[Music] [Music] Gary Indiana naen gelic was terribly worried she hadn't heard from her sister Margie
for several days not a single word so she went to Margie's house I was looking for Clues did she
write something down did she leave something that I could pick up on to know that she would return I looked in
the closets luggage was there clothes were there all of her things so whatever she left with it had to be just enough
for a few days naen was concerned to find many personal items that Margie always took
when traveling and Margie's car was left behind abandoned in the driveway Gathering
dust why did Margie gelic suddenly leave was it of her own free will or was there
something else something very Sinister going on recently Margie had run a to some
really tough times and then she began dating the leader of an Outlaw Biker game her sister naen suspect that she
was either in hiding or had been abducted 6 months earlier Margie's life seemed ideal she was a happy newly wood
planning for a bright future with her husband Nasser in Detroit but just 6 months after the
wedding he was killed in a traffic accident Margie was shattered she decided to move back to
Gary Indiana was really really hard on her she spent a lot of time crying and trying to decide what to do she insisted
to come back and help my mom with the business Margie immersed herself in her new job she managed the night shift at
the tavern owned by her mother there she first encountered a biker named Randy joerger
what's your name I haven't seen you here before my name's Margie Margie how do you do my name's Randy Randy nice to
meet you Randy was a high ranking member of a notorious biker gang The Outlaws he
possessed an outgoing scruffy charm in an era of danger which was attractive to the young
Widow I think that he complimented her in ways that she needed to be complimented and she needed perhaps
those accolades that made her feel good and he knew how to say the right things to charm her and she in ter was in turn
was Charmed by him well you should hook up with us sometime I mean meet a lot of
new people go out have a good time maybe Randy's Charisma however covered up a darker
side Margie had no idea that he was an ex-convict with a long criminal record he and other members of The
Outlaws were under investigation for racketeering drug dealing and murder two of The Outlaw members murdered this
old couple because they had a lot of money inside their house and actually stabbed them with a screw driver through
the throat I mean this is these are bad people to do that soon after they met Margie began
dating gagger Margie was a good girl for lack of a better term who seems to have taken
a walk in a Wildside this is uncharacteristic from what I've learned of Earth her family is not sure if or when Margie
found out about Jagger's criminal past the only thing they know for sure is that she began to
change she became extremely distant how about I makeing some coffee no I got to go are you sure she became distant with
me and my children and distant with the customers and I don't know whether she was told to be distant and not to speak
or she just totally started to remove herself from society 3 months later Margie left with joer on
a trip to Las Vegas at that very moment United States Marshals had already begun an operation
to arrest Randy and several members of The Outlaws 17 members of The Outlaws were
indicted for a Midwest crime spree that included bombings robberies and six murders I saw the pictures and I said oh
my God my daughter went with that man you know oh my God what's going to happen to her
now meanwhile 1500 mil away in Nevada federal agents traced jger to Las Vegas but it was too late he and Margie
had apparently fled the city the first thing I could think of was was he going to hurt her cuz she's
with this guy who now everyone in the country is looking for and she with him and what if by mistake they find him and
they hurt her two weeks passed then Margie returned to Gary safe but shaken good morning her family was relieved but
Margie remained distant is everything all right yeah everything's fine but do you want to talk no I don't want to
talk she felt that they would try and find him through her she was led to believe that her apartment was bugged
that um people were following her in her parking lot she had an extreme paranoia
and I said Marge what should you be paranoid about nobody's after you you've not done a
[Music] thing 3 months after her return Margie disappeared again at first it just seemed like that
that she had run off and and joined jger wherever he was at but upon investigation we found out that she had
taken none of her clothes her car or anything else it just seemed that she was gone um we're really not sure what
happened there it's been several years since Margie disappeared her family believes
that even if she is with jerger that she is no longer his girlfriend but his victim I feel that he is holding her
back and he won't let her communicate to her family if and at this point he's brainwashed her because this is so OD of
character for Margie not to make a phone call to us hello over the years several mysterious
phone calls have been made to the tavern during the mornings the caller never speaks and only after a long pause hangs
