She wasn't even reported missing yet. When police identified the remains of Stephanie Casberg, they didn't do it
through a DNA match or notice that she matched the description of a missing person. Instead, it was through the help
of a news broadcast. Someone in the family heard the description of the remains on the radio, and Stephanie's
father, Charles Casberg, called the police. He gave them one detail, a small mole on the right side of her face that
had not been mentioned publicly. And that's how they confirmed it. Stephanie Casberg was just 17 years old, and her
18th birthday would have been the very next day. She had just started working and was trying to become independent and
had so much ahead of her. But over 50 years later, this case is still unsolved. But recently, a new potential
suspect surfaced, one connected to similar cases across other states. So, investigators are still working, still
pushing, still hoping for justice in Stephanie's case. And so are we.

When 17-year-old Stephanie Casberg’s remains were discovered in 1969, she hadn’t even been reported missing yet.

Police didn’t identify her through DNA or a missing persons report. Instead, a family member heard details about the remains on a radio broadcast. Stephanie’s father then contacted police and provided a detail that had not been released publicly—a small mole on the right side of her face.

That detail helped confirm her identity.

Stephanie was just one day away from her 18th birthday. More than 50 years later, her case remains unsolved, though investigators are continuing to pursue new leads.
