with a plane close member spotted a jeep that was involved in our robbery last week in Burnaby and he's just trying to
uh catch up to it or stay with it now and as soon as we get in the area we'll pull it over

one of the passengers was fan with a couple decks of cocaine so the police dog is just searching the uh the truck
now for any drugs we've got a second dog assisting from Delta Police searching the area for a gun
a very common way of packaging the cocaine it's referred to as a deck what happened here is last week when one
of our night shifts we had a broadcast made to us over the radio that there had been armed robbery in Burnaby of a taxi
driver at gunpoint and the suspects were described as being two black males and they were associated to a Jeep Cherokee
and a license plate had been obtained just tonight one of our plane close officers was making Patrols in the area
spotted this Jeep and saw like two of the passengers or two of the occupants in the vehicle were black males he
checked his notebook had the license plate written down and it was the same vehicle so we pulled it over and that's
what led to the rest of these fellows and we'll be getting a hold of bring me detachments and game together and seeing
if we can identify these two fellows as being suspects who actually committed the robbery
teen years shoulders in the back and number two blackmail about 20 years medium build five foot seven had shorter
black hair I guess they both had the snub nose I can't hear nothing I won't bother
giving you the clothing unless you want it would be um I could have an Alabama like a
[ __ ] okay it wasn't my vehicle where was your vehicle in my vehicle was parked I can prove it to you right now
if I take your vehicle just I those are the only keys where are my keys a matter
of fact Okay and like uh I can prove this to you right now someone drive this vehicle to my house right now I'll prove
the [ __ ] out of you I did not have my vehicle Monday night I lent it to my roommate that's a woman she 37 years old
37 years old three kids man how old Eric is for kids well 117 wins in foster care
how uh hey what do they look like I said there's no doubt my mind it wasn't you the rough cap okay well but I
know it was your vehicle no it wasn't there's no [ __ ] way okay I'll [ __ ] die no there's no [ __ ] way with my
vehicle I know every fact another fact sir just a minute though you didn't have you just admitted to me that the vehicle
wasn't in your carrier okay okay hold on a second what color was the girl's hair I heard it on the wrist I
wasn't listening to the radio well tell the cowboy describe it if he's got somebody describe the [ __ ] okay
I'll tell you one of the one of the the males involved in the robbery right okay
is he black yes okay one of them is for sure okay and he has long black hair see
okay I don't know nobody that drives my third long life everyone that I hang out
with has no hair your jeep was seen leaving the area high rate of speed with two black males in it apparently okay
license plate was given he's got it written down his notebook for a week ago gray Jeep the RO came back to someone
over on one of the islands came back to a female by the name of it okay can I say something yes sir you can
okay say what first of all here you can have your pizza appreciate it this is gonna
[ __ ] me up now my roommate gets out I have sex alone well don't tell your girlfriend on the
islands well I see I'm gonna get busted now okay I was with my girlfriend last Monday at the caribou hotel last Monday
night that's what I remember but two what's your girlfriend the one you live with no one that owns the G but Tuesday
she left Tuesday morning and Tuesday night I stayed home because well Monday was our last Nation
so it would have been Monday night Monday night happened because I was in Stanley Park
I'll be telling doing the wild thing in my Jeep no you're right here at the Caribou which is over on the boundary of
Burnaby right but I was the Caribou we were drunk and I'll be honest with you you can phone her right now what were
you wearing what was I wearing yeah I was wearing an orange coat right with blue jeans and I'm sure
because the witness who got the Jeep said a red jacket could have never happened because I was
in Stanley Park well what time did you leave the bar one o'clock where I left the bar exactly at 11 o'clock at night I
remember because I went for another drink downtown the ivanhole by midnight right now one of the subjects that we
arrested is going back to the office where he'll be processed for the possession of cocaine and we'll be
releasing the other three for the time being we really don't know what transpired
we've had a couple different versions from the person who normally drives the Jeep as to where it was on the night of
the robbery the two fellows match the description of the suspect somewhat but there are a few
differences mainly the hair length and age so as I said we really aren't sure what happened
the information we have will be passed out to the investigator in Burnaby and he'll do some follow-up probably a
re-interview the witnesses maybe conduct some photo lineups and it'll be up to him now to try and determine what
transpired that night and whether or not these fellas are the ones who did the robbery

