we've got police officers all around your house smoke the door we get a fire this will be our next
customer right here they decide to hurt themselves you're not going to because there isn't
one why are you stopping I mean you drove up to it you crashed right now you're under arrest for being
an idiot okay if you mind we don't need to be on the news most people are dealing with tonight or like yourself
you're very poor police [Music] this program contains actual police footage no reporters no Recreations on
the road straight down five minutes okay so the male was driving yes okay how old would he be oh I believe
he's about 24 25 years old white male yes how tall how about 5.5 his hair is uh they're gone yeah running
on foot it's over here for you fatal yeah Surrey Bravo five you've got get every car you can out I
don't care what they're doing for a perimeter we've got a 58 here we'll need traffic Etc
happy you've got a male and a female what way did they go westbound 105. 10-4 09
this one was pretty much of a shock to us we were stopped right near 104 in the George and uh
talking to someone just as the call was coming in as the report of a possible impaired MBA and we were only about a
quarter block away as we pulled up saw pretty much of a horrendous scene there's a body
a pedestrian that had been struck was obviously deceased the body suffered a great deal of trauma
and so now we're dealing with this as a crime scene we've got the dog man out looking for the two people from the
truck we've got the area cordoned off the traffic analysts coming out we have every available car out doing Patrols in
the area and setting up perimeter and with any luck we'll find the people here in the area if not at least we'll be
able to uh initiate our investigation along or pursuing the registered owner of the
truck and try and go that route and see if we can identify the driver and just deal with it as we go
we've been trying to piece together what happened here and based on what the eyewitness has said and what the
physical evidence is showing it looks like the truck was northbound on King George Highway at a high rate of speed
as he reached 104a Avenue here he probably first hit this little traffic Island and then continued on northbound
and drove right up onto the sidewalk you can see this light pole here there's fresh damage to the wood
a mirror from the truck is on the ground with the broken glass and there's a few
paint samples of that on the wood the truck thing continued northbound and somehow
avoided heating that light pole hard enough to stop him and avoided hitting this parking sign on the left it's
probably right around here where the pedestrian would have been standing you can see his hat
just off in the parking lot and the body was thrown up against the sign here for
the Money Mart from that point there's debris from the truck strewn about as well as some objects
from the body we have the fellow's wallet some ID cards here and the truck continued northbound
just clipped another truck that was parked here in the auto dealership you can see just a little bit of a paint
scraping there on the bumper of this truck that was parked that's right continued North after
taking out the uh concrete Boulevard here and once again made it just between two
fairly large poles either with either of which could stop stop the truck dead and
uh avoid it from continuing further but it managed to make it through and went on another 30 feet or so at which
point the two occupants bailed out and ran it would appear that the truck was obviously going a very high rate of
speed there's a lot of damage to the truck he hit a lot of smaller objects and managed to continue going
you can see substantial damage to the passenger side of the truck here at the front
and this would have been the area that first clipped the light pole there's a little bit of possibly some
blood up here on the Grill in front of the radiator from this point the traffic analyst will
be attending the scene he'll try and reconstruct the accident determine exactly what had happened
our item section will attend fingerprint the vehicle fingerprint some items I've
been left behind and attempt to determine who was in the truck at the time of the accident
and also we'll utilize some outside firms there's engineering firms that we'll use I can
try and determine the exact speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident they
base that on the damage to the vehicle and also analyzing the debris left at the scene in the distance that it
traveled after the Collision other than the information that we'll be able to follow up on as far as
registered owner of the vehicle probably our our next best lead or Revenue investigation will be this beer can that
was left behind hopefully there'll be fingerprints on it and our ident people will be able to come up with a suspect
for us from that what did ucu came down 104. right in King George and I saw the truck
coming up to and right like the rest and looks like uh he was swerving all over and uh and the boy walking Us in the
sidewalk and the truck hurts before the boy and they cut to the boy the voice tried to run no chance and they've
flipped back to the truck and after the the truck go all the way around and stop the
he tried to pull the back to run no chance because I was stuck beside the truck he tried to back up yeah he tried
to back up and because my van parked beside the truck I didn't got a chance to go and they run out the boy the man
