murder these terrorists were eventually captured all but one perhaps you can help a young wife doesn't come home the
night before 911 did she disappear or was she the victim of the Twin Towers attack a top selling realtor doesn't
know his client is a killer and that he is the target an ATM Courier vanishes along

vital clue to help solve one of our cases I'm Dennis Verina and this is Unsolved Mysteries join
us [Music] [Music] [Music] three volunteers from a church in carmichel California enter a local
bank the women have come to deposit the collection from the weekend Services suddenly they're
surrounded the for armed robbers are members of The Notorious SLA radicals who Advocate the violent overthrow of
the government get your hands on the ground get your hands hold up get down nobody gets HT get down lady
the robber with the shotgun is especially menacing just 10 ft away mner opsol stands Frozen then let get
down she is gunned down in Cold Blood my mother evidently didn't move fast enough
the bank employees pleaded with the robbers to come to assistance and they shouted more obscenities and threatened
more injuries and wouldn't let anyone come to her assistance the bank robbers appear to be following a
timetable every word and movement precise get out it was very well coordinated everybody had a role and at
all times they were very conscious of the time ticking 50 at some point some of the tellers were grabbed one woman
was kicked um so all of them actually had weapons and it was very very violent and all the time M opsol was not dead
yet she laid on the ground and she literally bled to death on the ground all the bank robbers ran out of
the bank to a car that was waiting for them the driver of the getaway car was 20-year-old newspaper Aris Patty Hurst
she had been kidnapped by the SLA 14 months earlier within weeks of her abduction Hurst had assumed the name
Tanya and declared herself a revolutionary the search for Patty Hirsch triggered
one of the biggest FBI manhunts in history within 2 years most SLA members were either captured or dead but one man
eluded authorities for nearly 30 years his name was Jim Kilgore he was born in Portland Oregon
he was vice president of his senior class he participated in Varsity golf he was on the high school basketball team
he was very athletic he attended the University of California Santa Barbara graduating in 1969 during that time
period he became acquainted with Kathy soia it was at a drive-in theater in San Francisco that Jim kilgore's girlfriend
Kathy CIA introduced him to SLA leaders Bill and Emily Harris Kilgore and CIA were welcomed
into the group's smaller Inner Circle Kilgore was especially skilled at creating false IDs
with the SLA on everyone's most wanted list he was kept plenty busy we know that members of this group would steal
credit cards and driver's licenses for example at local gymnasiums and other health clubs we know that they engaged
in special missions to steal existing identifications in the fall of 1974 Thea met at a safe house in a quiet
Sacramento neighborhood Bill Harris out his plans to escalate the sla's violent revolution robbing banks provided the
Quick Cash they needed to carry out those plans in late February 1975 SLA members held up the guild
Savings and Loan in Sacramento the point Man in The Heist was Jim Kilgore he was a central member
of the group he was not peripheral he was actively involved in the violence he embraced it that bank robbery was a
violent act he was right there inside the bank two months later Emily Harris Michael Borton Kathy soia and Jim
Kilgore executed the daring holdup at Crocker National Bank that's when they killed Mna Absol a mother of
four it was Emily Harris who fired the Fatal blast the robbers stole more than $155,000 Bill Harris was The Mastermind
behind the heist the SLA changed modes after killing M opsol they now were looking to place bombs in locations that
were targeted to kill people they seemed to be more hungry to take other human lives and that's what they set out to
do by the summer of 1975 the operation had shifted to San Francisco where SLA members worked odd
jobs painting houses and their spare time they planted pipe bombs then in late August the group
headed for Los Angeles with an arsenal of deadly explosives in the back of their
car Jim Kilgore Kathy CIA and Bill Harris planted a pipe bomb beneath an LAPD patrol car but the triggering
mechanism malfunctioned a second bomb was found under the police car in another Precinct
Harris selia and Kilgore returned to San Francisco but the heat was on FBI agents finally got a break the
owner of several apartment buildings recognized his house painters as SL members kind of looks like one of the
guys over on the Pacifica unit within hours Jim Kilgore and the others were under
surveillance the next morning agents followed one of the Suspects to their safe house on pra Avenue and from
watching the pra address they see Bill Harris and Emily Harris coming out of the
house when the Harris has returned from jogging they were confronted by FBI agents but an hour after that having
identified a second Safe House in San Francisco agents and members of the San Francisco Police Department raided a
second location in San Francisco and during that raid they apprehended had Hur the high-profile arrests of Patty
Hurst and Bill and Emily Harris made the headlines meanwhile the FBI closed in on
Kathy CIA and Jim Kilgore who were painting a house in nearby Pacifica they raided that house later that afternoon
and when they showed up the house all the remnants of the painting the buckets of paint and the paint brushes were just
left drying in the room a radio was on with a all news station so Leah and Kilgore had fled but FBI agents located
