Mary Yoder was poisoned, and no one was investigating. After toxicology confirmed that Mary
died from a massive colchicine overdose, a drug that by the way she was not even
prescribed, her family, specifically her sisters, assumed that police were on it.
So, they waited for updates, or for interviews, or for someone to ask some questions, but nothing came.
So, in mid-October, Mary's sister Sharon picked up the phone and called the Oneida County Sheriff's Office herself.
She basically said like, "Hey, my sister died from a medication that she wasn't taking. What's happening with the case?"
And the response was, "What case?" There was no open investigation. The medical examiner had
ruled her death a poisoning, but law enforcement had never been notified. Somewhere along the way, the findings
just weren't passed on. And Mary's husband hadn't alerted authorities, either. So, it took her sister pushing
for answers for police to finally open a case. How does a confirmed poisoning sit for
weeks without a criminal investigation?
