The same man stood before two different judges just a few years apart, and their views of him could not have been more different.
In 2006, Roger Hueber pleaded guilty to attempted rape and child endangerment charges involving teenage girls. Before imposing the maximum available sentence, the judge described him as a threat, a predator, and someone she believed preyed on young girls.
After serving his prison sentence, Roger later returned to court for violating his sex offender registration requirements after moving without properly notifying authorities. This time, a different judge described him as "a good father" and chose not to send him back to jail, saying he did not want to separate Roger from his family.
Both judges were aware of Roger Hueber's criminal history, yet they reached very different conclusions about the person standing before them.