they're at a some sort of fight at the pub up here studebaker's Pub 12 is right behind three four

animals look at them then we can deal with anything else okay well the ambulances coming they can check out yes

being we were being a little too much for the place and they said you guys got leaving they grabbed a hold of our arms
put it behind our back and I was like okay I'm going man I will leave around come back

morning if you wait till the morning then what they're going to do is they won't stitch

to stag us and all that was under arrest are you with him are you with him and why don't you head off with him to the
hospital and get checked out I want my name taken because I don't like that that's

here what I would do is go and get yourselves looked after medically okay sober up and then see what you're gonna
do okay but the thing is the most important thing right now is to go if you think you have to get checked out
there's no ambulances to come here to check you out oh I'm not worried about it ambulance so your sober driver is
heading off right now around the corner so you best catch up to him and get in the car my main concern is by the way
these guys I appreciate that but off you go okay take your friend with you and make sure this guy's coming with us

street in Vancouver here we've got a looks like a fully involved car fire um Captain just assessing this scene
[Music] I'm donning my SCBA my breathing apparatus it's a self-contained breathing apparatus um
gives us air into our lungs without uh taking in all the smoke and stuff we want to keep away from this kind of
stuff especially our car fires car fires are pretty pretty serious with toxic fumes all the plastic and rubber and
different kinds of stuff like that floating through the air so as firefighters we want to be concerned
with the safety of it and we make sure we put these on at all fires it appears the Flames are coming from the engine
compartment right now I'll just try to douse the Flames initially and soon enough once we get it under
control we can move in a little closer and hopefully apply the pry the hood up with a bar or an ax to get right into
the CD engine compartment to begin with when you get to these kind of situations you're not really sure
whether the car has been stolen whether it's been abandoned left there we arrive at the scene our our main
concern initially is the safety of our people the firefighters of the citizens of Vancouver and to make sure there's no
dangers around so our initial concern is just getting the Flames out what we're going to try to do at this
point is we're going to we're going to try to pry the hood open to get right into the seat of the fire
and to make sure everything's out you know check the firewall Etc and the rest of the engine compartment
for any heat or any uh any flame especially to make sure that the fire is totally knocked
down we're trying to get the hood open with our ax it's a little tough at the present time
we can't get the latch open I'm gonna have to be at a bar usually uh usually they come up pretty
easy the hoods come up pretty easy with a Long Bar give them a little more leverage to play with
and I should have shouldn't be any problem getting the hood up in this case the the car owner is at the
scene he's just behind us there um his uh his overview of the situation is that he was just driving down the street
and the car just suddenly burst into flames he stated that he just had some work
under the engine and uh I could I could tell us because I was uh as I was hosing
down the car I saw a wrench sitting on the hood there I was I was kind of kind of wondering to
myself whether it was you know was a stolen car or not he's wrapping up now uh obviously the
fire is out we got the hood open uh just holds down the rest of the engine compartment
got underneath the dash there the firewall Captain made sure that was uh that wasn't too warm to cool that down
and basically she's out that's about it now we're just wrapping up getting all the
Vital Information down uh the only one of the cars over there waiting for the police to come and now we're just
waiting for a fire investigator to show up so we can pack up and get out of here
well we got a car here that uh we got somebody trapped inside we're gonna have to use Jaws to get them out boys are
getting them ready now and uh basically we're going to have to cut uh looks like we're gonna have to either
pry open the door or cut open the top to get the person out they've got a hold of them and they're
you they're your uh they're supporting his neck and uh looks like there's an ambulance
attendance inside there but the front of the car is pretty banged up on that side it's gonna be
pretty fortunate if he gets over there without too many serious injuries saw type tool here to uh
saw away all the glass in the front area once I get the glass open they'll then they'll cut away the posts as you can
see here in the right front which what's happening right now with jaws as soon as
they pop those two posts and they'll be able to peel that roof right back the outfit of the car appears to
be conscious and breathing and and has some facial injuries the airbag has activated itself as you can see
he's being he was being stabilized by the captain from engine number four and there is an ambulous attendant in
there with him uh assisting the captain uh All Things Considered if he appears to be in pretty good shape
he he um is conscious and breathing and has some has some blood around his face area
and probably has some head-to-head injuries and maybe some lower torso injuries but all in all he appears to be
in pretty good shape a matter of whole couple two or three minutes we're able to feel back the roof
of that car and provide access to get at that occupant or the ambulance cruise and the fire Crews can get the spine
board and we've got the next next supports on the uh on the patient and uh we can rescue him from the car and and
slide him out in a matter of less than seven to eight minutes we've got that patient on the way to the hospital
please try and secure the scene and as you can see by by the police line here they use the yellow
tape and they according off an area so that it provides us with an opportunity to work
and get at the situation without without being impeded by a lot of citizens who as we understand I mean they're here
they want to see what's going on we deal with it on a regular basis so it's a little difficult for us at times but the
police certainly help in a major way here that's uh it's their investigation too so they certainly help
us out the way the scene appears to me and uh after speaking to the police it appears
that this vehicle was southbound and uh collided with a one of the power poles here and just basically came apart
and uh he ended up on Seventh Avenue over there up against a tree and pretty well banged up lucky
to be alive and uh unfortunately we had the jaws here in a matter of a few minutes and it just took
a matter of another five minutes or so to get them out and now he's in the ambulance on the way to hospital as you
can see here this is uh appears to be the front end of the car which looking across the street I would say is
about 60 to 70 yards away from the actual car itself so as you can see uh I would imagine that a little bit of
excessive speed was involved in this accident so uh very fortunate man wow [Music]
we're just heading to a beanie in progress a woman woke up to the sound of someone trying to get in the front door
she looked out and saw a guy trying to get in her her front window so we'll be there in
just a minute or two now we've just had an update from our dispatch it sounds like the bad guy saw
because they complained looking out the window and he's leaving now she described the vehicle he's taking off in
as a little orange car with a big white racing stripe on it so hopefully we'll see it we're just about out of the house
now it has a big white stripe down the side of it the vehicle appearance headed eastbound on 128 from 96.