up for her family these calls offer the Slender hope that they will one day see Margie
again I want Margie I want her to come home whatever she did she did but come home my heart and my door is always open
for her I'm waiting for her update there are new developments in this case here's one of our staff with
details Randy joer and Margie gelic were discovered living together in a Mexican
Beach town called Rosarita when Mexican authorities arrested jger and found him in possession of a gun Margie fled in
their car leading police on a high-speed chase she lost control of her car flipped it three times and was found
dead beside her [Music] vehicle coming up it seemed a routine call two small blazes at a construction
site but then and later the legendary alash UFO incident Kansas City Missouri it was just after Thanksgiving
firemen raced to extinguish two small blazes at a construction site it seemed like a routine call the firemen were
bringing the blazes under control then in the blink of an eye one of the fires exploded with
terrible Fury he could have retired several years ago but he loved it so much that he just
stayed he wasn't even supposed to have been working he was fing in for somebody else I'd rather have him go this way
than to lay in a coma or be sick cuz that would never be jimm kilit he didn't want to fly an airplane because he
didn't want to risk his life on an airplane and I said but you risk your life every day being a fireman and he
said well he can he's in control when he's at the fire [Music] department that night six Kansas City
firemen died in the explosion all were married all had children and there was the ugly fact that the fires had been
deliberately set it was now a case of arson and [Music] murder the first minutes gave no hint of
what was to come at about 3:40 a.m. two security guards at a highway construction site discovered a pickup
truck in Flames yes I I want to report a fire some 500 yd away a second Blaze had been
set look there's some some explosives there that are burning near the fire okay we'll get somebody
[Applause] started at Station 41 Captain Jim Kil Venton firemen Robert mccum and Mike
Olden were out the door in 90 seconds pper 41 news cor information from the calling party there may be
explosiv stored in that construction site the pickup truck may be in the construction site 41
the the trucks total but there is a fire on the other side of the EXP side of the
high yes sir the two fires were 500 yd apart and had been set almost simultaneously Captain Kil Venton and
his crew soon had the truck Blaze under control however the fire in the trailer still burned out of control
within minutes Captain Gerald howerin and his crew from station 30 joined kilvin what we got well J looks like we
Captain hin was told that the explosives at the construction site were safely stored in fireproof
bunkers just the fact that the bunker was there in fact there was two bunkers there LED that Captain to believe that's
where the explos was and this trailer was just a regular normal construction trailer with tools and equipment in it
and therefore there was no danger that he was going to put that fire out and they'd be down for the night with the
truck fire contained both fire Crews began tackling the burning storage [Music] trailer at 4:08 a.m. the battalion chief
pulled into the construction C we understand there's some explosives here in a bunker we think that there's some
in the trailers over there as well trailers that are on fire yeah let's get him out of there
John 10 it was just the loudest noise I'd ever heard it just kind of went through
you it was just so loud I can't describe it I'm I'm serious it was just incredible and we live about 12 Mi away
from where the explosion was knocked me out of bed and I got up and look to the East and I saw a big
great big ball of fire and uh I said to myself home Gerald's going to have to go
to that because that's his district and I just knew he had to go I knew he'd be there explosion just as we pulled up in
here get us all kinds of am and at least a couple three more companies 15 companies of Kansas City
Firefighters rushed to the aid of their comrades but they were forced to wait from the sounds of the explosion they
were pretty sure that nobody had survived and so we made the decision uh that we were going to wait until
daylight cuz we didn't want to go up there and stumble around on on more explosives and get more people injured
and killed then a second explosion ripped through the site pumper 41 or pumper 30 answer
pumper 41 or pumper 30 at that same moment Jim kenton's wife was listening on a police scanner a
visit from the battalion chief soon confirmed her worst fears he says they're gone I said no way
they're still alive he said no they're gone his camp Captain came to the door and when he came in and I said don't
tell me it isn't true and I I just started crying daylight revealed a devastated
landscape as investigators sifted through the wreckage for Clues it was evident that nobody could
have survived that it was just totally devastated I don't think any of the group that went up there was expecting
we found I I don't think anybody had any idea that it was that bad I'd been in Vietnam and seen B52 strikes what the
aftermath of those were and these craters were much larger than 2,000lb bombs leaves and as we found the
