criminals these are stories of the nonviolent lucky punks and Robin hoods that Dodge the law I could have gone to
prison not jail prison because here's the situation baby it's only a matter of time before the statute of limitations
is up and technically you might walk away Scot free but don't take her from me guys I'm obviously no lawyer this is
statute of limitations what's up everybody I'm Mike The Situation Santino welcome to the
show where run-of-the-mill people get to tell all about crimes they committed back in the day and on this episode we
see one man make an elaborate plan to just walk right out of a warehouse with a precious p pie of history and an
animal lover who has seen enough and races to save an innocent animal's life by stuffing it in a u hole now it's time
for a story of a man who moved from Italy to Chicago in search of a better life which sounds like a good idea but
then he also goes and steals a famous R Stars guitar which sounds like a bad idea but
instead of getting into a gym Jam he played the whole thing perfectly now he's here to tell the tale let's call
him Frank my name is you can call me Frank and I committed the perfect crime and I got away with
it statutes of limitations has passed 5 years ago for me this story is so freaking
crazy so early 2000 I left Italy because I was financially struggling and uh I needed to take action I need to do
something so I decided for Chicago because my cousin was already there so at least I had one roof on my head
immediately after a few years ended up working for a AC Plumbing Company and one day me and my colleagues have been
recruited to go to a special Warehouse because they were having problem and remodeling the old place Place why is it
special because it was an auction Warehouse it was full of artifact uh pricess pieces original documents posan
it was insane the amount of uh expensive things that wasn't there and uh day by day I started to become friend with a
guard supervisor and you know the guy like to chat and start to brag about the place brag about the old pieces he can
out with this secret with this incredible piece that they have in there and uh I said uh so what's that and he
said follow me so I follow the guy all of the sudden I found myself in front of a
box he opened the box and inside there is the original guitar of a passed away super mega star of ragby Music one of my
Idols I used to play when I was a kid and my dream was to be a rock star and all of the sudden I felt electricity
through out my body holding the guitar was one of the most beautiful feeling I ever felt in my life it was great only
thinking about that that guy made the history of music with that guitar and now it was into my hands it was like
connecting with eternity connecting myself with him it was crazy so all the shift I've been
thinking to that guitar I I come back home and still I couldn't even sleep I was thinking about it uh even because
they were saying that the auction would have started maybe uh $300 $400,000 so it was crazy crazy money he
became an obsession and the only idea to possess the same object that he made the
eory of music with it I couldn't help it I wanted the guitar so when I started to study a plan
to to steal the guitar I at the beginning I was very scared because from outside I saw a lot of guards barbed
wire on top of the fences and a lot of a uh control getting in basically impossible but at the same time a
thought popped out in my mind they were remodeling the whole thing so even the camera system at night time was off
because they were having problem with a part of the warehouse the other thing that I noticed is that the place was a
total mess we weren't the only there and we were already 12 people uh nobody was
supervising us nobody was supervising the other electric company working on their stuff that confusion convinced me
to take my chances so I said well Frank nobody's looking at you nobody will notice at some point you have a walk go
to check out the place so that's what I did I started to figure out where the aisles were where I could get hidden it
was a Friday I worked as normal and at the end of the shift as I planned I thought nobody would notice if uh 11 of
us will leave in one state toward the end of the shift I hidden myself behind the boxes and I went there probably for
five or 6 hours something like that and I was going crazy I was wetting my ass off we were working on the AC and AC was
not working yet and my legs were hurting all my body soared and uh it was it was very very
tough at some points I hear the C cleaning company uh saying goodbye to each other the employees leaving and
then all the electricity going down and being shutting off and I found myself in the darkness
in the silence I took a deep bread I decided to leave my Cove and I went straight to
that part of the warehouse where the box was and when I was walking in the middle
of the darkness with the only help of the flashlight that I brought with me I only remember that it was two aisles to
my left from where I was and look in the middle of the aisle on my left at the second shelf I thought that I was
exactly in the right place but I open ined the first box nothing the second box was completely different
stuff third box was empty I start to go in panic because I knew that I didn't have the time of the
word and I was trying to talk myself out to leave the place at the same time the
other part of me was convincing me to stay but was paralyzed if a dude from Italy loves
rean music does that make him a pastafarian I know guys listen I'm Italian and I can make that joke anyway
I couldn't help it just like our man Frank can't help stealing a famous guitar and even though he said Italians
don't talk when it comes to these details on how he got away with it he's going to sing like a canary
next welcome back guys the statute of limitations where a guy calling himself Frank is waiting to steal a famous ree
Stars guitar in auction Warehouse luckily the whole thing ends on a high note here's
how but I open the first box nothing the second box was completely different stuff third box was empty I start to go
in panic because I knew that I didn't have all the time of the word but at the same time I kept going to look for and
then finally I realized that I was looking in the wrong direction I moved some feet on my right and then I found
the box that the guard supervisor showed me someday before I opened it and the guitar was