um [Music] knock on the door that's what I did do we find out what's going on anything
further all right we've got one meal in custody uh leaving the scene Echo Whiskey
on 96th Avenue 12500 block so he uh so he definitely from the sounds that was trying to get into the
house yeah okay okay we uh we may have a police officer stop by shortly to take a statement from you
or something and we'll decide what we're gonna do with this fellow okay thank you very much bye

talking to someone on a chat line there's no answer at the door why would you be trying to slide open the window I
wasn't I was knocking out the window and I was looking in to see if I could see anybody because the dog was barking down
there I don't know why nobody was no wasn't opening the door when I was knocking at it yeah they said that you
had been by the house several days ago about five in the morning no I was never knocking at the door never no never in
my life if I've been there that's the first time and you can phone that number there at the first number on the chat
line I've ever gotten is there a phone number there uh it's a chat line code uh 257-56 or 57 57 is the number and then
you punch in that code and you get into the chat line there's no way of knowing that we'll get
the same person that you're speaking to right no but they're yeah they're yeah do you get one-on-one conversation or is
it in a group uh you can send messages or get on one-on-one but I wasn't one-on-one I was sending messages back
and forth on my computer or I guess that's the way you do it did you talk and then they and then they send your
message over to the other people so they can listen to your message how much does
that cost you well I get you get a half an hour for free uh for the first time so was it worth all this hassle no it's
not I don't think there's anything to it again because that's you know wasting your time trying to meet somebody you
know and you figure you know but that's that's the address and you know you can phone that number and then
uh phone those code there and they'll they'll put you through to the thing you know so how do we know that uh
you're not bullshiting us and this is just a story that you had prepared ahead of time the address and then
why would it be standing around the dogs barking you know and they're standing upstairs and they're not even coming
down I mean did you see anyone yeah I've seen them standing two people stand up in the window and they didn't open the
door you know I mean why didn't they answer open the door and tell me uh that person's gonna
live there you know you're prohibited driving there Gerald I don't know I didn't know that
you're supposed to be prohibited for three months is that is that what it's what it's supposed to happen well I
didn't know that why what happened why should you be prohibited okay fine maybe I don't know
I don't know about uh four months ago I was about 250 I know that and I just never been in there like I'm a little
working part-time so it's hard for me to pay you know especially when you have to
pay for the chat line I've never no I've had it for free that afternoon you know
but is this what it sounded like or as well the complaint's legit but he's giving a story that uh even if it's
bogus it's probably good enough to get him off he's saying that he was talking with his chat lines and this girl told
him to come over and uh he's he's admitting everything he did knock it the door went down knocking at the window
and that and do you have any attempt to enter anything well I was just talking to complainant on the phone and she said
you know he knocked out the door sometimes dogs barking and then she could see they went down to the window
and was trying to get it open he's saying yeah I went down the window I was knocking on it and you know she's
looking for off above so it's possible he's knocking rather than he's got the address written down on a piece of paper
and that so he's admitted to everything all right so probably I could try to run
a tractors to say okay there's nobody else leaving here no he admitted they only saw one person
what's their criminal record do you have from a long time ago I had a peonies and
uh there's just some stolen property just a little while back about two and a half years ago I guess
can you understand how it seems a little suspicious if you have a record for this
sort of stuff but I was trying to straighten my you know when I quote I'm trying to go into the movies and stuff
like that what are you doing in the movie industry extra I just did one uh today oh yeah you know I did a couple on
the 26th 27 28 and the fourth and then today you're a star well I'm not a star man now you can be on TV yeah I don't
