um there's certain conditions we can get in the rest of if they're found with drugs
in the bathroom or in the stall this young lady was just finished fixing in the stall and we're just trying to
determine her name I'm just going to call right now down on 116th and King Road someone reported
that a white car went in the ditch and five youths got out and ran no doubt the car is probably stolen so we'll try and
get a few cars down there and possibly a dog car if there's one available and see if we might be able to locate
some of the people from the car [Music] hi you're running away from the uh the car
right I didn't see them out the car itself when I got here how long it's about 15 minutes ago now
Dogma is taking off right now on a trail after the uh five kids dogs seem to have a fairly strong scent
he was pretty eager to go so it seemed like he'll find him in there they went off towards the railroad yards
and uh there's some CN Police also assisting the perimeter to try and contain them in
there so we'll see what he manages to find obviously you can see here they're probably just driving along too fast
they don't really care if they do any damage to the car you can see there's a lot of damage to this one the front end
and you just take off there's a bottle of beer there by the driver's seat and certainly they could care less if
they end up gaining a high speed chase with the police and uh wreck the car heard anyone else
or anyone else's property damage anyone else's property you can see the ignition on this side
has been ripped open [Music] uh in Surrey we're getting hundreds of cars stolen every uh every month
and usually when we catch people it's uh young kids probably averaging between 14
and 19 years old a lot of the time they just seem to take the car for a joy ride
use it to get home from the sky train or whatever they need it for it's not that
frequent that uh that they're selling the cars or stripping them down although it does
seem to be becoming more prevalent we're going to drive around to the other side Tom went through a bunch of
brambles that we couldn't make it through because the dog man was just calling on
the radio he's really broken up but he advised that he's got track working towards the Fraser River using
the CN railroad track yard there we'll see if we can get into the yard there and if nothing else via high
visibility and if there is someone running from him we can get them to hide somewhere where the dog might be able to
catch up to them here's two kids here just on the side of the road that jump through the ditch
we'll have a chat with them see where they're coming from their legs are wet and full of mud as
you'll see and they may very well have been running from the dog Suri from Bravo 40. you can see how
they're trying to ignore us hoping we won't notice them ladies how you doing good

I don't know if I believe her how many did you have two are they in your car yeah
Chicago they were just jumping across the ditch onto the 116th down where it turns into
King Road they said they're walking home from a friend's place but their pant legs are
wet and uh the one's faces scratched up from all the brambles and that back there and
finally admitted that they were in the car but we're hitchhiking of course you can see what I was saying about the
kids not caring if they wreck it or anything as soon as we came around the corner here the two girls in the back
seat started laughing as soon as they saw the car and the Damage that was done to it
[Music] we're there um the road where I saw you uh turned right or turned West on to
116th and it was probably about 150 yards down the road they they were just jumping out of the bush area
the car car will be towed to our local tow yard here and the owner contacted you know we have the owner to get a hold
of ICBC and then probably get towed into ICBC they'll evaluate the damage it looks like there's thousands of dollars
of damage and we'll decide to get them out the car can be repaired or if it's a total write-off
two girls I've got here I'm going to get their full details particularly see if their runaways see if there's warrants
out for them wanted for anything else and realistically we aren't going to be able to do anything with them but let
them go they both claimed that they were hitchhikers and got picked up by people
they don't know and I don't believe that for a second but it's uh you know kind of indicative
with our court system now that there's no way we'd be able to get conviction on them even if they admitted that they had
been in the car as pastors with friends we'd have to be able to prove that they knew that the car was stolen probably
that they had control of the vehicle before we could charge them and it's because of that I think that there are
so many cars getting stolen these days because the kids just aren't getting charged when they get caught it's really
tough to do it foreign [Music] separate reports of the van weaving all over the road from Vancouver right here
to New Westminster no just it's just so that we can keep track that's bad karma man this looks
bad you know what I'm saying it's just so we can keep track of uh who's who can I ask a question ma'am is there a need
for like six of these cars the van's most likely going to be told so you may as well start making your way
off now we don't need you here anymore and the driver is dude man we're stuck we're from North Bend at least drinking
we designated driver and then you guys are full I'd be more than happy to well I don't know what we're pulling on if
I'd be more than happy to call you a cab oh my God you want to pay for it I'll be

