[Music] stoutsburg Pennsylvania we commit his body to the ground Earth to Earth the funeral of
James Kisha kisha's grandson 21-year-old Don Decker has been granted a fur from the county jail to attend the funeral we
would like to invite you to come forward and pay your last respects Don is serving a 4 to 12mon sentence for
receiving stolen property but no one at the funeral knows that he has a dark secret his grandfather the man he now
pretends to mourn physically abused them from the time he was just 7 years old no
other part of the family knew anything about what happened it was like uh you know like good fighting evil I I
basically I put it you know um the evil was gone and uh I was hoping you know that everything would change
well things did change but not in a way that Don Decker could ever have imagined
after the funeral he decided to spend the night with his friends Bob and Janine kefir and that's when The
Unexplained began to happen it was at the keir's home that all those uneasy feelings stirred up at
the funeral came back to haunt Don suddenly he felt a deep chill at almost the the same time water began to drip
from the living room walls Don fell into a strange trans-like State Genie come take a look at
this we've got a leap they decided to notify the landlord Ron Van white r getting the rug all wet get some pots or
a bucket or something I'm going to call Ron the phone rang and I got a call from
my tenant Bob and he said you have to come down we have a problem he says just come down he says but he says you have
to come down right away hey Bob what's up thanks we got a leak ge when Ron arrived he was just as
puzzled by the problems as the kefir and look it's on the walls too sure is we decided that maybe it was some Plumbing
but there were no pipes in the front end of the house to leak there was basically
nothing there that the water could have come from it could be some condensation or
after watching it for a while I discovered that it wasn't only coming from the ceiling down it could come from
the wall over or from the floor up there was no you know no basic direction that
it was coming from you know it could come from anywhere Ron telephoned his wife and the
police officer bojan didn't know what to make of the strange scene so he brought
in his partner patrolman Richard Walbert on this man I'm not sure I'm seeing what
I'm seeing if you don't tell me what's going on I'm not going to go in there John at this point he was telling me I
just want you to walk into the house and I said I'm not walking into the house unless you explain to me what I'm
walking into he says trust me trust me just walk into the house I walked in the door and he came right in behind me and
I couldn't have got two steps inside the front door and I was absolutely pelted now you see what I'm talking
about what is this water yeah it's coming from everywhere you have a broken pipe there are no pipes we were standing
just inside the front door and then there's Dro a little water traveling horizontally and then it just passed
right between us and just traveled out into the next room that happens all the time unbelievable and this is only
happening in this room the rest of the house is dry come look in the dining room it's not happening there I
literally had a chill going up my spine it made me like make the hair stand up on your neck that's how uh that's how I
felt this was a situation where things were happening that I never ever dreamed could possibly happen and there was no
way of explaining what was going on we're going to get you outside and we're going to take it from there at this
point the officers left to report the incident to the police chief the Keers and Don walked across the street for
something to eat Ron and his wife remained at the house they left and everything else left too the
rain stopped the house was normal Ron look it's stopping we were kind of thinking that
maybe it was coming from them and we weren't sure at that time which one but uh we we kind of figured you know
because when they left it left you know so we we were sure it was had something to do with one of them it had now been
23 hours since the mysterious rain began Pam scrafano owned the restaurant across
from the keir's house she had visited them earlier that day and seen the rain firsts hand worse than this morning yes
worse Pam was convinced that Don Decker was possessed by an evil spirit no no no
no you should probably call the church have the priest come over and take a look at you look know Donnie and he was
like in a trend you know he he would look at you but not knowing that you were there I said to genius said you
know he's got to be possessed oh my God oh my God oh my God we sitting there a couple seconds later there's water all
over the pizzeria too do you have do you have a crucifix hey do you have a crucifix I've never anything like that
happened in my life so I went in the cash register I had a crucifix there I took it out put it on him and the minute
you know I put it on him touched the skin and he got burned it burned just cross burned him and it turned black