and searched kilgore's apartment at that location they found a bully manufactured
bomb similar to the bombs that were placed under the police cars in Los Angeles and also up in San Francisco
when they inspected that bomb they found his fingerprint it was a very good break
for law enforcement because it allowed us to charge James gilgore with a serious
offense still no charges had been filed in the murder of MNA opsol for 24 years there was no break in the
case then Kathy Celia was arrested in an upscale Minnesota suburb she had been living there as a homemaker and
Community activist under the Alias Sarah Jane Olsen Olsen was brought to Los Angeles
to stand trial for planning explosives under a police car in 1975 her testimony and new advances in
forensic science led the Sacramento District of attorney to reexamine the opsol murder case the state of the
evidence today has convinced me now is the time to seek Justice fora Absol SLA members Bill Harris Emily Harris Michael
Borton Kathy CIA and Jim Kilgore were all indicted in the case all but Kilgore were tried for murder the four
defendants were found guilty of second deegree murder and sentenced Emily Harris 8 years Bill Harris
7 years Kathy Celia 6 years and Michael Borton only 6 years the only missing suspect was Jim
Kilgore update the 28-year hunt for Jim Kilgore finally ended when he was arrested in
South Africa Kilgore was married had two children and was teaching at the University of Cape Town he was
extradited to the United States and pled guilty to the second degree murder of murder opsa Kilgore was sentenced to
only 6 years in prison he was the last of the SLA to be captured and [Music] tried next did this young doctor die at
the World Trade Center on 911 or did something happen to her the night before immediately following the September 11th
tragedy New York City was blanketed with posters of missing Lov ones thousands of
distraught family and friends were searching the city one was Ron liberman his wife snaha Phillips was a
31-year-old phys pH who had last been seen in the vicinity of the World Trade Center the story of this pretty young
doctor is different from the others some believe that she disappeared on September 10th 14 hours before the
attack on the Twin Towers snaha may have been the victim of a crime or simply left her husband in
family to start a new life I think this is a very difficult situation because of
the confusion with September 11th that leaves every single possibility open I mean in our heads right now Anything is
Possible only one year earlier Ron and snaha were the happy couple in this wedding video The Newlywed had an
apartment in Battery Park City an exclusive neighborhood just four blocks from the World Trade Center at 11:15
a.m. on September 10th Ron left for his shift as a doctor at kby hospital snaa had the next 3 days off hang on second
kissed her I told her I loved her and I left luckily I left my keys at home so I
went back keys and I got to kiss her again and that was the last time that I saw
her snaha was not at home when Ron returned at 11:15 that night but he was not concerned my schedule is so crazy so
sometimes she would feel uncomfortable staying by herself at home and her brother lives very close by and her
cousin also lives very close by so she would sometimes go spend the night with them and I thought well maybe she just
decided to stop at her brother's house Ron got up early and headed to work for an 8:00 a.m. meeting he
expected snaha would call him later that morning then disaster [Music] stru what happened there was an accident
a plane hit the World Trade Center oh my God after the meeting I came outside and
we saw the TVs were on and we saw the first plane hit so I immediately went and called home if you're there pick up
the phone and there was just the message machine on I need you to call me and let
me know that you're okay I love you and then we learned that the second plan hit and now everyone
realized that this is an attack and then when the Billings came down everyone was
just you know people were crying but still trying to work and it was a very very emotional time that call back again
about 10:00 in the morning still just the messeng machine was on and then after that the phones went
dead I was frightened for my wife because I couldn't get in touch with her I was sad with what happened devastated
by the whole situation there's so many emotions everyone is in shock and where is my wife I I don't
know just imagine trying to find your wife in the chaos of the 9/11 tragedy there was the devastating possibility
that snaa was buried under tons of rubble still Ron liberman prayed that she was simply lost and that she would
soon find her way home Ron's hopes were based on snaa having been with either her brother or
cousin the previous night but when he finally got through to them both said they had not seen or heard from her in
over 48 Hours realizing that no one had spoken to her yet I realized that this is a serious situation at that point I
decided you know I'm going to try to get down to the apartment all roads into Lower Manhattan were closed only
emergency vehicles were being permitted through the barricades Ron hitch the ride in an
ambulance and then made his way on foot to their apartment the scene down there was just chaos it was one of the most
scariest sites I've ever seen in my life asz I started approaching my apartment building I started seeing trucks blown
up fire engines turned upside down pieces of the building or what looked like the building on the ground
also Ron's apartment in Battery Park was chained shut SN he learned from a neighbor that snaa
was not in the building so now at this point I didn't know what to do with all the chaos going on I thought well how am
I going to find her right now and I went back to my friend's place and I spent the night and that was a very difficult