run out from the street to middling Street the girl takes about a couple couple seconds she looked for something
inside the truck and they across the stick they run out so it's a guy that was driving the boy they got a beer can
in his hand I don't know maybe a Pepsi or I believe he's a beer can in his van and they drive
yeah I know there's a beer can right there yeah so the fellow saw the truck coming in he
tried to get out of the way but yeah they came right up on the sidewalk and didn't have a chance no chance no even I
saw the boy around I'd like to run to this way no obsessive the truck always come come sit and what went to The Boy
The Boy flip back probably five feet back did it look like maybe they swerved at him or was it
just because they were drunk and drove off the road no they don't no no I don't believe they they didn't produce
dead because he's grown just because he's gone alcohol's a wonderful thing eh oh yeah
nobody drink when driving yeah that's for sure yeah this would be nice you know I wish
I wish the Dodge DMV cuts the the driving even the the girl you know yeah well certainly we'll do our best to get
them this is the most tragic consequences of impaired driving and is a perfect example of why we place such an emphasis
on drinking driving there's going to be a family that's pre-devastated this morning when we
notify them that their son or that their brother has been killed a lot of people be suggesting that would
have been much better off if the driver had been killed rather than The Pedestrian and I certainly can't
disagree with that you know we were out every night checking people at the bars checking vehicles and trying to
put an end to drinking driving but there's just too much of it going on and it's for a lot of people it's an
accepted way of life and I think you don't have to see this too many times to uh to make you think twice about having
a drink than getting into a car and driving [Music] foreign [Music] just stand by we're parked around the

by uh Balmoral anymore Burnaby two eight I think nerd's on tonight can you check their office

leave it there and come back soon the window's still open and there's people around
tell whoever's coming up to come up hall right to the Middle Gate Mall at the rear and not to go down Balmoral because
they'll see them just a rear metal gate eh yeah we're parked in the side there kind
of in the Alcove where they can't see us but if special projects is on they might
want to take over and if Echo 16's here they might want to come up as well we're going to be 2-8
was the description on the uh the girl I call the complainant back and he states that it was a white female
it's got short blonde hair with brown roots she's in her late 20s she's wearing in blue jeans with the shirt he
can't remember the color she was talking to a male before she left the vehicle and a nail is in a beige station wagon
that guy took off in the station wagon and the last known 20 for the female was there should be a white picnic table
there and there's a balcony she went inside that Suite 10-4 and the way she's left the vehicle
it looks like she's going to be coming back out so we'll give it a bit and if she doesn't then we can go in and NAB
her in the apartment I broke it up at the end but I understand you wait until she comes back
out copy what the call is as a citizen saw a vehicle pull up in front of the apartment in South Burnaby woman got out
and apparently wrapped something around the steering wheel which is usually indicative of them trying to hide the
fact that it's been punched the ignition or it's cracked and it's a stone so we've drove by casually ran the plate
sure enough it's a burn to be stolen we have a description of the person what we're going to do is set up here and
wait out of sight hope that the person who happens to be female comes back and then grab her before she gets the car in
motion trying to avoid a Chase foreign okay we got her she's walking uh Southbound on the uh
the west side of the street then she's just uh just kind of 10 standing in the middle
of the road on Arcola and he'll be talking to her here in just for a second I stole a car no your possession is
still on fire all right thank you come on up to the police car here you know you would join your arrest for no I
don't know um okay I'll put you in a car I'll be right back Steve you're being arrested for possession of
stone property okay what property we saw you get out of that vehicle and stolen vehicle a vehicle up here we saw you got
a couple hours ago I got out of the station wagon you got any needles or anything sharp in here I'm going to
stick myself with no no I got out of a station wagon okay you sure right no needles yes I'm positive I know the
apartment and the other hooker and the John's in there right now it might be a garage over there it might
be a good idea to go in and knock on the door too because uh and check the John and her out I got more information from
this guy about her she's apparently a heroin dealer and she's got it in a lot of times she has one partner well if you
drive by to the stone with me I'll show you where it is you know what the unit number is no you can see which apartment
but I can't tell we'll just let me check it out yeah you just uh you're just in here with a prostitute knocked two
minutes ago and you just walked out and uh what we want to do is find out which apartment you went to okay and then
what's that no you did yeah you did we saw you coming here with a prostitute not uh five minutes ago
