Off The Record /// Episode #58 | Forensic Files

[Applause] [Applause] okay we're good we're live yeah but not alive was a long weekend I don't think I
stayed up that late that many times and many those years I think I think I went to bed at 1:00 every night or in that
area i am i played it easier the some of the some of the things work early and they're not like it's not super easy to
get to them you know yell wake up and get get ready in them and then make your way through everything and the hotel was
the layout was good but it was it was a long walk to get to everything he had crime gone all the way at one hand at
that i don't know where you were located but but my hotel room was all the way up
the other end but one thing i noticed right from Jump Street is that they they being crime Don seemed to be getting you
know they're learning you know we're growing with crime gone it's only been in three years but not
only are they growing in the number of attendees and the number and the number of attractions but they're also growing
in the way that they're learning how to one better organize things lay things out and present things in a really like
almost like a like a Hollywood style in the sense that now you know much different than a few years ago at
Indianapolis this year when you walk in you you know you're walking into something big and that there's really a
lot of stuff going on and I really thought the entrance to everything was very cool and then it was really cool
how you had all the exhibit were were were right they're really the ones that they were using the most were
immediately to your right and to your left right when you went in there and I know the crime times always going to be
at the mercy of whatever Convention Center that they choose to use in to a host but it I don't know I don't know if
they're just getting really good at what they're doing or if this year's convention center layout you know where
you was better but even just something as simple as the crime Kahn store you know it's selling books and t-shirts and
shot glasses and whatever even just that was um that was immediately noticed by me that it was well in the last two
years I know one I should say I don't remember too much about Indianapolis was only there a short period of time I
didn't really run around and look at everything but you know last year that when we were doing podcast road they
were still unpacking boxes of things to stock the shelves with for their store and this year you walked in and it was
set up it was pristine it was it looked really good and it was separated it was separated from everything else to where
where you know last year the podcast row and the store and and some of the exhibits all kind of bled into one
another so where there was no clear-cut boundaries of what you're walking into or getting into and one thing I thought
was really cool too for us whoever whatever group of the crime con people that are in charge of podcast Row one
thing that I noticed - or that I this is just a suspicion I have I don't can't confirm this but it seems to me like the
group that's in charge of that must be listening to these podcasts because the I can't first ii believe that they we
just happen to be you know our location we had Generation Y right behind us we had Tim and Lance
from crawl space right / bias we had Bill Hoffman from who killed Amy Mahalo Vic we had James Renner author you know
to his two bills left and so a lot of the people that we've done crossovers with and that we've worked with on on
our podcast or their podcast you know we were all positioned in the same area of
podcast row which was which was really neat and so I think that that was done purposefully - and in a neat way you
know it's like people come up and say hi to us and then immediately go all there's the crawl space guys there's the
genoise guys and to not have to walk very far to get to but the other thing too that was great is especially
comparing to last year the number of podcasters there seemed a lot more this year as well and it changed it up - I
know from talking to a couple people that they didn't invite some of the ones from before invited - new ones because
of conflict trying to have that lineup change so I thought that was pretty neat and then I made the big mistake by
upgrading my hotel which spoking on a higher floor so any time I had to go back to my room it was like a bigger
chore do you know what do you know what floor you were going to be on if you hadn't
had not upgraded or do it what was this upgrade already made I think it was like
fourth or fifth floor yeah because I was wondering I didn't see anybody that we knew on my floor and I was wondering if
they were you know if they were putting those people together or not but as much
as you come and go from your room I would have thought that I would have seen somebody at some point but I do
know some podcasters that didn't even that didn't stay at the hotel to begin at a different hotel and I think some
were some may have been invited later than others and I think you know I don't know how quick that Hotel filled up
actually I have I do have some general idea because I do know somebody a friend of mine who went and they booked their
hotel maybe March I'm guessing so right over there was space they're available have no idea how many rooms that hotel
had it was huge well my thought was the higher up I got maybe the closer I got to keep more so
that was my goal and it wasn't like I got I got a upgrade but the room wasn't any different I feel like my room has
looked the same for three crimes but they've been in different hotels really yep last year though I mean that that