night I was by myself on the couch wondering where my wife was frightened that something awful
happened the day following the attacks Ron filed a missing person's Report with the
NYPD you got the feeling that the police were just completely overwhelmed and that they had very little time or effort
to be able to put forth towards this Ron hired a private investigator who tried to retrace sn's steps on the night of
September 10th an employee at the couple's apartment building remembered seeing snaha that evening hey Tom um I
have aack at 5:15 p.m. he saw her leaving alone wearing a brown dress and sandals by tracing credit card receipts
Ron found out that snaa may have gone shopping at a department store near the World Trade Center at 7:18 p.m. shoes
lry and bed linens were purchased with sn's credit card but was it snaa who used the C or an impostor who had stolen
excuse me from what was purchased it sounded like it was her sheets for the beds and things like that so we assumed
it was her uh without proof yet Ron hoped to find that proof on the department store surveillance video for
about 2 weeks I sat and watched this tape for about 5 hours a day frame by frame it's one of those stop action
photos where I actually found my wife on the tape shopping alone but after the department store SN
's trail goes cold she leaves the store and then she just disappears there is not a trace of her nothing not a credit
card transaction no money taken out of her account no emails no phone calls nothing how does that happen it's it's a
complete mystery when she left the store snaa was carrying two large bags of merchandise
but nothing was found at the apartment suggesting that she never made it back home
the entire area where snail was last seen lay in Ruins any theory about what happened to her was impossible to prove
then a new clue emerged a clerk at the department start recognized snaa from the missing person's flyer Ron and sn's
family suddenly had renewed Hope from the shoe sales clerk told us that she remembers my wife and that she'd known
her as somewhat of a regular customer is that your sister oh no she's just a friend of mine she remembered her there
that day and said that she was with another person an Indian woman that she just said was her friend you too okay
bye bye have a good day you too they said after she went to buy shoes that they were thinking about going to the
lerie area based on this new information Ron reexamined the department store surveillance table two women are seen
leaving the store together this could be snaa and her companion hey do you want to get
something to eat so far all efforts to identify the mysterious woman have failed we have no idea who this person
is and that she never existed in sn's past we've gone through her phone books we've gone through her email there is no
like phone call even made to this person during that day she doesn't exist anywhere else it could be very possible
the SN ran into her it could be an alltime friend it is possible that snaa stayed at the
unidentified woman's house on the night of September 10th if that was the case snaa could have been heading home the
next morning at the time of the World Trade Center attack if s was near the World Trade Center on the morning of
September 11th knowing the kind of person she was it would just be instinctual with her to try to help and
she might have gone into the building or she might have helped people out it would have just been that's the kind of
person she is she just cares about people if snao was inside the World Trade Center she would not have survived
but that scenario assumes that sna was alive the previous night and spent it somewhere other than with Ron her family
and all of her known friends it's difficult to continue each day is a day that we suffer because we don't know you
know sometimes I think she might just walk through the door or she might just call but each day doesn't happen and
it's really [Music] torture update initially New York courts ruled that sn's date of death was September
10th consequently she was not officially listed as a victim of the 9/11 attacks however almost 7 years later that
decision was overturned the courts determined that snaha most likely died helping injured
people at the World Trade Center just two blocks from her partner snaha will be included on the roster of those
killed on 9/11 this is a great comfort to her family next a realtor has an appointment
at a secluded house an appointment with his own death wind's top Mike and Mary Beth emert had
it all they were inseparable soulmates they were also prosperous Partners in the competitive world of real estate
Mike and I had a terrific relationship we were not only husband and wife but each other's best friends and we were
always always on the phone with each other he was either calling me in her office or calling me on the cell phone
or something just enjoyed each other's company we were just very close but their dream life together was
about to be destroyed just going over some paperwork what are you doing Mary Beth had no way of knowing that she was
speaking to Mike for the last time on the day he was murdered Mike wrote in his datebook that he planned to
meet a prospective home buyer named Steven he planned to meet him at 11:30 at a local mall he he told Mary Beth
that Steven was in his 50s carried a cane and spoke with an East Coast accent you like so much yesterday so I want
don't you to hop in and we'll get going all right Steven was interested in a house
Mike had shown him the previous day well you were here yesterday so just you know help yourself you need
anything St by my house at 12:30 p.m. the owner of house Gail Garland returned from her job to spend her lunch hour at