yeah who was the girl you're with then do you know her is she a friend of yours yeah we saw you going with her just
about uh five minutes ago you want to step out of the vehicle for me please is that your mom
Susie oh yeah is she in there today yeah how come you guys are out in the hall who's that
what's the police you kids come here for a minute how come you're out here by yourself
open up or we're kicking the door in well hurry up put some on she's getting rid of it
hurry up you here alone yeah yeah John's left eh you're John hello yeah who is this
oh gee Matt this is the RCMP your wife's busy for a while no he's upstairs yeah oh well she's just
having a bad night you can call her later okay yeah I know but you can't talk to her
right now okay that was uh Matt and a phone he said he'll call you tomorrow I can't call
okay what's going on yeah it's not mine it was a girl no of course not what's her name
um Lisa and she's a friend of yours she just got ready here and left she's in the back of my car now yeah because she
just got and I knew something was up there last night hobby where'd you get the blood the blood roll up your sleeves
I have some real concerns one about the kids so Steve's upstairs by himself here
he comes back found some heroin I'd like to get the dog in to do a search and then
she's just shot up so we're probably gonna have to take her back too just let me talk to Steve here for a minute and
then I'll let you know Steve do you want to talk to me friend have a seat at the table like I told you
to have to see the table [Music] table okay nope have a seat table yeah no not yet have a seat table I'll
get to you in a minute okay okay okay the kids are upstairs with him okay they're gonna be okay in your
information okay fine up there so we're gonna arrest her for possession and um Kathy's gonna take her back too and then
uh the dog's gonna come have a look around just in case there's more at least we can flush it down the toilet
there the lady we arrested walking down the street uh was uh described To Us by a witness as the person that had been
driving the stolen vehicle so we arrested her previous to that a prostitute and her customer had arrived
and got into the apartment while we were conducting surveillance in the area we then found out that there's some
children in the apartment as well and we're kind of concerned that somebody would be turning tricks in an apartment
with children present we went into the apartment building we found the kids in the hallway and Mom I guess was just
inside cleaning up so when we knocked on the door she let us in and uh she also had some heroin in her hand at the time
we're going to be giving her a promise to appear to show up in court at a later date the kids are going to be staying
with the neighbor upstairs who will provide a healthy environment for the kids and we'll be taking our lady
who stole the or who's driving the stolen vehicle back to the office to be held for court in the morning
incidentally the woman in the apartment that we're giving the promise to appear to right now
uh her husband is presently in custody in Matsui Penitentiary serving time for getting in a high-speed chase and
injuring a Delta police officer about eight or nine months ago so it kind of looks like it runs in the family
we're heading to a call at the sky train station at Royal Oak Transit Police are holding
a suspect they've arrested there and apparently he's given them a bit of a problem
yeah that's better for you what's he doing he refused to show his proof of payment so we asked him to get
off the train and he wasn't going to end up being pepper sprayed oh okay Google [Music]
just relax okay they're always always talk favorably over you guys what's your name you don't
have to tell you well you do actually you do actually well you don't have to ask you didn't
have to ask me anything you just handcuffed me what's your name right well you I'll tell you right now
you're not going to get out of jail until you give us your name okay I mean I I might have I
well I didn't arrest you well you don't I'm sure I'm sure that I am essentially the sky Train uh Constable asked the
fellow for proof of payment he was sleeping on the sky tree and um he uh was verbally abusive refused to come up
with proof of payment and then was asked to leave the train he refused to do so and then was physically taken off the
train was resisting and so the sky Train Constable head to pepper spray the man that's why he's he's in pain right now
oh man I got nothing to do with the handcuffs but I'm trying to get rid of this demon in your mind how's yourself
I I mean I don't believe that I got a ticket to get on a strike trainer what's your first name come on man
there's something nice and wet here's something nice and wet it's gonna go right on the eyes it'll feel good man
it'll feel good okay I'm a police officer for SkyTrain okay sir listen are you gonna listen to me you're
not going to listen to me okay well I'm going to read it to you anyways okay right now you are under arrest for
obstruction of a peace officer my duty to inform you that you have the right to retain struck Council without delay you

asked you to get off the train from the next station verbally abusive [Music] physical
I think that's great as far as he's being diligent he's fine but he just sat there so he's been
arrested for obstruction in this case because I ended up having a Sprint six or seven times before I
finally I control them I'm going to go ahead with uh instruction charges okay have you ever been in trouble before
