I remember waking up in the middle of the night sweating you see when I was a kid I was afraid of the dark
I started getting into podcast with a lot of America on the podcast serial it wasn't just the dark but what I believed
waited beyond what I could see I was hooked it was fascinating to me I wonder what it would look like for me to take
all the skills that I have that I've learned in my career and apply them towards making a podcast about my
grandmother's murder this is knock-knock the unsolved murders of Betty Jones and Catherine Creek ler
the first person that I told was my brother and I didn't ask him I told him I said hey Simon I'm thinking about
doing this podcast about mama Betty's murderer I'd love for you to be involved and he was extremely skeptical I asked
mom and dad I said listen I'm thinking about doing a podcast but I don't want to do anything if it's going to be too
painful for you guys I was shocked at how supportive my mom and dad were but I think that they also were hopeful that
it might bring some resolution for them many people have asked why I'm making this podcast and if you want to know the
truth I'm making this podcast because what happened to Betty and Katherine is not OK and it cannot be dismissed or
forgotten my name is Chucky holt and I am the granddaughter of Katherine crackler when he contacted me a year ago
about this podcast it's totally 100% absolutely I said it just opened up this wonderful wonderful
hope in the dream that possibly somebody knows something right before this horrific person came
in the room before all that happened she had heard Betty screaming her name Catherine Catherine Catherine so when I
was thinking about how do I tell Betty and Catherine's story I just wanted to tell it in a way that was compelling
enough to make other people care as deeply as I care about their stories but to do this I mean you had to go to
Starkville for the first time since you were 10 years old yeah pulling up right now I
remember the most emotional moment feeling that door handle walking on those old wooden floors everything
became real to me be here I feel like I understand how scary that would have been I wouldn't even a million years
thought that podcasting would be the way that I would begin to find closure about
my grandmother's death
