for a while Peter met the obligations to the criminal justice system he showed up
with court proceedings kept in contact with his lawyer and followed the rules for visiting his sons who at this point
had been placed in protective custody with other family members but in January 2015
Peter Chadwick becomes a fugitive from justice we learned later that he'd taken large sums of cash books he left behind
so that Peter had researched how to change his identity and how to live off the grid he may not have had access to
his passports but we knew Peter Chadwick had the means to hide anywhere in the world we believe that Peter Chadwick has
been in Mexico since his disappearance he travelled throughout the country never taking up a steady residence when
he left yet large sums of cash at first he uses money to stay in luxury high-end
hotels and resorts eventually lost this option when the hotels began requiring passport identifying or modest
accommodations in motels and hostels Peter also worked a number of odd jobs to supplement the cash that he brought
with him while he was hiding in Mexico Peter used a variety of aliases he was also able to obtain several fake IDs the
names Peter used include Paul Cooke Paul Craig and John Franklin our investigation shows the Peter Chadwick
never intended to return from Mexico he had no intentions of coming back to Orange County to face trial or raise the
three sons that he had abandoned

After being charged for his wife's murder, Peter Chadwick went missing in January 2015. Investigators now know that he was hiding out in Mexico. After Chadwick’s capture, Newport Beach Police Chief Jon Lewis spoke about what Chadwick had been doing for all those years on the run.
