we see on the drama series each and every week these incredible cases but now we're seeing the real life stories
behind so many of them it's a a very different look at how the cases unfold the thing that I'm most honored by is to
be able to sort of introduce the agents and their cases we're the ones who are usually telling the story on our on it's
it's the opposite now I'm I'm the setup man for for for the real agents and their real stories and and it's it's
it's great it's a very close family when it comes to NC it is a close family in the make believe world we solve a case
in an hour at the at the end of the hour you know usually the bad guy gets brought to Justice in the real world in
the real cases of NCIS some of these cases go on for months and for years so the the the sense of commitment and that
sense of immediate closure doesn't always happen the length of time they carry this it's not just an hour but
sometimes years before they get a crack in these cases and and these these agents you become very close to the
these cases you come you become very close to the people involved in them the families who've lost somebody the the
there's the the ripple effect of having lost somebody that you're close to and these once even though the cases
sometimes will will come to an end emotionally you don't just put that all on the shelf and just move on to the
next case they carry these cases with them they live with them um and these cases stay with them and they don't
forget

The actor, who plays Director Leon Vance on the CBS' fictional drama "NCIS," narrates a new series from "48 Hours" about the real-life Naval Criminal Investigative Service -- the real agents and the cases they can't forget. WCBS' Mary Calvi spoke with Carroll about the series premiering tonight at 10/9c on CBS.
