I'm Peter Van sand and on the next 48 hours this is Saluda North Carolina back during the Confederacy this was a
bustling railroad town and today if you take a look it's a beautiful tourist destination wonderful restaurants
wonderful shops but I'm not here for the food I'm here because of a tragic murder
that occurred about 2 miles up this road right here back in 2011 involving a Woman by the name of Vanessa Mintz
someone I never met but I've come to greatly care for because of the remarkable family that she's a part of
Vanessa was working the night shift at the family business the Saluda Mountain Lodge when she was discovered in the
morning by one of her daughters she'd been shot twice Vanessa Mintz shot this is a woman who was deeply religious
worked in real estate helped consult local beauty queens everyone knew Vanessa everyone loved her so who would
kill Vanessa Mintz in a place where murders are unheard of well her husband was about 12 miles away he rushed over
to the scene along with her two daughters and as they describe what they discovered it is as powerful a moment as
I've ever experienced on 48 hours we investigators also converged on the scene and they found on the floor of the
office right by Vanessa's body a shell identical to this one this is a spent shotgun shell had the killer left a
calling card they focus on that shell they discover the shotgun that it came from then they discover a suspect a man
a local man who had a secret life did that secret life somehow cause the death of Vanessa mince it's an intriguing
murder mystery full of emotion the very powerful ending I hope you'll watch