resort was was extremely cool and I loved having the indoor balcony yes in Nashville that was sweet because it was
a way of like stepping out of your room but not really leaving your room and that was very good matter of fact I fell
asleep on a second floor balcony here in Florida last night look staring at the ocean I woke up
about 3:30 in the morning in my chair and had a do a nice crawl to bed but yeah so Orlando is next year and then I you
know there's never any really we always kind of just think we're going because you know that I've never been a part of
any official invite this you know this early in the game so we always just kind of assume we're going and
at some point we'll hear from somebody but what I heard was this convention center is very similar to the Opryland
Convention Center where it has multiple restaurants and bars with inside the Convention Center so yeah I heard the
same thing and I heard that from ia and forgive me I do not know the name of the
convention center of engines just the Orlando Convention Center or something I have no idea but yeah I did hear the
same thing that is it's set up in a way that you you would never have to feel the the urge to leap you know there's
enough there and they did have those amenities at this hotel and Convention Center I will say I thought the my
general thought of the hotel restaurant and bar the food was very good but the bar was a little tricky because one I
thought the drinks were very expensive at the hotel bar and I like I paid 15 bucks for vodka soda and and and I
believe in leaving a generous tip and so that made that about the soda of the choice of water drink yeah the most
expensive drink of my trip so far you know and I'm in four days four or five days on on travel here and they had and
then the other thing is they had a lot of tables at the bar but I don't think they had the ability to handle the
volume if they filled all those tables which they did because there was so many people there so many people want to
catch a drink or two but downtown well know if it's you would call it downtown the Bourbon Street and then making your
way to and from Bourbon Street some of the bars there just had fantastic bartenders at some you know some of the
places who kind of dives where you walk in and it's the kind of maybe you just want to get a beer or you
just want to get a shot and a beer and that's it but then there's other places that you could tell this is a place this
is an establishment that you want to order a cocktail because they know what they're doing they know how to fix these
babies up and so I did have some really really fantastic cocktails all that involved bourbon on Bourbon Street and
they were fantastic and did not cost me $15 for north it's for the cocktail so I
didn't get to see much of New Orleans but when that's what we said last week though we just you just know that going
in because we're kind of hunkered down working most of the day and then the meetup that you and Morgan organized for
Friday night was really good it was really cool at Ernst cafe which was really nice I liked how they had the
balcony at Ernst Cafe on the second floor you know everybody can kind of spill out onto the balcony and so we it
we had a group of people Thursday night and we went out and and I posted on Instagram hey come out you know this for
drinking then turned into about I don't know say 30 30 people total and and they'd come out have a couple drinks and
doesn t even it right when I was about ready to leave plays your case probably go home
Tandy gets her sleep before crime Tom starts the next day and then here comes Tim and Lance and art from the
documentary the disappearance of Mauri Mauri on oxygen shell and and being a big fan
of his oh here's my chance to drink with art and he was he was already in party mode so I said I'm behind pretty late
right well I didn't know how late it was okay probably about two and then me and
artists sir drinking heavily and our heart is a dancer so he adapted with all the ladies
and I would just had a really good time and then Lance was wearing a mustard colored yes shirt remember coming home
yes so that was made by night because it was the worst shirt I've ever seen and and then next thing you know it's like 5
o'clock in the morning 6 o'clock in the morning and work and we're walking back to the hotel and but while we're there
the bartender his name was Adam supercool guy I was like hey what are you guys doing tomorrow is there like
can we have a meet-up here instead of because we're going to have it at the hotel bar but I was like let's have it
at a place where the drinks are 25 bucks yeah things like yeah not only can you have it here but there's an upstairs
come back tomorrow so we saw Morgan went down there checked it out set is cool they said they could house two
bartenders but within you know because the people that came out Friday night were such party animals that they ran
out of beer really quick and couple people were complaining about it I was like hey these these guys didn't know
about what they're getting into until right and till that day and the guy was like you know I could open up the
upstairs for you are you going to at least have 50 people and we're like yeah of course while at least let you people
what turned into the whole upstairs be impacted about the balcony be impact the balcony was a lot of fun and just to
hang out with everybody on Maggie was there crawl space was there and mind of madness was there so many other
podcasters hanging out and then to see so many people from crime Con one in crime gone too