this boy is possessed you have to call you have to call the church you have to have the pr there's no way that anybody
could have played you know a joke like that this was real Donnie was doing it himself
and he was doing it without realizing it that he was doing it take him to the church and have the Poli look at him
that's what you should do even Don Decker began to believe that he was somehow responsible the rain in the
restaurant was the last STW that made me more sure that I always had something to
do with it cuz it was following me and it didn't start raining in the house until I got there they were living there
nothing ever happened and that's when I started realizing that that was me it's not a coin
they think it's him I don't buy it this is horrible I'm sick of being in back at
the keir's house the landlord's wife confronted Don accusing him of somehow causing all the trouble this is your
fault you made it rain in the living room you made it rain at P's place this is all your fault it's you joh and
you're the one that's doing this and you have to make a stop the pots and pans that were over the stove they started
rattling it's when I got Le hated off the floor dny it wasn't like somebody taking your
hand and pushing you it was like feeling it all over your body at one and I'm a big guy you know you know I always have
been assertive and that made made me felt like a newborn you know um uh I I'm I'm scared right now just
talking about it really I believe that there was a a I don't know if You' call it an evil spirit but whatever a demon
you know possessed his body and uh caused this well this better be good gentlemen
you wake me up in the middle of the night I'm out here a few hours after the strange incident in the kitchen officers
bojan and Walbert arrived with their Chief when the chief got to the house he was pel weather just as Rich than I was
it's getting worse I got the impression that he was put on the spot maybe a little embarrassed like we expected
something out of him that he could answer this looks like a problem with your pipes there was no way to explain
what happened and I think he was put in a position where he might have felt a little uncomfortable you got me out of
bed for this hey chief this isn't a police problem this is a plumbing problem this is a police the police
chief ordered his officers to leave the kefir house he told them not to file a report and not to even talk about the
incident well he just flat out tonight it didn't happen and he tried to convince me that nothing happened and he
wasn't going to do that I saw it and that's all there is to it next the demon gets physical and an
exorcist is called in to help prayer is byoga the mysterious rain inside the keir's home continued but the chief of
police denied that anything out of the ordinary was happening the next day three officers
ignored the orders of their police chief they went to the kefir home to continue
their investigation Lo one of those officers was Bill Davies this will just take a
second bring your hands behind your back we're standing there and I gave Mr Decker this gold cross the hold just
hold on to that the next thing is it's burning my hands Burns and there's no explanation for
it when you picked it up when you grabbed it not hot hot but it's hot and that's when I and I held on to
it hey what's going on here hey guys started rain here all of a sudden he lifted up off the ground and he flew
across the room with the force of though a busted hit him oh my God Donnie I mean look and uh
there was three marks on the side of his neck drew blood my God look at his neck
come on I have no answer for it whatsoever and I just draw a blank even to today
having a cop 40 years and I never had anything like this here never I mean there's always an explanation when
something happens if you got investigated you come up with something this is why it happened this case here
there is no explanation there's an evil Upon This House fin finally on the third night Ron
Van W asked the preacher to come to his house and try an exorcism we all must kneel and pray
every Protestant Minister and Catholic priest in Stroudsburg had turned around down who want in heaven as she started
to pray Donnie went into a convulsion you know he he started to shake uh he pulled himself up into like a ball
and uh the longer she prayed he started to relax then his whole body seemed to quiet completely down and as you're
standing there watching this you could feel the house itself seem to take on a total different feeling trespass against
us lead us not into temptation and by the time she got done praying the water was gone and that was the last that we
saw any water at the house at all the mysterious rain was gone and Don Decker appeared to return to his old
self but the change was only temporary after his Furlow Don returned to jail within a few days the mysterious
rain returned gu gu get me out of here what's the problem here look at me I'm soaking wet it's it's all wet now
get me out of here great can you get them out of here they put me in a maximum security cell and I was in there
