a woman in California who fought for her own Freedom after she was convicted of killing her husband more than two
decades ago her name is Jan dork and she was found guilty in 2001 of murdering her husband Bob she's always said she's
innocent in this case and 21 years later her conviction overturned Aon Mor arti first met dork in 2000 and spoke with
her recently again for this week's 48 Hours here's an early look and we warn you it does include some graphic
images Jane d spent two decades fighting for her freedom I thought truth and Justice was at the front of everything
and it certainly has not been in my case 48 Hours started following Jane's case in 2000 after her arrest for the murder
of her husband Bob dtic who was found bludgeoned and strangled by the side of a Road near their home as Jane awaited
trial and was under a cloud of Suspicion she allowed us into her house the last place she said she saw Bob he said he
was going out for a jog and he was actually had his jogging suit on was tying his shoes good morning ladies and
gentlemen in the case presented at trial the prosecutor said Bob never went for a
job the Jane dtic moved his body to where he was found after killing him in their bedroom investigators describe
finding blood all over the bedroom it was on one of the pillows on a lamp was on the ceiling itself on the underside
of the mattress now the evidence will show that all this blood that has been described to you the observations made
in this bedroom that it was all sent out for DNA analysis and it all came back to
Bob doric's blood Jane had explanations for some of that blood that Bob had had a nose bleed and they had dogs who had
bled but not for all of it do you have any other explanation of how that blood spatter could have gotten there on the
ceiling on the window on the walls no in 2001 a jury found Jane dtic guilty of murder from prison Jane spent years
filing motions asking for new testing of evidence working with lyola project for
the innocent new testing was done including of the blood in the bedroom Jane's team said it revealed some of the
spots were never tested others were not blood at all if you just look at all of the pieces of evidence that lyola was
able to absolutely take apart and yet we know what was told to the jury so how can that
happen wow how can that happen Aon Mor already joins us now Aaron you're never going to lose money if you bet it's the
spouse when you're watching 48 hours I know and look I was there and I really found her so credible she answered
questions the way I would if I were accused of sign but she's telling me that her husband went out for a jog and
investigators are saying there's this blood in the bedroom you he here now to find out that when they made those
statements all of this Blood we're showing you was tested and it comes back to Bob dorc and that actually was not
the case they hadn't tested it it wasn't even blood some of it wasn't tested some
wasn't blood they may it's one of the lawyers we talked to for this this hour says this was classic tunnel vision you
saw the blood you jumped to it they didn't have to arrest her so quickly either this is a cautionary tale that's
why we're doing this story do you think happened to Bob well she doesn't know she thinks he was jogging and he ran
into something as she described something terrible some Incident That's the other problem here we don't know who
killed Bob dork so what about the new testing that's been done on the evidence well it shows that where her DNA should
have been is not so on the Rope somebody strangled him her DNA is not on there that's really what and she's the one who
fought for this new testing she never gave up she filed motion after her motion it's it's really an incredible
story of resilience on her part and a frightening story of Mistakes by prosecutors and by the defense her own
defense team geez it's such a haunting story you want the justice department a justice system I mean to be perfect and
it's just not it's my personal nightmare it's one of the reasons why I do this story being accused of something you
didn't do and having people say there's this evidence how do you fight that yeah
