When the police arrived to the crime scene, their first interaction with the living witness
was odd. Officers responded to Nick Cordova's office after a 911 call from his wife,
and she knew something had happened to her husband because he was on FaceTime with their kids when they heard this
loud noise and then he stopped responding. But police could see that there was still movement inside the building, and
when they got there, a man was like peeking through the blinds. And when he saw police, he announced himself, said
he was Dave, Nick's business partner. And the officers told him to come out, but instead, Dave like cracked the door
open and then handed them a bloody gun saying, "I'm his partner. That's my gun. I'm sorry." When officers tried to get
inside, they couldn't. Nick had been shot in the head and his body was blocking the door. But when they finally
got in, the scene was chaotic. Nick's desk had been shoved out of place. There was money on the floor, a tooth, clear
signs of a struggle. Meanwhile, Dave is outside and one officer describes him as
acting hysterical. He's like crying and pacing back and forth. He says he was there when two masked men came in,
robbed the place, and they hit Dave in the head and took his money. He told police he gave them, quote, "Everything
he had." But almost immediately, something doesn't add up because when officers search Dave, he still has over
a thousand dollars in his pocket. So was he just frazzled after this like incident was mistaken, or was his lie
deliberate? And if that's the case, what else should we be questioning?