was really cool as well well and I'm not like so Tim and lamps they seem to me like and we know this from when they
come to Columbus and just in general but they they seem like night owls like they're like night guys and me not some
I still like to get up early in the morning and I'll hang as long as I can but like our meetup I guess technically
was it wouldn't be till about 9:00 and wasn't like a hard start or anything like that it was you know kind of come
as you please but I went over there at 8:00 because you know I'm up the type I don't I don't like waiting around all
day to start drinking 1 & 2 I don't like to be going to bed too late and so whenever they're 8 instead of at 9 and
you know it was just 2 of us that walked in and the room was empty so they got crap I wanted to go early but I didn't
want to be the first one there and then as I made my way there was a little corner there as I made my way and
through the room often the corner was was Justin in a couple people so Justin from Generation Y and I was like sweet
I'm not the first one here and he and I just had the best conversation as we were you know waiting for the the room
to fill up and it very quickly did and and I know our intention was we were even telling people hey come over Earth
cafe and drink and talk and watch the basketball game with us and I didn't wash I probably watched about two
minutes of the basketball game but are they planning their playing tonight right I believe so and but when he did
about Justin's generation why is his wife was there so it was nice to finally meet her because I've heard so much
about her through Justin and that she's such a rockstar she's such a cool person that she would
have these crowds of people around her more than just a bit because kept on saying nobody wants to talk to
me they want to talk to boys and then later that I I got to the point where I keep you know people are coming up and
taking pictures and which is cool because I'd rather get a picture at a bar with somebody than that I had a
Convention Center but so that was happening but my feet were just killing me because I think that day we had like
a three hour podcast row thing and we stood the whole time for spamming all thought yeah
so I've actually sat down and then I got into a heated debate with Aaron from on
the podcast sitting upstairs are you good from one of a hundred and seven degrees it's a podcast that's about the
Mara Mary Kate she's really close to the Murrays and so it's a Scott which I just
met him his super awesome guy he did a really cool thing too like he's one of those guys where you
you hire a super engine sound but he so he's a sound guy I prayed but he started
this company where he goes into like these giant mansions and big houses connects all their technology and so
he's showing me all these things he did but he runs the armory I think Facebook group our Facebook page and so we're
talking to him and then Aaron from 107 degrees me and her got into this his record he needed debates as well then we
basically created like a crowd of people like listening to the base and uh and the fight they those out me and her have
debated quite a bit on Twitter so I wasn't like hey nice to meet you we've had all these kids beats and we always
in the debates on on a friendly note it's always like okay well I'll agree with you on this and how I agree with
you on that but you're giving me something to think about I mean dive into this information so I
thought oh well now we're meeting a person well we'll just kind of shoot the [ __ ] and have a good time now I went
right to debating again so now I just prefer to hear people's thoughts their theories their opinions yeah but some
people you like to debate with you know yeah thank you you know so was it was a it wasn't a bad debate it was actually
is this funny to me that the majority of the conversation that I've had with her
online have been debate and then that carried over to actual real life but but was really cool with Scott
Aaron Maggie and and so many people were saying hey you gotta meet Julie Marie because she would like to possibly sit
down jamish talked about coming out to Columbus and fit in the garage and actually do him interview that way which
we which would be cool because she'd she's actually a CrossFit affiliate owner meaning she owns a CrossFit gym
and in Columbus Ohio being huge in the CrossFit community like she's like well we go out there often anyways so that
was really cool and it's kind of neat to see a family that's involved in a case for so long that have kind of been um
reserved about talking to certain individuals to actually now say hey look we're trying to make a couple things
happen and we've now seen with these podcasts and with with documentaries and how that has helped our case and now we
want to get more involved so well yeah and then you had one thing I think that's very important to point out is
the with the Delphi partners presentation it was an hour-long presentation and it it's not new
information it's not like they're giving crime taught people some kind of secret
on the down low whoa about the case it's important to stress this the family members of these
two victims are simply there a crime thought to remind everybody that hey this is what happened we're still
looking for this this the perpetrator of this terrible crime and one thing that I
found very interesting during the presentation is fight the father the grandfather I'm sorry he you know he
said look we're still doing this stuff not only for the very reason that he was I still meet people that say I've never
