What to expect

We usually reply within two business days. Press and partnership notes tend to move faster, so flag those in your subject line.

One thing we cannot do: this is a content hub, not an investigative agency or law enforcement. We cannot take crime tips, look into personal cases, or act on active matters. If you are in danger or have information about a crime, contact your local authorities.

Please also note we do not accept unsolicited story ideas, scripts, case submissions, or similar materials, and we cannot review them.

Before you write

How do I report a correction?
Send the page or episode and what looks wrong to the general inbox. Include a source if you have one. We review every correction.
I think someone was wrongfully convicted. Can you help?
We cannot investigate or take on cases. Organizations that do this work include the Innocence Project (innocenceproject.org) and its network of member organizations.
Someone I know is a victim of a crime and isn't getting help. What can I do?
For an emergency, contact local authorities first. For ongoing support, the National Center for Victims of Crime (victimsofcrime.org), the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children (pomc.com), and the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime all offer help and referrals.
I want to work in forensic science. Where do I start?
The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (aafs.org) is a good first stop, including its Young Forensic Scientists Forum for students and newcomers. Our Forensics Resource Center also covers methods and careers in plain language.
Do you accept guest articles or pitches?
Sometimes, for the forensic explainers. Email the press inbox with a short outline and a writing sample.
