came in this guy apparently was assaulted by seven guys baseball bats were used he managed to make his way
over to the Chevron and make the phone call and appears that he's uh heavily injured
because uh ambulance is heading over there game don't lie it's not nice to lie to the police Jerry

your arms what are you doing out here look at all this beer having a party of your own I'm
going home you're going home well guess what we're gonna we're gonna book you in
a big hotel it's called our home I know this you noticed yeah we're just gonna make sure that you're
gonna be okay there for the night we don't want you to get run over with what are you resting me for for being drunk

looks like he's not going to be partying tonight he's going to be arresting in our cell totally sobers up we'll give
him back all his uh personal belongings and uh his beer do you have grass on him

there's uh Five Guys fight outside the bar we were there earlier end up spraying three guys that were
fighting in the inside the bar and they were dispersed sent on their way but I guess it's probably the same
ones that are fighting since the bar is closing up down now hand behind your back
you got a pair yeah yeah sorry guys hold up you got your keys I got mine first time I've been arrested well
you're kicked out of the bar and you go back in that's what happens well you had your beer there in your hand

and now you're going to jail you have any idea on you got any idea on you left it at home

like about three minutes ago oh quite a bit I was at a party on the Anderson's Island we aren't arrested
being drunk in public place I do think I uh they admitted me uh or just a moment ago have a seat three
minutes of me I just live on 96 and 128 right here right here you are under arrest you are required

still doesn't excuse you identify yourself and now you're being charged and you charge me I've my work
is clean I was born in 65 good deal so where do you live you don't know somewhere in Newfoundland man you don't

had cuffs on my hand i'm 30 years of the French partner here so we have a new finis and a French partner don't

there was three there was that I don't know the other guy yeah he didn't seem to be friends with him so I don't know
they were buddies all three yeah but those are the some of the so why were they fighting

team's already barred what we got here um looking for these five guys fighting obviously they were gone before we got
here and as we were speaking with the doorman I caught a corner of my eye this guy with a beer in his hand a Budweiser
was heading back into the bar was thrown out of the bar he appeared to get very angry got back
up and went inside the bar and tried to fight with one of the bouncer so I ran over there and um grabbed this guy
handcuffed him and we're going to take him in for um drunk in a public place but um he didn't want to give his name
so right now we're charging him with the obstruction he'll be held until he identify himself and uh
and if he doesn't well he'll have to stay in jail call there somebody's acting up in the wagon we're gonna have
to hog tie somebody I don't know who it is they're probably fighting amongst each other we're just going to back up
our Paddy Wagon there 125 and 92. she got his Cuffs in front lit up a cigarette wouldn't put them in the back
again he said he's just gonna do it again so bumper station okay down you go not slapping your boat
if you don't want to behave you have to go like a little piggy it's gonna hog tie you
this way we know you're gonna be here foreign a little bit down this way don't do that

today we had a domestic assault up in our Capilano Zone and a lady got assaulted she ended up
being transported to the hospital and she had some injuries including A Cut Above her left eye she wound up with
three stitches we ended up arresting a male who was at the scene brought him back to the office
and we have some concerns about some weapons so we're he's doing a consent search for us at the residence where he
lives where we're going to now and we're going to go inside and retrieve a couple
of um we'll run rifle and one shotgun this will allow us to you know ensure that there's everybody safe and nobody's
going to get hurt so we're going to go up there and do that right now and after we get the guns
we're going to take him back to cells and hope they can get a statement from him and after he talks to his lawyer
we're going to go inside we're going to retrieve some rifles right here right here okay
and the key will open up this door here there I noticed that you guys were wearing
your guns in the police station and stuff didn't you have to use to check them uh only in the Cell Block in the
station no we uh guns upstairs and this is uh the TV is on a stuffer yeah I left the TV on
and stuff because we were sort of in a high crime area here okay there's a light switch over here right
there oh no that one I'm right inside here [Music] okay where are the guns okay the guns
are on the left side of the bed over there okay Christy you want to go get that for me please okay nothing else
under there all right new cigarette I said I'd give you one I have a match over there too