heard of the space which is mind-blowing to true crime people and to crime thought people but you know because it
was national news in him but they are not going to stop working and they're not going to stop until everybody is
made aware of it so everybody sees the information and one thing that I thought was very cool too was to hear them say
you know we are yes we are working the case you know being the family and that they still pass out information and they
do things like crime caught and but it is the police you know it's the Indiana State Police's job to do the work the
investigation itself so when when they're asked you know so what what kind of work are you doing on the case the
investigation other thing other than keeping it in in the media that's really their only job but what they are doing
is they they are taking they've set up these different fundraisers and different ways to to make money and
they're building a big park with baseball diamonds and softball fields and stuff like that and his memory of
the two girls which is very cool because that's something that will be you know hopefully we catch this guy very
soon and that may end a chapter in in their lives of the family but with this this Park in this place where the
community can go and take their children and things like that will be around for
a long long time and I think that's really cool that that's happening and it's not the best their dream this is in
the process of of habit you know right I'm one and I'm the same kind of sentiment not to me Brianna Brianna
Maitland father Bryn Bruce yet and for him to be there to say well look we don't know if we're going to ever get
any more answers on my daughter's case but what we can do is you know with this foundation to raise money to help other
families that can't afford a private investigator for them to be able to then come in and help help out with that on
the financial side and and and back to the Mara Mary thing real quick because I thought this was interesting basically
what the New Hampshire State Police were saved for the longest time in smoke now
with this that the latest search that they did on those houses with the cadaver dogs that and from the bigging
and they did was well okay now we'll work we're trying to establish a new relationship we got a new relationship a
new kind of pact with a family mate and it is just this just kind of hearsay what I've heard but you know there's
speculation you know one that she hit a tree with her car or possibly hit snowbank but the tree that they thought
she hit it had a bow around it for so long and the first order after they established this new relationship was to
then talk to the family about removing the bow from the tree and if that's true it's like that's how you want to start
the new relationship right that oh you know so it's weird is on one sense of the thing you have
you have with the Delphi murders the family saying look that you know the cops are doing with a cannon we want to
support them but then you look at a case like Maura Marie where they feel like they're not doing enough work or even
make it the Brianna Maitland you know obviously he didn't feel like they did enough work because starting a
foundation for to help other families get private investigators so but but it's good well with with Delphi I mean
it was incredible that the Indiana State Police even again this year sent the communications officer to attend crime
con and be a part of that presentation and that all and and the part of the presentation for the Marberry panel this
year was supposed to be a representative of the New Hampshire State Police and they didn't send them they told them
they would and then back down on it so right there you see the big difference in the big contrast between two
investigations and how they're being worked and it I feel like the removing the foe from the tree is almost like
weak we don't want to we don't want the constant reminder of this bow and of what we may have dropped the ball on or
you know and we in their defense we did say when we covered a Mar Marie that it was they were working behind the
eight-ball from the get-go because they were looking at something that really just looked like an abandoned car and
they happen so many times for me drinks too much and realizes it on the way or wrecks their car or runs in the car
trouble and just leaves it there and that would be what I would expect myself to assume happened within the first
couple of hours but again I feel like not too long after that there they were aware that something else probably
happened and the the bow the bow is just like oh we don't want to be reminded of this this it seems to me
like that investigation and those the agency working it well if they are actually working it they it seems to be
more of a problem for them rather than an investigation that they're pursuing yeah let's go was Tony Aaron is you know
we can't go back and fix their mistakes but at the same time like you were saying the initial get into the car
initially you're talking about car that there's cars passing so the officers have to be aware of their own safety so
it's not like they can do a lot nice there at the time clean but the following day that that's where I think
with a lot of these missing person cases come in where there's no answers at all
to me if the next day is be all hands on deck and and that I think that's worth some of the department's and that's
dropping the ball but again you can't plan for when a crash is going to happen I went to those what you're missing and