want to be on TV you know it looks like we may end up laying this fellow go uh he's providing a
what sounds like a pretty legitimate story he was apparently talking to a woman on one of these chat lines and she
invited him over gave him an address and it looks like she obviously didn't give
her own address the story he's giving is very consistent with what the complainant at the house provided us
with and right to the point where he's describing where the complaint was in the house and the fact that she was
watching him he stuck around for a while it's probably it wouldn't make sense that he would stick around if he was
trying to breaking into the house and knew that it was being watched so he's probably giving the right story or the
truth here we'll look into it further go and talk to the the complainant but at the stage it looks like he hasn't
legitimately done anything wrong he is going to have his driver's license suspended he owes money to ICBC and
hasn't paid it so we're giving him notification of the suspension and his vehicle will be towed he doesn't have
proper insurance on it at this point [Music] thank you we're going on a complaint right now on
Imperial street a complaint of an individual male who's attempting to break into a vehicle
and apparently he might have even broken the side window and is taking out articles from the car now and
transporting them to a nearby location and he's walking back to the house again he's got an arm load of stuff with him
he's running eastbound here down this way without going downstairs [Music] [Applause]
there's no way he could have went back there please [Applause] the police the middle of your hands show me your hands
turn show them your hands keep your back doors open and making some here as a Prowler
you just come in first Sun downstairs can't hear he's deaf we chased a fellow in the backyard here
the doors open that's why we've come in here yeah we lost person right here at your door on your door
that's why we came in your shoes I can see now the bathroom so I apologize for the uh the route
Awakening but I said we just chased the guy already yeah right backyard here okay don't apologize we've been broken
into five times 12. can you have the complainant come out to the car and we want to see if he knows
where this fellow was going to without meet you at the uh the vehicle suspect vehicle
the eviction vehicle yeah all of this fellow breaking into the cars or this car and the witness saw
him make several trips from the car out to a residence in the area and um we assume that he perhaps would come
back for another load which in fact he did and we held off and put a perimeter on it
and unfortunately he was a faster runner than I was today and he's eluded us so we'll see if we can perhaps find out
where he's at through the witnesses uh diligence a witness in the area has indicated that
the suspect was seen taking articles from this vehicle to a neighboring house he's given us the house that he's seen
this individual going to we're going to go check it out and see if he's home by now
that's him dark pants red shirt I think he had better listen and I think he better listen no it's really good
listen right now understand right now get out he doesn't need this he does not he's in
here you understand he does this in here he put me through enough you can't blame
us do you not understand that but you won't touch me that's as simple as that thank you
[Music] I don't know why well we're fortunate to go back to the original witness who at
this point wants to remain anonymous we're given an indication as to where the residents where this suspect had run
to have been going back and forth to with the property we went to the residence and um
while knocking at the door the suspect basically appeared in the carport soaking wet hair identified them by uh
by recognizing them I've been chasing them um I went and spoke to him while I'm speaking to him I looked in through the
large open window that he's been using to get in and out of his bedroom from and I I saw the the red sweatshirt that
he'd been wearing so basically he was arrested at that point his mother intervened he's 19 year old male adult
his mother intervened got quite hostile perhaps not believing that her son had been involved in some criminal activity
and basically the uh that suspect was arrested and we're going to be charging him from motor vehicle I just got the
window fixed like two days ago yeah so what's that white box it's an app it's an app
okay well I'll get a Mondays is going to come back and tow the vehicle we're going to hold it for uh identification
for them uh usually it probably takes you know don't touch anything there though I know it's hard put my alarm on