drunk mail just took a lady's purse at the Dell Hotel he then got in a cab and went down in the flats area of Wally and
tried to pay for the cab with her credit card but I guess they wouldn't take the
credit card and he's supposed to be walking up King George somewhere up here right now it seems uh the bad guy's been
located 128 in King George the help of this cab drivers sir he's in the back of a cab
matches the description to a t and a cab drivers telling us it's him self I got a number
is it a white purse [Applause] gospel Ward we've got a white purse we've got a white purse here in the cab
yeah okay well if you don't know this gentleman yeah should you have any idea is your victim uh Barbara
he tells me that you did you offered to pay with a credit card I said uh how much I'll give you a hundred dollars to
go downtown Vancouver yeah and I don't know you misunderstood me well did you offer him the credit card
or not no well he says you did I did is he lying yeah he's lying he is why would
he do that I know I have no idea okay well I think you're lying to me what do you think
like I say uh I have a message to say at the moment that I did not offering characters
you offered him cash yes and I said where to go to get the cash I was gonna go to my Mother's Day where'd you get
the cash from work I was gonna go pick it up at my mother's house okay so you didn't take a credit card
out of that purse at all is that what you're saying you didn't take your credit card out of that purse
at all is that what you said I was trying to I was looking through the idea yeah oh I see that'd be a good idea
where are your socks my socks yeah well uh actually we're doing laundry today it's gonna give you
a 50 tip eh yeah I'm a generous guy inside when you picked him up was she there oh

part you took in this basically what we've had happen here is uh drunk mail is taking a purse from a woman
out front of the Dell Hotel and he hopped in a cab and attempted to pay the cab driver
with her credit card he was going to give him a 50 tip as well but the cab driver felt that was
suspicious called it in and helped us catch the bad guy so we've got the purse we're going to
take the purse back to the victim here and we've got the bad guy and his friend in custody right now we're going to try
to figure out what what part she played in this if any I'm gonna push the C4 oh here we go
right now we're just looking for the Visa card in the bank card that were stolen
and we believe the suspect slid them under the seat yeah okay excellent well this Caper is totally uh solved now
the female we had in custody had really nothing to do with this she was picked up after by the uh by the bad guy he
stole the purse from the woman and then hid their credit cards we found the credit cards the purse the keys
we've returned everything to them to the right owner and he's going to be charged with theft
under five thousand dollars the whole reason we caught the bad guy in this one was he tried to use her credit card and
she had already run up the limit on it so the cab driver uh I knew there was a problem there
right away and contacted us so if it wasn't for her shopping habits we might not have caught
the bad guy in this one or we probably would have but maybe not so quickly to Serve and Protect we'll be right back

because it hurts the building um if there's a fight or whatever they're supposed to call the police
where's the knife what was he doing with it exactly he just took it out and he said your face
is really pretty isn't it and that's it where did that happen in here just I was
sitting right here and he was standing right there what did he say about the dog
like there's something about a dog throwing the dog before they went to go to class after you said that and um I
was gonna go and use the phone he told me that if I left then he would throw my dog out onto the street and I'd use the
phone here but he wouldn't let me so probably responded to a domestic dispute in fact the husband had called in
although he was the one that was ultimately arrested husband called in to report the that his wife had assaulted
him by kicking him and she'd somehow hurt her knee yeah we upon going there we received another call
from her indicating that he'd pulled a knife on her and was threatening to throw her dog off the balcony and I
guess there was quite a criminal history with a fellow two on her system uh upon arrival to the scene the
female was called out of the apartment and she ended up coming out with this uh quite a frightened look on her face
and had an obvious limp knee injury the male was called out he was a bit uncooperative at the beginning I didn't
seem to understand our instructions he wanted to more listen to the dispatcher on the that he was talking to on the
phone anyhow he ultimately obeyed our instructions and was arrested at scene um the suspect was escorted back to the
Detachment and is being lodged in cells he's going to be held for the night and brought before JP in the morning on
assault charges the female I attempted to get a statement from her and unfortunately her
attitude changed during that time and she wants her husband back now and she does not want charges
and unfortunately this is an attitude we are often seen in domestic disputes the
victim part of the marriage is scared at the time and then once we take the other
spouse away they've changed their mind and now they regret calling the police even though they forget about that fear
and Terror that they've gone through during the incident um but we have a policy of arresting the
assailant and charging them no matter what the victim wants because so often these things end up in
tragedy where someone ends up seriously injured or killed so in this case tonight she was injured
not seriously but she was injured and terrorized what will happen in the future with them
they probably will get back together I don't see a good future with this marriage though just the fact that he's
willing to throw his her dog off the third floor balcony and pull a knife on her I don't see this getting any better

he was charged for sure he has to leave the property and he assists on coming up there he says I pay
the taxes I'm going to ride the system because he's a taxpayer and he's drunk so pays your salary too yeah he keeps