and what day does that fall on and then the following day how many officers are there and then you can also plan for
what's going to happen and local crime that day either because if you have a very small department and then you have
a couple of them this domestic violence calls or whatever or or a bunch of drunk
drivers that night it can really hinder an investigation which you won't know until you go hey we're we're 15 years
into this thing and we still don't have any answers so it's easy to look back and I think judge you know but hey it's
tough though because you you would you know that's the hard thing when you meet the family members is that if somebody
stuffed up and maybe did something more 15 years ago and maybe there'd be some answers
well and we were very fortunate and I was very appreciative that we had two members of Liberty Germain liberating
Germans family come over to our table to our booth in and thanked us for continuing to cover the Delphi case now
we covered it shortly after the murders and then continued to talk about it on off-the-record and they they thanked us
for continuing to cover it which really made my heart just you know swell and hurt for them at the same time you know
looking them in the eye talking to them face to face and median the sister yeah Kelsey she's amazing and but you know
what also those now that we're a couple days removed from that it kind of has inspired me to want to cover it again on
the big show and I know we will we're doing this where we're revisiting some of our older cases and I you know what
we didn't plan it this way but covering Amy's case again right before leaving for crime thought was really made for
some very interesting conversations that I had with people on Friday and Saturday
night a lot of people wanted to talk about Amy's case and a lot of people had some you know very interesting things to
say and some very interesting questions about it so that was we didn't we we didn't certainly didn't plan it to be
that way but it just kind of worked out really well but that's the case that people want to talk about and we just
happen to drop it right before we left yeah I want to give a couple shout out to this great and I never get to talk to
them enough I believe jog from brain scratch stop by the the meet up but I never get to talk to him and often and
John from scratch does such a good work it's always nice to see him you know we met
him twice now but I really like to sit down and have dinner with him or something because it's such a fan of his
work and then then I met I I introduced you to can and Lauren their promise show
called paradise after dark paradise after dark podcast and it's about Florida murders
they're from Florida and they were just like we met them Thursday they're just the coolest people in the world
yeah I'm Dan amiracle then I saw you at at breakfast and talked to one day and I
went all up next leaving so I'm going to go sit with Ken and Lauren and then at the end of the meal I
realized my uh my debit card is missing I can't find my debit card so I thought maybe I left it at the bar and without
flinching they go we got it don't worry we'll cover no big deal and uh and then what happened was I ended up dropping I
wanted to pull out my hotel card key and drop my debit card right by my door and
then the hotel found it and slipped it under the door whatever put down now has gonna say we would do a full
investigation and has a two-hour fills out an extra well because on Friday night everybody's leaving the meet up
and then it became me a couple people and Aaron from Generation Y and we're still drinking and at this point I was
just doing shot I ended up leaving about and he okay so tell me where you stand on this okay because we haven't
mentioned Bob grass so let's mention Barbara Barbara from truth injustice podcast which is so cool because he's
actually he's been working his butt off you could tell he's been working his butt off - you seem a little tired
he just finished shooting the oxygen documentary he's doing for West Memphis Three right so he tells
me you know hey we're having a drinking contest between me and em right he then comes up to me let's play it's like two
o'clock right and says hey man thanks for doing this meet up it had a lot of fun it's always good to see you and Nick
I'm going to bed see you tomorrow okay see you later he goes to bed I keep drinking for
another two hours so Brett by definition I win the contest right you went to bed Auto dilib
straight yet unless it wasn't like a like we're going to shotgun two beers who can drink them fast right right
right that wasn't the rules with the contest right it was no this was you the speech in three so Lauren the longest
yeah yeah the last man standing wins and Bob clearly was not standing at some point no because he said goodbye he
buddy bit by and then he woke up and yes he woke up and the first thing he did was got a giant Bloody Mary so when I
see him the next day he does Hey look okay a lot of me I'm still drinking and I was like well that's nice and all but
you had seven or nine out yeah after a nine hour break well what he told me was it was a nine
hour nap systems it was a knack and didn't count as an actual sleeping uh so but anyways I I'm convinced that I want
and and look in if he doesn't understand this kind of logic I don't know if I want to watch his documentary I don't I
mean yeah I don't know they didn't channel I don't know that I can trust is a presentation of that anything yeah
mate you know what now so Mike busting who I'm a huge Mike busting fan I got a big poster of them on my wall and he