with another inmate and uh I was thinking you know I wish should make it rain in here and all of a sudden water
just started coming out of a concrete floor and uh at that point um I thought I could do
stuff what are you doing you throwing water on the cell walls from the sink or from the toilet or something huh
I can control it according to Don he now realized that he could control the rain
sometimes I can't at well you can control you can control the rain I tell you what if you can control the rain
Make it rain in the warden's office Make It Rain and and and Dave Keen hold's office I was sitting at the desk and I
was writing a report I was all by myself in administration area nobody else was around it was approximately 8:00 in the
evening at the time I didn't feel anything my shirt was drooping down yeah come in excuse me Warden I was
just down talking to I didn't know what was going on and the officer told me to look at my shirt what a brand new shirt
and right here on about the center of my sternum about 4 in Long 2 in wide I was
just saturated with water he said he can make it I was startled I was scared so was the officer the
officer was very frightened at that particular time and I just didn't have an explanation of why it happened all of a
sudden I I received this uh frantic call from a sergeant in the jail his name is
Keen hold and he said uh can you come over we need you we need your help Reverend Blackburn nice to meet you sit
down please thank you officer we'll be fine so they brought this very Meek mild mannered young man into the room and he
was asking my help now what is it here what's going on I Can Make It Rain they put a cross
around my neck and it burned Rosary in my hand and it burned son don't you think it would be a lot simpler if you
just stopped all this nonsense right now you're making all this up aren't you all
of a sudden like that demeanor changed and the smell came into the room uh nurses and Doctors Medical people
will tell you that when you walk into a room where someone is dying with a cancer or something usually there's a
smell you can tell when you walk in the room and I smelled a smell like that multiplied five times at least evil for
booding I have powers you don't I can make it rain and at that point he he raised his hand and he rubbed his
fingers together and all of a sudden it started to rain it was like the devil's rain it was
a missed I was in the presence of evil I'm going to pray for you I don't want you
to pray for me I don't care whether you want me to or not prayer is My Prerogative and I opened up the Bible
and started read to him but the pages never got wet so help me it was a frightening thing your wickedness was
found in you through your widespread trade you were filled with violence I think it was praying more for me than it
was for him I prayed and I and it was only a brief period and the rain stopped I bind you in the name of Jesus Christ
he subsided and you could feel a peace he said thank you he got tears in his eyes and we hugged and we prayed
together it's going to be all right he was possessed there's no doubt in my mind there is no way that a human being
could do what he did in that room there's no way that he did anything but what he did was
spiritual and it wasn't of God guaranteed it was not of God well it's over and it hasn't happened again so um
basically I'm just hoping that it never will and uh I just you know go day by day and uh as for my grandfather um I
think what had happened was his doing because he abused me when I was young he got a chance to abuse me
again chip Decker no relation to Dan and Peter Jordan are the main paranormal researchers on this case I think what
makes this case very unique is that all of the Witnesses are so credible we're dealing with very good well seasoned
police officers that were obviously rather frightened and shaken by this but also had the powers of observation the
Donald ER case the rain boy case is by far the singularly Most Fascinating and important case I have ever personally
been involved in that does not mean that I believe that it necessarily is proof positive to me of demonic infestation
but is the case in my own personal experience up to this point that comes the closest to that
hypothesis it burs just leave it out no no no just in all nine eyewitnesses plus
Don himself were willing to go on record saying that they saw heard and felt phenomena apparently not of this world
and they continue to believe Don was possessed by the devil they have found no other explanation for these bizarre
events next a deputy sheriff is murdered because of the color of his skin maybe you can help bring his Killers to
Justice [Music] [Applause] in the early 1960s the American South was at a Crossroads with segregation starting to
crumble blacks and whites faced off intense often violent confrontations in Washington Parish
Louisiana the black community began to push for integration of the sheriff's department in 1964 David Creed Rogers
and O'Neal Moore became the first black law enforcement officers in Washington Parish it was just a great day knowing
