Vanessa always had a true Vision in anything that she wanted to do and she brought this award to our community
about seven going on eight years ago she felt so strongly about Athena it was she
was like a dog with a bone with it it was going to happen I was the first Athena winner in Henderson County
Vanessa was truly more excited I think about my achieving the award than I was any anything she touched anything she
did she knew that there were women just like herself who were passionate who could go to Great
Lengths um to make a difference and when you look at that statue today mhm what goes through your mind I envisioned
Vanessa holding up the sky she deserved that award over and over and over for the work that she did and yet
she was always happiest when she was helping others Vanessa showed me how one person can make a difference
she inspired me with her energy with her eagerness with her faith when you're around her you wanted to mimic the same
things that she was doing