he's just amazing he's really carrying that truth injustice show on his back and carrying oh he has a lot of slack to
pick up right and Mike wasn't there and I'm starting now that I'm hearing about this contest and Bob's behavior I'm
starting to understand why Mike was not there he he's probably had enough well I
had enough I think God is touching egomaniac is such ego maniac that he could not be in the shadows of Mike all
weekend he's already going to be in the shadows of his wife right right and the flayed David I said when when bob was
leaving I go how long have you and your wife's been married he's a long time ago
I thought you guys were like just recently like engaged and then married like now we've been married for ten
years but that's because he's post all this nice stuff about her all the time you
know and so I thought well there's you know but you know what a nice guy ten years into the marriage and he's still
posting all this nice stuff but she outshines him and then Mike would outshine him and I just think he's too
much of egomaniac too I have that happen so but maybe next year Mike will be there I am joking but do we know do we
have an idea of when the shows coming ounces I'm very eager to watch that I don't know but I told it's going to be a
rocky series right we think yeah I told him to contact us either let's do an interview for the big show or at least
off the record and I mean he's become such good friends with Damian and it was real nice to because not had some strong
words about Damien Echols and wanting to wishing he would be more involved in what Bob said was anything that is asked
of Damian he does and and every chance though that he can create relationships you know he has a
big relationship now at Bob the when it's time to talk about the case he will when it's not time they don't talk about
it say I'm dead away he's really trying to build some kind of existence outside of that because that's the thing he's
known for he knows he's always going to be known for that and so talking with him a lot about how Damian views that
case and and how he's really trying he wants to establish some kind of life outside of that case but is also still
willing to help and then on the other spectrum of things Jason Baldwin is like still in prison
to him they're out and that doesn't matter and he's still in prison and they've done so much stuff but they also
can mentally right yeah to the point where he's you know he's became a lawyer or just want to become a lawyer and
because he's trying to understand as much as they can not just about their own cases but but but this case and what
can he do to help solve this case obviously Jessie Misskelley just doesn't want to have anything to do with anybody
just because you know he's fearful but uh that was interesting and just from that conversation with Bob I said look
we gotta get on the show when it comes out and uh and I'm sure we'll watch it and review it on off the record yeah
yeah I would like to if you know I said no when it came out you know he wants to
come on even just to promote the show beforehand that would be fantastic - but I told him he has to bring Mike Mike has
to talk some yes 9ice well I told him ninety ten ninety Mike ten put and then Bill Thomas I finally met him and he is
Kathy Thomas's over brother you keep it was so great to finally meet him stay the face and he's got a show that will
they're filming though they're doing some more filming in September in October of this year so I wouldn't
anticipate this coming out it is oxygen that is doing it and it's Jim Clemente the the FBI guy that everybody knows
from TV he's involved and it's on the Colonial Parkway murders which was Captain Thomas his younger sister was
was the first double homicide in that in that case and it was very important to me to meet him face to face I I had a
list of people you know I did it I did a Michael Scott you know when Michael Scott was going to say goodbye yet in a
list and he had to check everybody off and I had a list of everybody that I want to make sure that I even if I had
to go way out of my out of my way to see them and speak with them I was going to
and bill was on that list and at the top of that list because when we covered that case and I don't think we mentioned
it on the show I know we've mentioned it on off the record but bill spoke with me for hours
about that case and really heat like a walking encyclopedia of that case and there's there was a very good book
written that was very good that we recommended on the show called a special kind of evil that is is is just covering
that case the Colonial Parkway murders but I told bill I said once you get done filming this you need to write a book
about this case too and because he's just so knowledgeable about it and he's not only that he's been you know after
many years you know he had a very good professional career for many years and now that he is retired from that he
really started focusing in on being a advocate for victims and family members of victims and not only just the
families that that were hurt so badly by the Colonial Parkway murders but then he expanded that too to
all family member vicked UM's and has been involved in a lot of things over the years so I think it'd be really
interesting to see to read a books put together by him on that case and in some of the victims families that he's been
able to help over the years as well would be truly fascinating but his involvement with the filming of this
it's great because there's like filming things in front of him and he keeps there to correct whatever is not right