served a uh a driving prohibition and wanted to be arrested and threatened the police and and everyone else in the in
the area saying he'd steal a car and then go and hit people so he was arrested and they'll be spending the
night in the Burnaby jail and the rest of the the kids apparently they make lots of money but they don't
have any money right now and we've offered to call either their parents or taxis and they don't want any of that to
happen so I guess they're going to make their way back to North Vancouver from here
[Music] there's a report of the vehicle is just driven off of Lakeside road into Skaha
lake at the I believe it's about the 4200 block which is a it's a flat stretch of road and it's we usually have
someone go off there one or two a summer and one in the winter and it's usually not too good
I don't know which way which way this vehicle was traveling but uh we basically have got an overturned
vehicle with injured people and it looks like it's possibly a 68 which isn't impaired
still have one yeah bring that Lake down here so you can see did you guys see it
at all yeah I heard the Screech of like we're in the house right across the street there right I looked out and I
saw the vehicle slide and then do a roll in your half and there we go okay which
which way was it traveling he was going this way so he's heading Northbound on like Friday how fast they're going oh I
don't know I just heard the Screech looked out and saw him uh spin flip uh the two girls in the car that you talked
to I believe were the ones that were in front of him coming this way yeah okay would you pardon me oh the gravel on the
road I think he hit that wow that's what he was saying yeah it definitely definitely probably traveling too fast

and appears to have back injuries lower leg injury right now he seems to be doing okay A bit High pull though

spun on the gravel or whatever and then he rolled off the bank there into the waters
got the car yeah you say he was coming Northbound towards you right yeah we were going this way yeah was he
traveling fairly fast or um looked like he's going pretty quickly he's spinning pretty fast so he was was
he doing 360s on the road here yeah he did one or two before he went in the water then he went Airborne hit the
gravel and just flipped over and went into the water eh what did you do um we got out of the car and went in the
water and opened his dorm holding on his buddy was yelling Chris Chris Chris trying to like get us to get him out of
there and he was trying to lift up the car and uh reach down to open the door and it wouldn't open so I tried to kick
the window but it it didn't do anything so I reached down and it pulled open and
then I was reaching around in the car and he was on the passenger side I guess but I grabbed him and
sort of popped his head up and he's all gasping for her one guy that was underwater he didn't put a
music or anything okay so both were conscious and breathing pretty good gouge on this
Lake right in there like yeah [Music] okay and how do you put some water there yeah
that's good well you guys did a good job learn how to put together a scratcher and stuff great you did a real good job
you know kind of appreciate that and I'll let you know what can happen when you're going a little too fast now wait
oh yeah even in a Corvette okay well yeah but we'll find out what the cause was to really appreciate what you did no
problem okay thanks guys thanks a lot from the evidence on the road from what I can see right now it looks like this
is probably the point where you started to lose control um you can probably pick up a few
skid marks here just going up around the bend here now you can see there is a little bit of gravel
in the center portion boys are checking it out right now [Applause] and the uh he continues along here and you can see
how the marks get a little bit wider now he he's losing it up in this area he's going into almost a 360. and we're
traveling we're probably just walk the distance of maybe uh 150 yards here which is fairly visible
what I can see right now and you'll see a few other indicators here right now on the road
how he's losing it if you go to your left there you'll see how the skid marks are starting to
turn here he's almost heading for the telephone pole directly [Applause] so he crosses the center line right at
this point here now he's into the uh southbound lane and he just uh he slides it appears like he's almost sliding
sideways here he hits the gravel portion of the road and continues on missing this telephone
pole which was really fortunate and then catches this rock right here and becomes airborne
Landing in the lake upside down and the indicators are the vehicle is pointing North in the legs