home she entered through the garage and was surprised to find the front door a jar then she heard the sound of water
running upstairs a trail of blood still wet LED toward the bathroom Mike emmer was dead he had been
stabbed 19 times murder took place in this room and once the victim was incapacitated he was
obviously dragged down the hallway into the bathroom where he was placed investigators believe that Steven the
supposed home buyer committed the brutal murder they also think Steven shows this
house because it is isolated from most other homes in the neighborhood it appears that he may have
reconnoitered and actually singled out this home as the best place to assault night now that suggests some
sophisticated criminal thinking going on police suspect the murder was the work of a professional Hitman and that the
cane was just the roost I think it's possible that the weapon was this cane and the cane might have been one of
these sword canes or a cane with a knife in it so maybe the initial Blitz assault
the stun mik was striking Mike with the cane from behind the knife portion of the can was
used to kill Mike Mike was nearly 6 ft tall weigh 187 lb I think we have an offender here that
was able to overcome a man of Mike stature and then drag his body perhaps about 18 ft from one room to where he
came to rest the water in the shower was turned on and the two Faucets in the in the
vanity sinks were found running that to me speaks of an attempt to get rid of any trace evidence hair fibers things
like that have been washed down the drain he's cleaning his hands off and sink cleaning the weapon off in the sink
this was probably not this individual's first murder or certainly not his first violent
assault but if Steven was a professional Hitman who would have a motive to kill Mike
emert investigators considered Mike's wife Maryanne and as business rivals as possible suspects all were eliminated
they checked Mike's background to see if he had any enemies who might want him dead walk condu ing hundreds of
interviews on people we have not interviewed anybody that can establish why somebody would want to have Mike
Emer killed he was a great friend he was a great husband the effects of losing Mike have just left a huge hole in my
heart I've thought over and over and over again wrecked my brain trying to come up with some reason why somebody
would want to harm Mike and there is nothing that I can come up with that would have this make any sense there
must be a reason for someone to want M eliminated but to this day the case remains

moment and as I looked I saw a sh of my son Parry my boy Parry I couldn't believe it I thought he came
back to me I thought God give him a a new life Sam just stared taking in the vision of his dead son the spell was
only broken when another patient began to talk to Sam about the state lottery Sam look what day it is today it's it's
the 90 million day look it's what they call the super lot should it's $90 million today said when Barett
disappeared I thought there was a sign and I had to play the ladder because he moved me towards
it he told me to play in a certain B I want that afternoon Sam came home from the hospital his wife and daughters
tried to keep him calm but all Sam cared about was buying his lottery tickets when my dad came home from the hospital
he was really insistent that we play the lotto he had this feeling that my brother was pushing him to buy a lotto

Barry next her job was to fill ATMs with cash but one night they were empti and she
disappeared was she the thief or the victim and later an allout search for a popular television news Anor who
mysteriously disappeared Peru Indiana Cynthia whis Miller's day begins at 4 a.m. already a grandmother at age
42 Cynthia cares for an extended family we drank coffee and talked for a while and she kissed me goodby said she loved
me and she'd see me later that was probably the worst day of my life bye baby Cynthia is a courier for an
armored vehicle service her job is to replenish ATMs with cash at 5:50 a.m. cynia begins making
her rounds later that morning she mysteriously disappears along with a quarter of a million doll in cash to the
police it seemed like a simple case of theft by a trusted employee yet it was possible Cynthia was threatened by
someone unseen someone who then murdered her the police called it the yet even they had to admit that Cynthia did not
fit the profile of a criminal her family never had any doubts they were afraid that Cynthia was the victim of Foul
Play my mother has taught me that it's very good to be good you can't take more than you give she instilled that into us
very early for there even to be speculation that she would have done something like this or done anything to
to attempt to take the easy way out it's just ludicrous there's no way no way in
hell it would have happened whatever did happened probably began 3 days before the robbery come on
in Cynthia have a seat Cynthia's supervisor told her that the security company had been bought by the Brinks
armored car service Cynthia was to have a new position there'll be some changes and I'll fill you in on that next week
but because of time constraints right now I just want to cover one thing with you mhm the following workday Cynthia
was to postpone her early morning duties until 900 a.m. at that time she was to meet a replacement and acquaint him with
her rout show him your routine etc etc yeah sure I can do that um so then am I giving up my job do I have a job as long
as I still have a job you still have a job the next morning Cynthia got up early just as she always had she never
mentioned to her boyfriend Billy that her work schedule had been changed investigators say that between
5:50 and 7:15 a.m. Cynthia made stops at each of the eight ATMs on her route she began 3 hours earlier than she
