After investigators matched a partial fingerprint from Bill and Peggy Stephenson's condo to a man who knew the couple, he initially agreed to provide fresh fingerprints and DNA.

The appointment was scheduled for 10 a.m. the next morning. At 9:45, he called Detective Coy Cox and said he wasn't coming — and that investigators would need to speak with his attorney.

Detectives ultimately obtained warrants, traveled to the state where he lived, entered his home, and collected his DNA.

And the results only made this case more complicated.