articles from an explosion I'm going to work down the far west side because the wind is blowing from the East to the
West I want to work the dog along this Corridor and as he picks up any wind-blowing scent drifting towards him
I'll always want to work the dog into the wind whenever possible I'm going to do using a grid pattern I'm just going
to work up from the West is working in a north-south direction and then working back and forth to cover the existing
area here so while he's doing his search he's wary of a search pattern and he's trying to work a pattern now to
cover the area in a systematic way [Applause] he will be scored on the search pattern
too and how well the dog works and how well he handles the dog as you can see there's lots of trees and
a change of altitude so there's this property could be almost anywhere so by doing a proper thorough technique of a
search if I put the dog in the appropriate places hopefully his uh his nose will find all the articles
the dog is a come upon and indicating some Center on where the vehicle was uh put his nose into a crevice
and he's now clawing to get inside because of the small opening he can't get his jaw in there or his paws to
reach it an indication is very strong which tells me as a Handler that something's in there
on some shell casings I now entering a gully area and the dog is indicating a under some
laid down grass he put his nose into this grass by me moving this grass to the side it reveals a gun hidden in the
bottom of this of this Gully and then continue on working my pattern the dogging to start to indicate High I
mean he does this by putting his nose up in the air and casting into this wind and that tells me as a Handler that
something is high it's it's uh the scent is hitting on the trees and the dog is looking up
so it's now to me to use as a team it's okay to work this article be a dog narrowed down to that tree and just
about approximately eight feet up right where my hand could reach there was a black bag concealed among amongst the
trees bizarre as you can see he's working very hard and he's panting indicates that
he's he's tiring out it is such hard work on a dog to breathe all this in through his nose it is very tiring on
the dog I'm aware of that I'm under uh some time constraints because of his trials I have 15 minutes in the real
world I would take the Czar away from the scene maybe get him some water let them lie down for a little bit make sure
he's back so he's back breathing through his nose again I have to use zar's nose
that is asset to me right now if he is breathing out and panting he's not taking picking up these scents so I have
to be I have to be conscious of that and know when my dogs reached his limits because we're only at 15 minutes here
you have to work right through and do the best that you can coming up on a strand of Tall Weeds
approximately three to four feet high as far as indicating uh some sand amongst this area because of the wind and the
different uh such a tall grass the Articles could be anywhere so we just keep working the area and narrowing and
pinpointing where this Auto could be this is our digs into one sort of this tall strands and find small bits of
clothing with with dried blood on them and that indicates of course I picked that up and put it in my pocket and
continue on with our surge pattern to find the next articles I am holding Zara with a six foot line I want to stay back
about six feet away from the dog so I don't contaminate what Czar is looking for by myself or disturb any of the The
Ground by me walking on it I want him to have the free free reign to search on his own and then by me watching Tsar if
you indicates something I can then shorten up come in there and help him we're a team it doesn't matter if he
finds it or I find it he's giving me an indication in this area and now we're a team and we both have eyes on our nose
and we want to use that as a team to find whatever that article is pretty good if you didn't get all the
articles but uh we have a few wrinkles in there to to pool some of the handlers like when he
got something out of the tree there he was actually standing on another article and had the mindset that he had the
required article right there when there was two almost in the same place one high and one low so he left the area
thinking he had found the article for that area and then down in this far corner he covered the area but the dog
didn't and so he missed the screwdriver embedded in the ground down there otherwise it was excellent
well here is your gun here it is your good boy you worked hard enough for it oh good
boy [Applause] and I have for you some pieces of shirt one of these shirts boy try it hard buddy it works well
so when you're out doing this for real and you find something in a tree you're gonna remember this aren't you pick
something up every time yeah you pick something up every time and he kept going back and I thought you
know what's the old my mindset that oh that's the high article definitely held him back right those
keys are in view too I really bought them yeah actually he was hitting on something down here and I thought oh
what's in this tree now and up on the tree that's just what all the dogs have indicated really strong
indication yeah I got to be a little bit of a twist out of the encounter yeah well you didn't stay with it though and
that shows that you knew what was going on too you know same as over here the dog convinced you
there was nothing there or you would have stayed there yeah you know he was wanting to leave after checking it out
yeah and that isn't normal when there's something there these days yeah so well and not spending too much time

the conclusion of the exercise I'm informed by the judges there's a little bit of trickery place in this one and
that can be used as a learning experience for me I've uh the ones are indicated up high on this one Tall Tree
I found the article has already did a very good job I was very proud of him for doing that I then left here to
continue my search pattern without going a thorough thorough job below that tree
I'm informed there was a set of keys below that tree is our indicated to me something quite
High I went with that indication and I should have done a more thorough search at the bottom of the tree and that was
the article I've missed that is now a learning experience for me I can take that back to the street and realize just
because something is up high and maybe also something in that peripheral area that I got to search a little more
thoroughly I quite a learning experience and a good job by the judges to Serve and Protect we'll be right back
