here has been a well-known area for prostitution. Our citizens patrol group has done a very good job of uh keeping
the sex trade workers off the street during the evening hours. Just seems to uh push it back to later in the evening,
but uh you know their efforts are to be commended. Uh we're out here tonight to uh show them support by uh trying to uh
tag ourselves a few John's uh make some uh uh contacts with uh the public that are associating with the sex trade
workers and uh registering them under the uh the the DISC program. Also, it's a totally community involved effort.
We're working with uh the citizen patrol with uh the uh community consultative group to try to uh squeeze the problem
out of Burnaby. I don't think we're ever going to solve it, but uh if we can get
off this stroll for some period in time. I think the citizens in this area will certainly be
uh happy with any results we get. We have a car coming out of the Petraan. It's a black t-ird
and intrepid. He's been by about three times now. He's definitely interested in what's going on. He's just gone south on
11th. He'll probably come back around on 12th. And oh, he's making a U-turn. And uh he's coming back on 11th.
He's a player. He wants to uh to make contact with the with the girls. This guy's been around two or three
times also. He's finally stopped to make contact. Taurus make contactus with the one white male oct.

another member pulling up here who's going to be um using a roadside screening device so
that we can see if he's had too much to drink. He told me he had a couple of beer and we'll just see how many a

Okay. Okay. This uh gentleman here blew into our roadside screening device and uh he
failed. So, at this point, he's going to be issued a 24-hour suspension from driving. and his girlfriend is in behind
us here. And uh Corporal Waters is just going to be checking her and see if she's able to
drive. And if so, then he can get a ride back with her. If not, she'll be also receiving a 24-hour suspension.
Is she okay to drive? Yeah, she's fine. Yeah, she she blew a pass. So, she's fine. Um, it's fine if they go
in there, but if they're going to do that, we're just going to have to make sure that they uh that they leave and
she doesn't come back and uh drop off. Yeah. Yeah. But if we're going to do that, I'll
leave. Well, yeah. I'll just explain to them that if uh if anyone picks it up, he'll
be arrested. Yeah. And he's charged with driving or prohibited and everything else.
Yeah. Then he'll be going to court on Tuesday. So So it's not worth it. Yeah. This is his first defense and
hopefully he will learn from this uh that we have zero tolerance when it comes to drinking and driving.
Possible man is attending a scene of a vehicle fire. It seems to be a chronic problem that we
have. Stolen cars are being left at the side of the road and set ablaze. Yeah, it looks like it may be a stolen
vehicle. Is that a vehicle fire at 16? You not only don't uh set the car ablaze just by running it off the ditch
and it's fairly intensively burned. You take a look around that most of everything is gone except for the metal
that'll only melt at the highest of temperature. There's basically only the frame left.
It's hard to determine at this point as to whether some of the seats or some of the materials were actually removed from
the vehicle, what was stolen. We seem to be coming upon this more and more often nowadays.
Still fairly warm. It's like a Volkswagen Golf. Let's just inquire with constable man as
to what he's determined thus far. There's flames everywhere 10 ft and the branches
and the trees were starting to burn over there too. So the first thing they just
called the fire to get them to come out here and they got was lucky enough to get the license plate off the front and
uh it hasn't been reported stolen. So it's possible it's been stolen overnight. There's nobody around here.
It's probably your typical vehicle that's been dumped and burned. after it's been stolen and driven all
night. Yeah. No doubt it's been stolen. Yeah, it seemed fairly intact to me. It looks like they burnt it while the while
the whole car was there. I mean, it had some uh highriced alloy wheels still on it.
So, chances are that they they probably just took it out for a joy ride. Well, that's what it is more or less cuz
when I got here, it was all up in flames. So, there's no doubt that they had just started to burn this with
probably accelerant. They're always doing that. So there's no evidence left behind for us to examine. So we can't
put them to the vehicle. There is I don't know what it is with the uh subculture of children today. Seems to
be an influence of the media one way or the other, but they all seem to think that it's okay to steal cars and have
often heard people like these kids brag about it when they get caught. Look at that. Look at the destruction
that it causes. Not to mention the uh cost to both yourself and myself when it comes to uh
reinsuring your vehicle. No matter how efficient the insurance industry gets, when you start a a
pattern like this, can't help but escalate the prices of your yearly premiums. Copy 108. But we've received a report of
a male in the upstairs suite of a house with a rifle. We're not too sure why he has it or what he's doing with it. Um
his wife is quite concerned. She's scared. She's uh closed herself into the bedroom. Um
her brother heading street. The complaint says there's three adults on the main floor and one child.
Uh, in the residences, uh, the wife, a witness, sister-in-law, the suspect, and a
14-year-old me. Well, it appears that there's several people in the residence, and nobody's
quite sure why he has this rifle. Um, we'll just wait till we get a few more cars come in and then uh for my safety
and everybody else's safety and then uh we'll have the uh have the residents telephone from our uh
police station and uh ask the mail mail with the rifle to come out of that. Do we have containment front and rear?
Yep. Okay. Who's at the back? I've already called in this. Okay. Can you call them and tell them
what's the call exactly first? He's probably just suicidal. They're having arguments about money deaths
and he's sitting there with the rifle and he's depressed. Okay. So, she's downstairs. He's made no
threat to anybody. He's made no threat to them. So, can they leave without any problem?
Probably. Well, first thing, let's get them all out of there. everybody else. What we're attempting to do is uh from
the office establish phone contact and have everyone else who uh is inside the residence leave the residence go out to
the front where we can see them and uh uh head away from the residence. And then
at that time, we'll be able to try to uh establish contact with the man with the
rifle and try to talk about have him leave his rifle there and then uh deal with it
from there. The um we understand that there's a squabble over money, little child coming
out from basement suite. She looks Asian. Uh two males accompanying her straight across the street.