my husband was the first negro Deputy he got in his car and he turned his um radio on and reported in and we just
tickle at that time feelings were running very high very high and people some people not all people was against
the blacks taking a part in any part of law enforcement or anything O'Neal Moore and Creed Rogers
were working in a white world that barely tolerated their presence nevertheless they persevered but it was
a very very dangerous situation and it all caught up with them One Summer Night in
1965 after a year on duty O'Neal and Creed were used to harassment so they weren't surprised when a pickup truck
began to tailgate them it appeared to be a dark truck black I noticed it had a white Grill and a rebel
t on the front so as we headed south it continued to followed us when the car hit the tree and they pass
still shooting and evidently the last shot got him knocked him over on me you guys all right hearing the shots a
neighbor ran to the accident scene don't worry my wife called the police they're
on the way all right the neighbors stood guard until Deputy Doyle holiday arrived
a few minutes later going to be all right when I got up there I found deuty O'Neal Moore dead
and uh deuty Creed Rogers all shot up a black truck CED he described the truck you recognize it right down to the
Last Detail you're going to be okay it's all right and I immediately put out an APB on that
truck in less than about 30 or 45 minutes uh they called me from my office and told me that they had apprehended a
truck of that description in Tyler Town Mississippi the truck fit the description to a t of what Creed had
told me with the exceptions of the side rails there were no side rails on the truck at the time of apprehension the
truck was stopped just 20 mi from the scene of the shooting the driver was arrested but was released only on a
$25,000 B the charges were later dismissed due to lack of evidence suspicion soon focused on the
Klux Clan but the local chapter immediately denied any involvement racial tensions increased but the
sheriff refused to give in to the pressure O'Neal Moore was replaced by another black Deputy it really didn't
accomplish anything because when they trying to get rid of creed and O'Neal it didn't frighten them that just give
others more more get up and go about them it it really it really give them more courage
they wern't going to get the black deputies off of the sheriff's department because it was it wasn't anytime after
that until the sheriff called me one day and told me to go and hire another one well we can't get on it for first thing
in the morning Doyle holiday continued his investigation and then 2 weeks after the shooting he became a victim of
violence after I got through talking to the sheriff I went over and sat down on the couch that's when the shot rang
out and I hollered get down and I grabbed my gun it was laying on the table and went out the door
fire and they immediately took off he might have been stepping on somebody's toes I don't know but I don't
know why they picked me out single me out because even had they backed me down which they didn't they still had the FBI
and the state police to contend with the governor of Louisiana offered a $25,000
reward still local residents refused to cooperate with the FBI or the sheriff the case was declared inactive in
1967 years ago the clan was so strong that the people would not open their mouth they would not give you a
lead on anything for fear of their house being burnt or some member of their family being hurt or something to that
effect back then they didn't want anything to do with the FBI the state police or the local
police then in 1987 three informants contacted the FBI field office in New Orleans
two by letter one by phone each claimed to know the people responsible for O'Neal Moore's murder as a result the
case was reopened one of the two letters is very specific on identifying individuals that
were within the pickup truck and the getaway route of the pickup truck involved we have looked at the three
individuals specifically mentioned in this Anonymous letter have interviewed their families or anyone that may be
associated with these three individuals even after all this time the FBI still does not have enough evidence
or information to make an arrest however they do believe that the killers belong
to the clan we feel that it was members of the Klux clan that took part in this shooting but they did it on their own
they didn't allow other individuals to have knowledge of of what they were going to do since Moore and his partner
Creed Rogers took their last ride together the South has changed Rogers refused to be frightened
away from his police career and in 1988 he retired as a full captain from the sheriff's department when people try to
kill you and you hadn't did anything to them why that never leaves your mind sometime you wanted to to still out
there still wanting to try it it's it's a it's it's a bad feeling I think that a lot of people
that was involved back then are getting on up in years like myself and they don't want to go face the allmighty with
that on their conscience and I think before the final day somebody's going to get it off of their
