Welcome to the new studio. Come on in. >> All right, you guys. This is what do we
call it? >> I think the hallway. >> The hallway. It feels like a tunnel because it's so quiet.
>> Yes. And it is there is a whole like science behind it. >> Psychological like
>> getting yourself ready, preparing to go in. I don't have a lot of time for preparing or getting ready. I'm doing
thing to thing to thing. >> We're running down this hallway. >> However, what I appreciate is everything
out here you cannot hear in here. This is the buffer zone. >> It's so quiet. >> Beautiful.
>> Buffer zone to this zone. So, come see what's in here. This is the new studio.
>> So, this studio was I want to say months, but years in the making. >> Uh, and up until the 11th hour.
>> Like 11th hour, we were about to record our first episode in here. >> Yeah. So, we we did work with like a
team to like build this and get the sign and it looked completely different up until just like a little
>> literally different chairs. The night before we changed the chairs that we're
sitting in. >> Yeah. The everything on the shelves was kind of different. Um we did like a test
recording and it just it did it didn't feel like my home. >> Beautiful, >> but it didn't feel like us. It didn't
feel like it fit us and our vibe and our friendship >> or where we'd be hanging out talking.
>> Yeah. where you would be with us. >> So, I made a literal like after work at like 7:00 p.m. I grabbed my daughter and
I don't know if I can say the name. I went to TJ Maxx HomeGoods and I loaded up on stuff. So, and these chairs used
to be in um some offices upstairs. >> Yes. Our like one of our reporters and one of our like head of production, our
supervising producer um had these at their office and I was like, I think these are it you guys. So I I moved the
chairs out. I brought in chairs. I went to HomeGoods and which is like the most I like went through my phone to find old
pictures of us and like printed them out for some of the f like you bought frames
but we didn't have photos for them. So we had to like fill the frames before we filmed the episode.
>> So we've got me and Brett. A lot of them were like us throughout life. >> Um to everyone who says we make up our
friendship. Love you. >> That's at my parents house. And this one's at my parents house too.
>> Yeah, that's in the hoft. Um, I made out with a boy there once. So, >> I mean, same.
>> Different boy. >> And then we've got another one up there from when we went to the chicks concert.
>> So good. >> We have our Maryanne and Wanda shirts. >> There's also uh >> I was say behind you the YouTube
>> Oh, the YouTube award that was for 100,000 subscribers and we're like >> way past that now. Yeah.
>> We have our Gracie Award. Some of our awards are in here. I think our iHeart award is
>> the signal up here. I heart was in here. The Gracy's down here. >> Yeah, this feels like home. Some of my
books. >> Yeah, your books. >> Peep them. I took the jackets off. >> And of course, place of honor.
>> I know. Chuckles. >> Chuck himself. >> He had to come with us to the new studio.
Oh yeah, this is always water. People think they're either empty or like I wouldn't hold a cup for show. I My mouth
gets so exceptionally dry. So a lot of water. >> Yeah, usually my water is like backup
for her water. I don't need it as much. Pour >> it into during during recordings. I'll
go Okay. >> And that also happens usually really freaking now that we're not on the
couch. It's not in my lap anymore. Yeah. So, we used to spill more. >> I like to say Brit doesn't like when I
say this, but we're kissing 40. >> It's just rude. >> And being criss-cross applesauce for
sometimes 2 or 3 hours, >> painful, >> is a lot. Um, we talk a lot about when we filmed the Jean Ramsey episode, which
was like a my legs went numb, >> a 5 hour recording. We like were sore the next day. I had to drive like 2
hours afterwards. So, like I like I was in rough shape after that. It's not as bad since then, but like having chairs
versus couches has changed. >> We said that if we're still doing this 10 years from now, we're going to get
full on lazy boys >> like recliners >> and just like lean into the old lady. >> When it's time for me to speak, I'll
just like buzz up to the microphone. But no, all that to say, the chairs are so much more comfortable and feels more
like how we would actually be hanging out and talking. Like I can picture like two chairs in my house where we would
sit and talk and like that's exactly what this feels like. >> Cozy. >> Okay. Okay. So, the old which which old
old days? Because there's old days in our guest bedrooms at our houses >> where I just have I have a ton of
outtakes of Chuck going >> Yeah. walking on I was recording in a room with a tile floor.
