Okay. Hey, I just searched shots fired. 44th in Oakwall. A male black in a blue jacket. There's a little girl on D. He
had a blue like uh jacket. He was just shooting in the alley over here. 44th in Oaken Wall.
I'm not prepared. But you got to do what you got to do. The hardest things is waking up. Waking up realizing that
she's not there anymore. I can't believe that we're talking about hya in a past tense. I mean, I wish you guys
could have been here asking me about the, you know, the dancing at the inauguration, but unfortunately, um,
this is what we dealing with. As we grieve for Hadia, we need to work together to protect our greatest
resource, the children of the city of Chicago. You don't know how hard this really is.
And those of you that do know how hard this is, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm Moren Maher. When Hideia
Pendleton was shot in this park, she quickly became a symbol of deadly street violence in Chicago. But nearly every
day, someone is gunned down in this city. Often the result of gangs fighting over territory to sell drugs. I'm Armen
Kayan. In the fall of 2012, we began reaching out to some of the victims who are hurting and some of the people who
are fighting back in the city at war over guns, gangs, and drugs. Police drop the weapon.
We know from years of working the streets that much of the gang related shootings are drugrelated. What you're
going to do today matters. To get the gangs, Jack Riley and the DEA go after their drugs. Heroin in particular. Jack,
it's a little after 6:00 in the morning. What's on the agenda now here? Well, we're going to go ahead and serve a
search warrant on a house that there's been numerous undercover buys made out of uh heroin.
Flint, we're moving up to the house. All right, they're moving. Jack, we're at the door now. This is daily what we're
up against on the street. I mean, that's why I look the way I look. That's why I
don't sleep a lot. One homicide in this city is too many. One person abusing heroin in the suburbs is too
many. I first started using heroin when I was 16. And the first time I did it, I
was in my family room and I was thinking, "This is the best feeling in the world."
Heroin has taken many of Paula Nixon's friends, but she can't kick it. I'm not strong enough. If I saw heroin in front
of me right now, I can't tell you that I wouldn't do it. There is no amount of willpower that I have on my own that I
can stop. The people that you were buying it from, are these people in gangs? A lot of them. Yes.
A lot of drugs have been sold on in this intersection right here. And you're watching it from right here all day
long, all night long. Yes. I don't give a damn where they come from. We ain't got to sell them. With drug dealers at
his doorstep, David Muhammad risked his life to stop them. Every day for about a
year. I videotaped them. There's the drugs. Made the pass. Got the money. It's worth it to lose my life if I have
to to try to slow this down. For six months, we've watched David Muhammad stand up to drug dealers. Paula
Nixon battle heroin addiction and the Pendleton's search for justice. The Chicago Police Force along with the DEA
have been hunting down the drugdeing gangs. And we are there as it all unfolds. Tonight, a 48 hours