chest the FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of O'Neal Moore's Killers

next A Grateful family searches for the Good Samaritans who saved their lives and later the only clues in a murder
case come from the victim himself just before he dies [Music] we recently told you the story of the
Dober family of Atlanta Georgia they were headed to Mexico to celebrate the Christmas holidays with
relatives on the second day of their trip just after crossing the border the weather suddenly changed and they were
caught in a freak snowstorm slow down a little bit there buddy it's getting a little bit slick out there okay we were
trying to be extremely cautious because the road conditions were really getting pretty bad and my father had just told
me to to even be extremely careful and just moments after he had told me that I suddenly lost
[Music] control all four people in the other car were killed the six members of the do party were
still alive but seriously hurt luckily an American couple one of whom was a doctor arrived at the crash
scene minutes later they pulled the Dos from the wreckage and gave them the medical care they so badly
needed I feel like it was a miracle many times is an accident and we just drive by an accident and they could have done
that that day day but they didn't they stopped and through their stopping they saved the lives of our family and we
just want to say thank you update when the do story aired a viewer called our phone center she said that
some friends of hers told her the very same story of the car accident it was clear that Dr Nancy nef Hannan and her
husband John were the dover's guardian angels later that evening the Hannon spoke to Vance over Vance said well we
found them that was it we found them they've called and so it's like you know you
could hear a pin drop on the floor and it's like you know um we couldn't believe after 11 years we we found that
these Angels were real human beings a few weeks later 30 members of the do family gathered to meet the
hannin and talk about that fateful Christmas Eve this is the lady do there was a lady in the front seat which had
turned sideways so had to lift her up uh cuz the front seat had broken off its pedestal sort of supported that kind of
wedged myself in there supported that with my shoulder as I tried to get him get David out I remember the pain of
somebody pulling me out cuz I guess that maybe it's where I I woke up whatever because uh in my leg hurt really bad MH
I guess as a physician that was one of the most helpless feelings I've ever had I mean to have the knowledge and
everything but not the tools to do anything it was just really frustrating com to us you were like an angel from
God both of you and had you not been there at all the whole family could have possibly died and you were so
instrumental and so we just wanted to say thank you [Music] for the police random crime is very real
and can be very difficult to solve for families touched by such violence it's simply impossible to understand or
accept the hurleys Pam and David and their sons shared a normal and happy life until one weekend in June David and
his brother were about to take take a Boy Scout troop on a canoe trip David couldn't sleep the night before okay you
have a good weekend you too I love you love you too David left home at about 1:30
a.m. about an hour and a half later Pam was surprised to hear her husband calling out I need you to come down here
I've been shot what I've been shot what are you talking about and I was stunned and thoroughly shocked I just couldn't
comprehend that he had been shot that was just too unbelievable while they waited for
paramedics to arrive David told his wife about the random attack David was heading towards his
brother's house when suddenly a car appeared out of nowhere David thought that he and the
other driver would just exchange insurance information and that would be it hey man what's going on you talking
about are you all right I'm all right hey man hey [Music] man he said all he can remember is
getting the van and trying desperately to get home to get away size police and paramedics arrived at
around 3:30 a.m. and David told his story again he was calm for a person had just been shot at that particular time I
was concerned with getting information that I could put on the air for the other units that were still out on the
road okay man David was rushed by a helicopter to to a hospital in Pittsburgh 6 Mi away at 4:30 a.m. he was
wheeled into emergency surgery 2 hours later doctors emerged from the operating room and I remember we looked at the
clock and it was 6:30 a.m. and I looked at my brother and I said this is great they're done already it must have been a
lot better than we expected because we expected 4 to 5 hours from what they told us David had gunshot wounds in the
arm and shoulder and he was bleeding internally from a lacerated liver the operation had
gone well until David suddenly went into cardiac arrest I said um you've got to be
kidding and he said no I'm not kidding he's dead David Eugene Hurley husband and