A female, two males, a small child just exited from the basement suite. Um, we're not too sure who we have left in
the residence. Um, we're going to be field interviewing them, finding out exactly what's happened, see if there is
any fence or if uh the people are just intimidated by the fact that the fellow has the rifle out.

It's a 14-year-old girl in there as well. The occupants that all came out are from the basement. Um, there's
they've locked the access from upstairs to downstairs. So there's this front entrance and there's a rear entrance to

Bern just pulled up uh into the driveway. Okay. The basement suite of the residence has been cleared. The
residence is indeed actually the residence to the left. It's two residences um in the upper suite now. Uh on the left
hand side in the back is where the wife is. Uh we understand there's also a a teenage daughter I believe in there. The
uh male with the rifle. He is uh in the living room. Um it's on the front right portion of the residence.
The kitchen light and the suspect residence has just been turned off. Somebody came to the front door of the
suspect res um turned on the hall light and they turned it off again. They were wearing a red sweater.
There were three people leaving the basement suite. A woman, teenage girl, and male.
Out of the house now, except for him. We're going to get some conversations happening here to get some more intel

in the room. You could seize it and then basically just interview the wife and the detail.
Okay. We ended up cording off the area tonight um just uh within a block either sides of the residence. We blocked the
road. We had uh the residents of the nearby uh houses uh vacate just for their safety. Um we had all the um
occupants of the house uh leave the house. Uh so it got to the point where it was just us outside and him inside.
It leaves us in a controlled environment that we can easily more easily uh and effectively deal with the situation. Um
because there was a rifle involved, we take it, you know, quite seriously for our safety and the safety of everybody
else's. Um we had uh a police car guard come to the front to light up the front of the
house. Uh and once we were in position and everything was set up, we called the uh gentleman on a cell phone and we had
him come out to the front door uh in a situation that we can fully control. Um and the gentleman complied. We had no no
problems. Everything went according to plan. Um, he's been now taken to the hospital for assessment for a doctor
just to make sure that uh, you know, he's okay. He's not going to be hurting himself. He's not going to be hurting
anyone else. Uh, we've seized the rifle and we'll be asking for a destruction order on it. Um, it went well. Nobody
was hurt and that's the way we like to say things happen. To serve and protect. We'll be right

in a fight with his ex- brother-in-law or something. They thumped on him. He rode here and now he decided to call us.