had been instructed and without her trainee each of the machines was completely emptied of cash the ATMs had
video cameras on them out of the 8 ATMs we only found actual film footage of Cynthia wismiller on on one of the tapes
and throughout the entire time she was in that building she was alone it didn't appear that she was under any type of
duress or force of any kind most of the ATMs that she serviced were exterior buildings they were not actually in the
bank branch and she could get into the back of the ATMs without being seen on the video camera okay baby John you take
him down to room one please detectives began their investigation by questioning Cynthia's family and her boyfriend Billy
Hawkins Billy was adamant that Cynthia was abducted and he also is adamant that someone has forced her to do this Billy
told me that there's no way she would have done this on her own if someone was holding a gun on her or uh had
threatened her family or something she would do something like this to protect her family or to protect her own life
possibly there's nothing else on this Earth that would make her do something like this without being coarsed into it
the family held firm to their belief that she had been forced to steal an eyewitness supported that idea the
witness said that he saw Cynthia with another person he saw Cynthia and this other person unloading bags and putting
them into another vehicle he said this person had a sock hat pulled down to the lower part of their face so he could not
tell if this person was white black or male or female according to the witness Cynthia did not appear to be helping the
unidentified stranger against her will if Cynthia was an unwilling accomplice she could have sent a secret warning to
her company to open an ATM couriers must enter a code that changes daily a distress signal is sent by simply
changing one of the digits but Cynthia did not enter the distress code at any of her
machines and as the investigation of Cynthia wismiller went on an audit revealed an additional
$200,000 was missing cash that Cynthia was supposed to have placed in her ATMs more than a
week before the robbery I think she was dipping in the till a little bit to help
her family out when she was informed that Brink security was taking over the company she knew she was going to be
caught when they did the Audits and I think she just took as much money as she could and fled the area we as a police
department want to find her because she stole the money but we also want to find
her to make sure she's safe we don't believe for a minute she did anything wrong she just wasn't that kind of
person just wasn't her update after 6 years CIA wismiller was located and arrested investigators
traced phone calls made from family members to an address nearly 800 M away in Pon Deon Florida when whis Miller
learned local police were on her Trail she drove to Indiana and turned herself into the cooko police department she
repaid almost $200,000 of the money she had taken she served only a short sentence I'm John Shine from kimt
television Mason City Iowa we need your help one of our news anchors is missing her name is jod henr jod is 5' 3 in tall
and weighs 120 lb she has blonde hair and was last heard from around 4:00 a.m. Tuesday June the
27th jod hen Tru was the anchor of a Morning News show in Mason City Iowa she was a local favorite a lovely woman with
many friends and known known enemies on the day she vanished jod was scheduled to work a regular ship on
air when she hadn't arrived producer Amy kons called her apartment everything sounded normal just
like I had just woken her up what time is it she asked the question so I told her Jo it's about 10: to 400 he need to
come in to work how much time is left to produce on the show I mean she was obviously thinking she was aware she
just knew she had overslept and she had to get into work I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary nothing Jody didn't
show up by airtime so Amy anchored the 6:00 a.m. newscast she then sent the first available person to check on Jody
I was halfway mad because I had to do all of this stuff all by myself myself halfway worried because I thought gez
what if she's laying in her apartment bleeding cuz she fell down hit her head on the tub you know things like that but
never once did I think somebody nabbed her outside of her apartment never once did that cross my mind the offer
arriving at the scene observed several J's personal items strung about the ground around her car a quick check was
done in and around the apartment complex for Jodie but we were unable to find her
her personal items which appear to be things that she was bringing with her to work in preparation for that morning
newscast were scattered about her car kind of trailing off away from the vehicle which to all involved is a good
indicator that she was taken forcely by that afternoon the Mason City police launched a massive search rescue
teams scoured the countryside divers and police dogs covered the Winnebago River
and its banks but there was no trace of Jody in fact the only possible clue was a white Ford Econoline van much like
this one it was seen in the parking lot of Jody's apartment building about the time she
disappeared we spent a lot of time and a lot of effort talking to the people who
knew jod and spent time with Jody we located nothing in her private life that would have put her at risk at all no
Dark Side to jod she was as real and All-American as she appeared uh to those who knew her and and to her viewers I
think there's still hope I really feel that we might find her yet um there's you can't give up hope that's what gets
you up in the morning if you have any information about jod who in Tru or any of the other cases profile tonight