you know ya didn't say oh no this is this this purse was not on the passenger seat it was in the back seat you know
and he's like he feels he feels almost like the director of it because they'll film stuff and he was like hey wait wait
wait we got to change this and then I'll film it again and so that's really interesting how that's um how that's
working out how that's being filmed long bill and bill had nice so frames yes glasses as well which brings me to
another point is a lot of people going to see these pictures and some of them we have sunglasses on and but I got
tired of answering the question of what how the hell do we have sunglasses on because I'm going I stay down till 6
o'clock in the morning almost every night I'm barely I'm barely coherent and my eyes didn't function at all and it
was just so damn bright in that place it wasn't a good room to to wake up to after a long night of drinking at least
they had the a/c pumping in there the air conditioning pumping real well in there because we've had rooms in the
past that feel nice and comfortable when you get in them but then when they fill
up with people it gets incredibly uncomfortable and I love this ice I was very happy that
well we're still going if cold in here I'm like yeah but I've been in here for two hours and I'm very very comfortable
because they are keeping it cold in here but for me the sunglasses look when I was a kid I grew up reading hit Parader
magazine and and still to this day read Rolling Stone magazine and you know the pictures in there the cool people were
wearing the sunglasses and I'm not saying that I'm cool I'm just letting you know I want to be cool we're trying
to be trying to do yeah and then did you meet billy jensen from he was used to be
with I believe Crimewatch Daly so I did meet I did meet him at all I'm a guy at crime con he's very nice and he's very
funny too yes correct he was cracking me up but I was I mean I knew I knew he I was
unaware of his work is what I should say but yeah he was very nice and extremely
funny he's got a great personality yeah he he's on my favorite murders podcast networks so it's cool to like
because their book just came out and I was cool to hear how people responded to their both him and what the book was
about and and all that stuff so it's why not uh I want I want to do some kind of
something with you were mentioning this earlier I would like to do something with John from brain scratch and he said
he you know he he's way into a - I don't know how we would do that because he's a
he's a that's a TV guy a YouTube guy and we're upon we're podcast guys but he you
know he was on that list of people that I had to see and had to say hello to and
that I tasked myself with and I walked up to him on very early Friday morning before podcast where I even started and
I once I got right front of me cognized me immediately in a sugar pan and I had big smile on my face my phone
did John and said I'm a big fan of both of your shows and more importantly I'm a
big fan of your research and how you present everything and he looked right at me and he said that's incredible
because I'm a big fan of your research as well and I told him I said you know on occasion I you know if I'm looking
into something I'll check to see if there's a brain scratch on it because you know it's always a good it can be a
good starting point and he said you know there's been several cases that I've covered that I've gone to you guys for
for not just look it's less about collecting information and it's more about seeing something or hearing
something by people that you respect their work and it's almost a starting point and so it was neat neat to hear
that he and I have done the same thing using you know a brain scratch in him doing a true Graham garage yeah overall
it's just uh I really think it was the best crime Kong yeah out of all three of them so FAR's had so much fun and to see
like I said to see all the people from crank on one hand come to and and it's so cool too because I had to remind some
of the people there that are just attending the same hey all the shows were here to hang out with you we're
here dress hawk with you ran and and that's so cool when they come up and tell you what the favorite episode is or
you should cover this or you know they would tell you some joke you know it and it's so strange too because I get a lot
of people just coming up looking at me and whispering use a piece of [ __ ] and everybody around is like Jesus that that
guy's really think like I being routed to this guy frown but I yeah he has a lot of funding and yeah I
think they're from from this crime crime will probably be a lot of crossovers something with generation wise more
stuff with crawlspace Frank brains cracks a true crime all the time there's a lot of people who talked about going
hey let's do something in the next year so I think I'll be excited and like you you you coin the phrase true crime
Avengers and everybody that I told that to uh what super excited but I think James Renner said he wanted to be the
double halt and I said would have to take a vote on that because I would I would assume that
bill that uh bill bill Bob Roth would be the incredible Hawks what I have incredible Hawkeye V Bob wraps but
remember incredible Hawk comes from Bruce Banner where you could have you could have
James Renner be Bruce Banner and then you have when he morphs into the hawk he's he's Barbara yeah that would make
it unthinkable herself all right well how about yeah Angela say your vacation this this my kinda
starting to fill up with people and they're all talking so we'll press it in this because the the you're here