there my heart was exploding I took a deep breath and then I grabbed the guitar very slowly I start to walk toward the
exit to the parking lot that case in my hand was like gold and was like killing me at the same
time and I was already feeling so G and uh that walk looked infinite I was walking and walking and walking faster
and faster and faster and I had like the feeling The Sensation that that door was
always too far away probably my mind that walked last hours and the moment I open the door with that case in my right
hand I felt all the feelings of the world last thing you know it was me driving to W home in this very bad
neighborhood of Chicago when I got home instinctively I said okay now I can finally Play This chords and uh try to
feel like that Mega star but I felt so weird I felt so so off and believe it or not I put the guitar in front of me on
the couch and I've been staring that guitar probably all night long for hours without not even touch it it was a mix
of emotions uh I never played the guitar I never played it I wanted to scream to the word uh
what I did at the same time I couldn't I didn't tell to anybody uh not even on my
family not even my my best friends I couldn't feel safe the only one who knew about that it was me it's only been in
my place for all the time in it to be there I know you guys are dying to know who I sold the guitar to but
I can't tell you that I cannot you know I come from Italy and uh in my country we know how to do one thing very well
keep your mouth shut then little by little I start to cope with the fact that I needed to come
back to a normal life even because uh there was the risk to look even too much suspicious so I decided to go back to
work I was looking around me like a mall but at the same time I was try to to look calm and and quiet of course and I
had almost the the willing to steal something else but um maybe the the last reasoning part of my brain told me okay
Frank that's it stop it you got the guitar and that's it and after some time when the when the moment was right I
resigned I left now if you ask me if I would like to do that again no not even gross not
even if you pay me the same amount of money I would do that again it was completely stupid it was it was totally
crazy I could been still in jail today and uh that was something that I would regret for the rest of my life but
fortunately I got the way with it that's my [Music] story are we on guys hey yo man don't
worry bro like he said this is it's America guys home of the free including my Pisano Frank so we're in the clear
you want to talk about a main event this is the tale of one man's mission to actually steal a race horse
in Upstate New York that's the kind of thing that could have sent him up Upstate now he's here to bust out his
story here's buster hi my name is Buster and I stole a horse so me and my buddies hadn't gone
together all of us College friends for 30 years we're all over the country you know we grew up in the same town but
it's now our chance to get together and by one budd's kids going you know to college you know Upstate New York he's
got his first apartment off campus so he's got to load furniture and and bring it to his new apartment so he he figured
hey we'll just meet there there's a track near his college we'll just you know have a good time gamble drink and
after he drops his kid off at College we'll just hang out there for the weekend drink and you know go to the
races and stuff I get out from La acting like a big shot being in the business and
everything I want to prove I'm going to throw some money around and gamble big and I've actually gambled on horses
before usually with moderate success which is better than most people so you know he comes up to the school and drops
his kid off and he's got his U-Haul and I you know get my rent CR we all meet up
at the hotel which is about about 2 miles from the [Music] [Applause] track so we get to the track and we're
bedding and I'm kind of helping my buddies out and stuff and we're doing okay it's just a blast we're getting
together and we're drinking and I'm getting a little sloppy with my beding big and you know I just wanted to focus
on the last few races I had you know most of my money tied up in the last race so I kind of wanted to see that
without the distraction and stuff I walk down kind of the Ender my day right next
to kind of where they cross the finish line so I kind of work my way down right to
the railing I'm kind of leaning as close as you can get to the track I was there
right across through the Finish Line just where they pass and I wanted to be there just the excitement down there is
fantastic so I'm leaning and I'm watching the horses come in and I've got bets spread all across and I'm really
excited and you know I did well I you know I placed one of my horses at the end of a race they're trying to bring
all the horses in they got to walk them and cool them down because they're all worked up and stuff they don't want to
they got to get their heart rate down as I'm there there one of the horses was struggling at the end and I'm kind of
watching the horse because it you know had a distinctive kind of looking horse different color man and everything and
I'm watching this trainer and he's yanking the horse around he's got you know one of the
little riding crap whips and just beating on it and just you know I'd never seen that just all of a sudden you
get your blood starts to go like here's an innocent animal and just drinking so you're you know getting really riled up
and you know my I'm like hey hey and the guy looks at me like whatever and I'm like come on don't do that to it's an
animal and the guy's like you know flipping me off I'm like I don't know if I want to beat up the guy or I can't
beat him up I mean run out of track or anything I'm like what you know I can I do anything I'm like shouting at it come
on just leave the horse alone he just Yanks it Yanks it until they're getting off the track and I just I was just
furious I just didn't know what to do I had no idea how but I was going to save that horse whoa easy there fella
horse's way like 1,000 lb and they kick I got a cousin Tina like that and you couldn't pay me to mess
with her so how exactly do you steal a racehorse and get away with it my mind is blown right now guys we're
headed into the backstretch for the answer on statute of limitations next welcome back to statute of
