What is IHOP? | Forensic Files

IHOP which is short for the International House of Prayer in Kansas city is by most people's standards it'd
be called a mega church um has 5,000 people at least but much more uniquely it has a webstream that hundreds of
thousands of people watch and a conference an annual conference that at least 20,000 people show up to each year
we started becoming really interested in IHOP's teachings after Tyler went to one
of their conferences in December 2007 it's one of the largest and most influential um charismatic churches in
the country but something that makes IOP really different is that they have a 247 place of prayer and worship IHOP
believes that Jesus is returning in this generation um like within the next 50 years potentially and that
we have that Christians have a major role to play in bringing him back by praying
in his return that he will come back in response to their prayers they think the
Earth will be filled with houses of prayer like like theirs not like exactly like theirs but you know like whatever
it'll look different in lots of different cultural contexts but that that places of Perpetual Adoration of
God will happen and that in a in a sense that love of God and crying out to God um ultimately is something that God
responds to there's a very um personal idea of relationship between God and people we were all really fascinated
with the idea of getting to be in the last generation and with IHOP's teaching that there is a special group of people
um that are going to prepare the rest of the world for his return we felt like we
were were all called to be part of that chosen group we felt special
