Months after Brittany Wallachank disappeared, a piece of evidence surfaced that should have answered one
of the biggest questions in this case. But instead, it created a whole new mystery. One of the biggest unanswered
questions in Brittany's disappearance was simple, who was she with that night? Because we know Brittany borrowed her
boyfriend Sheldon Ashbrook's car. We know she left his house sometime between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. And we know she
eventually showed up at her grandmother's house with a mystery man no one could identify. But what happened
in between? That's where this receipt comes in. At some point after Brittany disappeared, investigators got
photographs of a gas receipt. The receipt was from November 30th, 2018, the exact night Brittany vanished. And
it's timestamped 6:11 p.m. It's from a Marathon gas station on Fond du Lac River Road. And according to people
close to the investigation, the receipt appeared tied to Brittany. Sheldon had previously told investigators Brittany
called him that night complaining that there wasn't enough gas in the car. So this receipt could help confirm part of
her route. But the way police got the receipt is where things get weird. Because investigators didn't find the
receipt. It somehow ended up with someone Brittany knew named Ashley. Ashley Hooley. And
according to Ashley, months after Brittany disappeared, her own vehicle was stolen and later recovered.
And inside was a garbage bag full of random junk. Ashley says while sorting through the garbage bag, she found the
receipt. And here's where her explanation gets interesting because in one version of
events, Ashley says she didn't realize the receipt mattered until after it had been thrown away. But when we spoke with
her directly, Ashley gave a slightly different explanation. She said she absolutely noticed the date
and immediately felt it might be connected to Brittany. Maybe the receipt is meaningless, maybe it's just a weird
coincidence. But if Brittany really stopped for gas at 6:11 that night, how would someone else have ended up with
her receipt?