yeah who hasn't been in trouble okay listen the rules are I've got to put the cuffs on I'll put them in front so you
can hold the thing on to your face okay well I'm telling you I do listen listen I'm telling you I do okay
well look at Sydney I don't want to argue with you I took the cards off me because I never put the handcuffs on
you listen to me okay give me a break no these are the rules there Sydney [Music]
is that loose there it's nice and loose oh they want a guy to go and take a skytrade
there you go you're gonna come back to the Burnaby detachment and we're gonna let's find my ticket
I don't know what happened on the sky trains well I don't know either but obviously
you've listened to me listen to me for a minute listen to me for a minute you've had a little bit too much to
drink here okay I didn't have too much well I can smell some alcohol on you okay
okay well all I'm gonna do is if there's no point in me talking to you here listen to me
you're going to go back to the office get some fingerprints and a picture taken and uh once that's done we'll see
about getting you out of there okay no I'm not what do you mean no you're not why should I well
okay if you want to be the tough guy and not cooperate here then you're going to
stay in jail for the rest of the night I I just have to fall well listen I don't know what happened
on the sky Train I wasn't at the sky Train okay I'm telling you you've been arrested by by a policeman okay I
thought in Canada you were interested in typical guilty well you'll have your day
in court okay you'll have your day in court okay guilty already before okay you want to serve them and we'll get out

it was then taken into the beach whatever I'm not sure there's been a complaint called in about
a possible drowning so now we're just curb the edge of the swimming area here and see if we can come up with anything
or if anyone waves at us to indicate that something may have happened I've got a couple of fellas
walking along the shore doing the same thing so we're just gonna have to [Music]
get you guys to clear the area one side or the other please [Music] 15 feet of water and uh so be inside the
boys who definitely are he's wearing uh he's kind of hanging on the raft he went
backwards and he went down and never came back up with a yellow box of shorts so where where's the Raptor where's the
rafters brought in see these chairs yeah and from talking to somebody here supposed to be half an hour ago we had
we received a call of a male possibly a drowning victim just off Skinner SkyHouse Lake Beach
made attempts to locate the person on Shore the beach was quite crowded we had to evacuate part of
the beach according off the area a diver from Pennington detached was just gone in the water it's possibly 15 feet of
water where the person has uh allegedly went in and we're just waiting to see what the divers come up with

cut the ends off in the corners big cuts if you're draining the water afraid you got it

it's been 12 minutes since the diver went down he uh he has recovered the body of a male
gentleman and we're just bringing him to shore now and the ambulance service can
uh take him to the uh the morgue and the corner can examine the body once it gets
here [Music] thank you [Music] right now 25 where I found them you want to drop some levels off and
drop some left off and out you get little cut holes so anybody walking because with James is walking all of a
sudden he's just yeah oh yeah that's deep when it drops off but it only drops off like five or six feet at a time
seven feet at a time [Music] we've brought the body of the nail that drowned up on shore
the corner is going to be taking a look at the subject it just uh goes to show that
it doesn't take a great amount of water to uh hurt or kill somebody and um safety always has to be number one when
playing in water yeah results like this can be painful for families and friends for years to

call unconscious person in a vehicle and the vehicle is engulfing planes we're responding as well as uh the
ambulance and I believe a traffic car so it's under these circumstances it's important that we make it there as soon
as possible to help out the victim oh yeah as you can see I put my fence through
the window you saved your life open up the door unlock it and we both pulled her out and this lady here actually did
multiple malls and my sister was the young lady breathing when did she go out to the curb about
half hour I guess yeah she was out there for about 25 minutes to burn paper in the car I can take it
and go to the hospital whatever you want all right so anyways like so she's in good hands right now you can relax
yeah you keep saying you leave now I'm gonna kill myself right you know I think was a good idea obviously she has some
psychological problems yeah are you gonna maybe take her to the mental health clinic all right well
first of all she's going to want to have help she's going to go she's going to go
to the hospital tonight and obviously uh they'll look after her right and she may
want to see or that they may put her in contact with a psychiatrist all right all right but you need some help okay
she can be there overnight can she be kept there overnight I would I would assume she's going to be up there for
observation at least till tomorrow okay so maybe a few Rangers might show up in the morning all you gotta do is show up
in the morning show up in the morning early in the morning right talk going to the emergency emergency department talk