Um >> that's uh perfect for sounding >> then. And you used to go to the library.
>> I used to record at a library cuz they had a recording studio that I would take
all of my gear in. And you recorded at the library when I moved to the our first office, which truly was like this
old house and >> the studio was on the >> second floor. >> Second floor of like a vaulted house. So
the first floor was actually like above ground as well. There was like parking underneath there.
>> The walls are basically paper and you all the vents were connected. So literally we would tell people like you
cannot go to the bathroom. I can hear you pee through the vents. >> Like it wasn't it wasn't just like the
flushes or the doors. It was like it was actually like people using the bathroom
that you could hear. Um and then when we moved here um with the whisper rooms it was fine
>> and then video happened. >> And then video happened and we moved to our studio and
>> but like on a whim. I just decided I was like hey we should do the Johny Ramsay
on video. Let's go to the loft upstairs. >> Yes. And we used one of the spaces that
we used for content. We filmed a lot of content there back in the day and so we filmed it in that room and we filmed it
after hours. We filmed it after the office closed. It was like we started the recording at 5:00 p.m.
>> And we record or 400 p.m. or something >> cuz it wasn't like it wasn't set up for
sound. >> It was so we had to like get it to where we recorded when the office was the
quietest >> as everyone was leaving. >> And then you once you start something apparently you can't stop.
>> Well, people liked it. >> So we have more video. So, we moved to the basement of this building that used
to be like a gym >> cuz this no one used >> cuz our building also used to have apartments in it.
>> Yeah. >> Said loft where we filmed Jean Banet. >> Um, and so it was the apartment like
complex, if you can call it that. It was like seven apartments or something. It was their gym and we converted it into
our studio. It's like >> shaped like a triangle. The room doesn't make any sense. There are like two full
bathrooms down there that became our like dressing room. >> I actually miss those.
>> I do miss those. But like one side of the wall was like parking garage and the
other side of the wall was the street >> street. You could hear everything. >> And fun fact, like
>> we're close to like some emergency services buildings and we would hear a lot of sirens
and we would hear people on the street and it was like we're like like there's like a stop sign nearby. So people like
would rev their engines and like all of that would get picked up >> for the last like two years. I feel like
the flow's just gotten interrupted. So I feel like the storytelling can only get
better from here. >> Yeah, cuz we can't hear >> anything. We can't hear anything any of
that here. Um we also would occasionally hear footsteps from the office at our old studio in the basement studio. So we
had like no go zones during recordings that you couldn't walk in hallways. Um, sometimes
>> we've come a long way. All that to say, >> but now everyone can walk everywhere and
everyone can use the bathroom while we record except for us. >> Directly above us is a lot of our
producers >> and we wanted to make sure that they could move around while we're recording.
So, one of the test recordings we just had them like party. They were jumping up and down. They were on their walking
pads. They were like marching. And we could hear it, but so little of it. >> You just saw the light shake a little.
>> Yeah. Like we could see the light shake from like the rigs, but like it wasn't
getting picked up on the mics, which was huge. >> So, yeah, this is a major major
improvement. like can't believe we're here. >> Me either. This is our video booth. So, anytime
something's not on video, ads, for example, this is where Brit and I record. So, when you hear me talking
about Quint or Maggie, my pup or my eating habits or sleeping habits, >> that happens in here. There's also a
control room on the other side of this. There's a window here where they can help direct us in the video booth, but
also that's where all of the producers and the sound editors sit during our episodes. And that is incredible.
>> They won't say this, but I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed in there. >> I I do things to electronics. I have my
whole life. We won't go into that right now. >> Freaky, >> but I I should not be left alone with
electronics. Not if we want to keep them working. >> Listen, I'm glad you guys came, but
you're going to have to go. We have to record. See you.
