After seven days of deliberations, the Lindsay Clancy trial has officially ended in a mistrial.

But getting there was anything but straightforward.

Jurors twice told the court they were deadlocked. The judge sent them back to deliberate again. Then a new jury note raised questions about whether one holdout juror was properly applying the law. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington fought until the final moments to stop a mistrial from being declared—including an emergency appeal heard by a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court justice.

Ultimately, the jury returned one final time and said they could not reach a unanimous verdict.

Now, after a seven-week trial over the deaths of Cora Clancy, Dawson Clancy, and Callan Clancy, the case against their mother, Lindsay Clancy, could start all over again.
