I'm thinking I'm working with somebody that potentially did this to Mandy and I got a no I said I'll get you a water
bottle and so one morning he came in and he filled up the thing and he drank it and they turned around and he threw it
away and he walked past me in the doorway and went into the men's bathroom and I just
stood there and went it's game time and I grabbed the cup out toss it in my thing and then another cup got placed in
the garbage so he wouldn't come back and go you know where's my cup you replaced
the cup yet another cup government there and well and everything all the time well somebody had to be thinking
Thursday they had like a safety meeting so they had a spread of food on the counter he was drinking a coke so I
looked in the garbage and there was quite a bit of garbage in there I hadn't been able to empty it and and I didn't
do that every day I mean I wasn't like a full-on creeper but you know um so I go
you're drinking a coke today and I wanted to remember that okay a coke and I was like okay this just happened to me
again like two days I'm like this jackpot and so this time my heart was like oh I was I was dying because there
was a lot of people around so I thought well it's now or never cuz got it could take me another three
months so I grabbed it and then I was like I threw it in my desk drawer

When Kim Wagner realized her employee, Tim Bass, was a suspect in the 1989 murder of Mandy Stavik, she felt she had to act. Wagner tells "48 Hours" Peter Van Sant that she knew police needed Bass' DNA, so she watched him for months to see if he would throw anything away in the garbage can with saliva on it.