father of three murdered at the age of 34 in searching for David's killer police are limited to the sketchy
information David himself provided before he [Music] died we only have the description of a
young black male driving a champagne colored Honda Prelude and it's a good possibility that
this individual is local when someone you love dies it's very painful and that never goes away and I'm sure that never
will but that pain is also turning to anger to realize that there's a person out
there continuing with his life as if nothing happen just makes me very angry if you have any information about

escapes after leading police to the remains of his own sister Philadelphia Pennsylvania police Detective Pat
Brennan receives a phone call from Julius Patterson an Exon who had served time for rape we'll find a body who's
body out of the blue Patterson confesses that he and his girlfriend paet height have killed two people p a t t e r s o
n and when did for he kill your sister Patterson says one of the victims was his own sister and he even reveals where
the body can be found he was like a man on a mission he was out to convince me and anyone else
that would listen to him that what he had to say was real and he was out to make the police act on it with this
urgency and his voice and and the detail to what he was saying to us just made me
feel that everything he he was saying was the truth and would be founded detectives rushed to the address
Patterson gave yeah hi ma'am I'm sorry to bother you we're from the police department how do you know he was
telling the truth well we have to check it out now it's probably just a crying call hopefully Patterson had told
detectives to look for a discolored patch of cement in the basement at the foot of the steps under an old carpet
they found it using sledgehammers and shovels the investigators begin to dig like me yeah
I think you get a body Julius Patterson was telling the truth up over here let me get a shot yeah we already get shot
about a scale Julius Patterson has to be the worst type of person possible for somebody to to want to kill your sister
it's just mindboggling like I said I've never seen that in my entire police career Julius Patterson
and his girlfriend pauled height were caretakers for Patterson's Sister Jesse they had all lived together in the same
house other members of the Patterson family confirmed that Jesse had mysteriously vanished 5 years
earlier testing confirmed that the bones were in fact those of 26-year-old Jesse
Patterson she had been born blind deaf and mute her brother had murdered Jesse to cash in on her social security
benefits Julius Patterson also confessed to a second murder hul Luther Gordon suffered from
Alzheimer's disease like Patterson's sister Gordon was also under the care of Patterson and his girlfriend
Paulette if you look at both of the individuals Paul Luther Gordon and Jesse Patterson both of these people um for
totally different reasons were incapable of taking care of themselves and were completely at the mercy of the people
that were entrusted with their care um because someone took advantage of that situation and that in itself is
not that unusual unfortunately but the fact that they actually went on to kill them uh for no other reason than to to
increase their own wealth um yes that did take a special sign it Force these pictures of Patterson and
height were taken by a bank ATM camera authorities believe that over a 10-year period the pair may have stolen as much
as [Music] $150,000 from their victims yeah I'm coming detectives traced the missing fugitives to a motel
in South New Jersey got a photograph just mean anything to you the Patterson and height had moved out the week before
before they were now on the [Music] Run update after the story aired poette Height's former employer called our
phone center he reported that she had been working in a New Jersey fast food restaurant under an assumed name they
gave us a social security number she used and the FBI tracked that social security number to a Ware recipient in
New York City uh FBI agents in New York City Police Department stake out location where she was to pick up her
checks at that time both Julius Patterson and Paul Ed height were apprehended Patterson LED police to this
empty Warehouse in North Philadelphia it was here they found the partial remains
of Hall Luther Gordon 3 weeks later Patterson took police back to the same area claiming
that he had buried yet another victim there W behind the factory he saw at one of the detectives knocking him down and
then ran down the railro adjacent railroad tracks and jumped off a railroad trussle was about 10 ft tall
onto a street and then made his Escape but 3 Days Later Patterson was recaptured he was standing at a bus stop
wearing severed handcuffs concealed under a coat Julius Patterson was convicted of third degree murder in the
death of his sister and involuntary manslaughter in the death of Hall Luther Gordon he was sentenced to 20 years in
prison through a plea bargain poet height was charged only with armed robbery and she was sentenced to 6 years