to the nurses tell them who you are explain your concerns and tell them that you tried to end your life here by
lighting the car on fire and stuff like that if you could see that yeah yeah and
uh and tell him that she should be talking to a psychiatrist or a doctor so they may put her in the psych ward to uh
to figure out right observation absolutely I've been wanting to leave her and just what's going on right and
all this stuff and I don't need this yeah so I'm sitting here around the computer and then banging I fired them
how long has she been in the car before you uh broke the window it was about 25-20 minutes how long were you taking
the car yeah I'm fine thanks Bill how long would you get in a car would you say before the fire starts a good half
hour good half an hour last name thank you it'd be about 25 minutes out an hour she was in the car again
was the fire going pretty good one well it wasn't really uh there was a lot of smoke I appreciated
those two proceeded to break the windows through this way yeah I broke but she wasn't really breathing too much she
wasn't breathing at all at that time that's good I mean it's not good just wasn't breathing but it's good that the
nurse came along and helped her out because it's good that you guys came along at the right time I noticed the
fire and I thought and that's as soon as I uh sorry it's okay yeah did she make any mention anything she
mentioned that she was going to do this oh she was just outside exactly about 95 of it yeah
um did she mention uh was there a fight between him well there was an argument not really no fight or abuse of anything
of that sort arguing sure because what it all started out believe it or not his cousin's in there
she's a female they were all by the back of the show talking and she came out and
accused him of all this which caused an argument and then she was asked to walk to the car and sit out in the car and
wait for him to leave or whatever all right and then she said that proceeded to do what she did aren't you loving
common law you told me Dennis with my girlfriend I said it's been my girlfriend for a year and a half but you
live in common law with a girl that was in the car here yeah off and on like I go down and spend a night or two but
it's been I live with my mom and dad I see where I live yeah it was a trick question yeah
no no all right she's in good hands show up at the hospital tomorrow that's where she's going
I know well it's a small price to pay to save somebody's life I know yeah okay all right good night
foreign [Music] why is your license plate wired on like this why because I can't find enough
holes to put it on it I don't know does it belong in this car yeah are the registration's end if they're not on
fire all right is it necessary or what I just want to take just want to take a quick
look at your registrations was the fact that there's a totally different license
plate on the front of the car sounds like a traffic file for me not unless it's moving
yeah the reason I'm asking Dennis is that you've got two different plates on the vehicle
[Music] look like the only normal person in this house normal wait a second here see look
at that yeah throwing your cigarettes at the police I would assume that this plate doesn't
belong in this car no that'd be my guess what does it belong to huh well the blade does but uh the plate is for a
friend's car and he lent me the plate because I just bought the car so you're driving with no insurance Dennis yes I
know and I won't be sure tonight where would you like the car towed to how about in the yard here and he brings
the truck out here well a few uh push it and not drive it push in the yard and if
I uh if I catch you driving that's no insurance yeah all right hey Sean hey don't worry about it Dennis my car can't
leave because of the repair charge yours ain't going unless everywhere exactly so
I got put this in there and the truck's gonna come on get a silver driver to move that truck out of the driveway I
will get these uh neanderthals to push this car into the driveway yeah all right the car is not to move until you
get proper Insurance behind the tow truck yes you understand yes and I caught you driving you'd be looking at
300 fine I know all right I don't need no more trouble you have a lot of problems you do it all right good night
okay good night guys I'll be checking on a little later Hall on 104 at 132 there 134. you're
welcome just give it a few minutes but I'll be checking on it later and Dennis I'm also
going to do a broadcast to all the other cars in Surrey to be on the lookout if that car moves
spending the night here when are you going to get insurance on it Monday morning first thing Monday morning
all right that's what happened this file here is we responded to a car engulfed in flames a female was locked inside of
it when we got here the fire was out it was a very minor fire seat uh sustained maybe a five percent burn on
it and she was passed out on the lawn she was rescued if you can call it that by one of her her boyfriend's friends
and what is the combination of too much sucker tonight and um and the fact that she had a fight
with her boyfriend she tried to end her life here in her car and you can see the
condition everybody was in the biggest problem they had tonight is they're all drunk the young lady will be taking the
hospital and kept there for observation which will probably be released after a psychiatrist talks or about what she
tried to do here tonight okay if you hit my car you're in a lot of trouble now yeah
