to the wrong suspect. But the email address may have led them to the right one. So when detectives traced the Gmail
account used to order the colchicine, it didn't lead to Adam. It led to Kaitlyn Conley, who is Adam's ex-girlfriend and
the office manager at Mary Ann Bills Chiropractic Office. The colchicine was ordered months before Mary died from the
office computer during business hours. The email account used to complete the purchase was accessed from Katie's home
Wi-Fi and it was later deleted from her phone. On that phone, investigators found
deleted notes referencing the password to the email address. And on her iCloud storage, scanned copies of the documents
used to buy the poison. And last but not least, on the bottle itself was her DNA.
Prosecutors said that Katie poisoned Mary to hurt Adam or to maybe win him back and she was convicted of
manslaughter. But here's the twist. In 2025, her conviction was overturned. Now the evidence is sealed even though
the case is technically unsolved. And Mary Ann Otterness's family is still divided over who killed her.