last night it's not on it's not on eh but uh you know the main thing is we do have one guy in custody
one of the members was in a foot chase with him this morning we had a complaint that I actually witnessing somebody
breaking into your car from the neighborhood and they called it in and one of the
members actually that was just here got into a foot chase with them and caught the fellow I guess he's 19.
we got him anyways [Music] foreign I was just conducting routine vehicle patrols and I observed this vehicle
parked here in front of the manor and I observed smoke inside the vehicle I pulled back and the driver the vehicle
started to rub the windshield with a rag pulled back to see what was going on and
seized a Hash Pipe here on the floor as well there was open liquor in the vehicle and right now we're just waiting
for the dog to attend the scene to do a thorough search of the vehicle for extra drugs
the front Plate's right there and then there's another set of plates at least one more set of plates I don't know what
they belong to I ran it and they're negative so which plates come back to the vehicle
um the papers are there so you're not sure who's playing um this is a deck of cocaine that was
seized from the driver's wallet I've got a bag of grass deck of Coke some power from analia here and this is
just off the driver vehicle hasn't been searched yet we might need the keys here Debbie to
get in the car yeah the police dogs doing a search right now to see if there's any other drugs left
in the car because they were smoking up in the car before the police dog got here the car
would be pretty contaminated with the smells and the Aromas of the marijuana that they were smoking so it's difficult
for the dog to try to locate other drugs in there however we ventilated the car a
little bit by opening up the doors and he's doing a search so far we haven't located any more drugs just the drugs
that were on the driver on this person so it looks like you've got some more cocaine and some more it's uh
something from The Hash Pipe there so they must have thrown it out the window uh when I attended the scene
yeah I put those in those plastic bag just keep it all so you don't spell Grande was on patrol and she
conducted a check of this vehicle where she observed some males and they appeared to be smoking up in the vehicle
and her suspicions were correct and she made a good check on the vehicle and resulted in her making a drug seizure of
several different types of drugs and paraphernalia she's got some cocaine and she's got some marijuana and she's going
to be charging the driver the vehicle with those drug charges he's under arrest right now I'll be going back to
the Detachment for processing and the passenger in the vehicle he's been also charged under the provincial liquor laws
for having an open liquor in the vehicle and he's been given a 50 ticket and has
been fine for for having the the liquor in the vehicle hi there you realize you guys are responsible
quickly this is my place and I just stopped in the front to check the doors because I had some Trace people right
and I thought I'll just drive around the lane there's three kids walking down the
lane and I saw this van sitting here okay so I figured that's strange so it went around the block again and I came
in this way right here and they were standing here and they took off that way and they took off that way yeah okay so
I figured I don't know if it belongs to someone but the door is open which I found suspicious maybe they were just
trying to break into it now or okay have you been inside yet I didn't touch anything I just thought
I'd call because I stick my head in there yeah it's stolen what was the description of the uh
three white kids or I could tell three of them for sure we're gonna be 24. just to update you again it's three
males uh one of them wearing combat pants um all wearing their hoods up heading uh
eastbound through the lane towards Smith we're gonna be 24. did you ever give the plate to the
dispatcher so you just saw them around the garage here you didn't see them actually in the
okay Vehicles definitely stolen it's got a punched ignition just waiting to confirm it so
level two four go ahead stolen Burnaby copy that everything looks secure around the back
here okay we got the dispatched to uh what came in as a b e in progress uh up on uh Spruce
Street um we got here as quick as we could and it turned out that it wasn't a beanie in
progress it's basically a dump stolen and uh the person who owned the house that the
suspects parked there the van in he saw the potential suspects running down the alley and we got here a little
