I grew up in Brazil in a very small town his story when I read that he didn't pursue fashion that it came to him
because his mom was a dress maker hit home because I grew up with my grandmother making clothes telling me
star is how she learned how to sew cuz she didn't have money to buy clothes and I think that was the number one thing
that I understand why I love fashion and so when you saw his work and looked at his designs what what was it that that
made you want to sort of be like him the number one thing was how when I looked at his
women they looked like superheroes they were so powerful and I saw that he was taking inspiration from the streets uh
he was the one bringing street style into high fashion I always say that to me clothing are like the armors that we
wear every day to conquer our world and I think when you dress the way that makes you feel so powerful you can just
like convince everybody of what you want and his clothes have that when I looked
at it I just felt like wow you I'll be like Invincible wearing a dress like this are there design elements in your
clothes that you trace back to Versace yes um I love incorporating the hardware for example these buckles are kind of
like my signature now I try to use them in so many different ways and like Versace he love to experiment with
unusual materials and I love doing that too incorporating a little bit of like bondage to it cuz it looks a little like
SNM and I like that that brings like the few cells yes what's interesting is that
I mean you were barely a teenager when he died but you still see some relevance in his work today yes I think it's
because Versace really changed the face of fashion uh when he started he recognized
how the fashion needed a little bit of um uplift it was so close-minded and he understood also the power of mixing pop
culture with high fashion and now we see Versace and songs like hip-hop songs everywhere whenever you see the symbol
the Medusa you already know automatically that's Versace even people that don't know so much about fashion
they recognize the symbols and it stayed so relevant