limitations our boy Buster is ready to save the day after seeing a racehorse take a beating by a trainer so he's
whipped up a plan to actually steal the horse and bring it to greener pastures check this
out there's people just kind of cleaning up at this time and there's a woman directing people you know she's kind of
the manager with the staff and she obviously come some position there I didn't I don't know what it was but she
was kind of a manager of stuff and I'm hey where they take the horses where are they and she's like well we don't keep
the horses here they keep them you know a couple miles away be like I want to buy that horse there nobody should treat
a horse that poorly I was able to look it up on the internet and see where it was and it was actually really close to
our hotel where you're staying and it kind of all right G gave me you know an idea of you know I could do something
and basically I wanted to steal the horse but you know we went from there we back to the hotel right after that my
buddies are G they're giving me a hard time they're calling me The Horse Whisperer because I'm so passionate
about the horse and they're like oh horse whisper we got the horse whisper over here then it just becomes whisper
so they call me whisper and that's getting my blood up and you know this is it we've always did all those crazy
stuff we used to do come on we did stuff in college we did stuff let's do something like something memorable you
know here we are together and and the other guys are just into playing cards they're you know we're older now they're
too lazy to get out they're just happy to have sports on in the background drink and play cards but I'm like I'm
going to get you know I'm going to rescue that horse I'm going to steal it I'm going to do something I got to do
something and that's where I kind of started hatching the plan I just started thinking to myself I could put the horse
in the uth hul I could definitely get over there it's super close to Hotel I just got to get the keys for my buddy
who's hammered so I shouldn't have that hard time and get my other friend to help me so we get the keys you know
we're able to get down to where this Barn is so I kind of pull up it's you know a dirt road and I can see dust so
I'm kind of looking through and I don't want to get too close I'm not sure how close you can pull U-Haul to a barn and
I can tell you know nobody's really paying attention there's a lot there's activity but not crazy
but we park and I get out and walk and you see guys kind of walking horses around like this this ring that they
kind of keep near these I guess the barns or whatever Stables I'm kind of wandering through the barn and kind of
looking and I just think you act like you know what you're doing they'll just kind of leave you alone so I'm kind of
looking for horses and some are really getting riled up just me walking through and I spot the horse that has that M
that I recognize and I'm kind of looking around and nobody's paying attention to
me and you're nervous hey the animals are gigantic and I've never actually let a horse or done anything like that I'm
you dying for that but you know beer bravery I'm able to get in there think it's going to stomp on me I'm able to
lead the horse out it's looking kind of what the other guys are doing just start
walking kind of confidently and I just keep on walking until I'm at the U-Haul I don't now the problem is I got to get
the horse in the U-Haul I don't know how I'm going to do it it's kind of a problem my buddy's just drunk and
laughing at me he doesn't even want to help he's just lying on the ground laugh me trying to jump jump and horse no idea
I mean they're huge and he goes in the U-Haul and for some reason the horse fils in him
because he has food in his hand and just goes to him so we get it in the U-Haul close it and I just Loosely tied it so I
don't want to go that fast because I'm thinking I'm going to kill the horse that I'm actually trying to save so I'm
going really slow slow I'm on this country road it doesn't have brights I'm thinking I'm going to crash every 5
seconds I'm drunk and my budd's just laugh laughing the whole time you know and we see this sign that says Friendly
Farms and it's like a sign you know you know oh my gosh this is where we belong we're driving for a while let's just
drop the horse off here at Friendly Farms this is where the horse is you can see it kind of a barn or in the
background but you know there's a big fence that keeps the horses in you don't want to get too close you know we just
want to I just want to get the horse out and my bu's also getting a little nervous I can sense like we've been gone
a little bit so we just pull up to where You' you know pull in the gate and we get the horse out amazingly it got out
easy much easier than getting it in and we lead it up to the gate and horse just
kind of trots off without me doing anything I closed the gate and I you hope for the look back from the horse
you know that moment didn't really happen but I I felt amazing it was my moment you know my rescue moment and we
hop back in to our U-Haul drive back of course we get back to our car game they didn't even know we were gone because
we're still drunk and playing cards and we just started playing and I'm feeling amazed I could care less if I lost all
my money it just was this great magical moment hanging out with your buddies you
know a great story it was a perfect guys weekend that's the way it was supposed to
be so we begin to wonder like what did happened when they got up in the morning at Friendly Farms and they had an extra
horse did they not notice or nobody seemed to inquire like hey there was a horse stolen they just seemed to get
away with it you know we're just pretty happy with Friendly Farms right now 4 years later my daughter's going to
school and Upstate New York and I kind of convinced my wife like hey I just want to drive by Friendly Farms and in
my Disney moment we drive up and I'm kind of hanging out and there's that horse with a distinctive main you know I
knew that was a horse and four years later that horse is still there so now that the statue of limitations has run
its course I got away with stealing a horse and that's the story of the great Whisperer I was would definitely never
steal a horse again got two greyhounds now but I'm going to have to wait a couple years before I tell you that
story and that is how you steal a horse and get away with it not that we condone