firefighters we came to the last one and he was laying there and His Radio was still on and you could hear the voice of
the dispatcher still coming out over the radio calling and it just kind of shattered the Stillness of it it's just
a very surreal looking scene a public outcry erupted angry citizens inundated the police department
with hundreds of leads the tips have ranged anywhere from uh someone out trying to steal someone
out just for fun someone out just because they like to set fires wanted to see what would happen uh But as time
wore on uh these leads soon wore out I guess I feel like if I knew who did it we'd know why they did it and I don't
think they were trying to kill six firemen but somebody was trying to do something to somebody and six men are
gone and that's hard to deal with we were all very proud of our husbands and we were proud of the people
in Kansas City because they gave us such support we weren't alone update when we filmed the story Kansas
City firemen had to push aside painful memories of the blast to help us film The
[Music] Recreations their efforts paid off in a big way after the broadcast more than
600 viewers contacted us their leads tips and information led directly to the indictment of five suspects 9 years
after after the explosions all were found guilty they are George Frank Shepard his
brother Earl their nephew Brian Shepard Frank Shepard's girlfriend Darlene Edwards and Richard W
[Music] brown at the trial prosecutors said the fires had been set deliberately during
an attempt to steal equipment and Dynamite from the construction site each of the defendants was sent to
life in prison next the remarkable story of four men whose camping trip turned into a
close encounter of the most terrifying kind in our next story four men describe terrifying events that happened while
they were camping in the main Wilderness they claimed that they were abducted by
aliens they've been polygraphed hypnotized and ridiculed but their stories never
change I was starting to have nightmares really terrible nightmares that I could
not [Music] explain I found myself in a very brightly lit room I had no idea where I
was or why I was there to my left I could see my brother Jim Chuck rack and Charlie fult sitting on some type of
bench and they were all naked I was wondering why they weren't helping me because I felt like I was in
danger and while I'm trying to figure this out I notice this dark shadowy figure emerging from this bright light
in front of me I would wake up sweating and breathing heavily and just in in a state
of Terror and shock for years Jack weiner told no one about the nightmares except his wife
Mary then Jack's twin brother Jim confessed that he too was being haunted by exactly the same disturbing
nightmares it was a real surprise to find out that Jim was having identical dreams there
were always certain elements of the dream that were the same some type of creature and uh being helpless being uh
violated was a feeling I often woke up with in every dream the Twins were with Charlie folz and Chuck wck two friends
they had met in school they wondered if these nightmares could be connected to a camping trip 12
years earlier in Maine that summer the four men spent 2 weeks in Main's Allagash
Wilderness the Allagash covers thousands of acres in the northernmost part of the
state on the second night out Jim noticed a bright object in the sky it's right over
there it was just floating above the Treetops it didn't seem to be moving in any direction and I looked at it through
the binoculars for maybe 15 seconds 30 seconds and it suddenly just winked out from the outside edges inward it's gone
where is it I mean it literally just went like that and it was gone there was something about this
thing that left me with an odd feeling that wasn't quite right but I really didn't dwell on
it the men continued through through the Allagash Wilderness on the fourth day they
decided to try some night fishing they built a bonfire to mark their campsite hey guys someone want to give me a hang
with this fire let's pitch black out there we'll never find way back it was it was a fairly good fire that would
have lasted 4 hours bare minimum and then we struck out onto the lake just as it was getting
dark Chuck rack was the first to realize that they weren't alone I had a feeling that there was
someone staring at me from behind me I turned over my right shoulder like that and I saw this large round globe of
light that looked exactly like what we had seen two nights previously it had this roiling effect to
it like a miniature Sun very very bright it lit the tree tops up like daylight hey guys look at that and it was abs
absolutely silent after looking at it for what seemed like several moments we decided
to Signal this thing and that's when Charlie picked up the flashlight and squeezed off a a message
SOS the response was instantaneous when the light started coming toward us my curiosity was
satisfied I just dropped the flashlight the only thought in my mind was to get to sure I never looked
back I remember looking over my shoulder trying to keep an eye on this object as
it was coming up behind us and and it was getting very close I mean it was almost on top of us at this point and I
remember thinking that we're not going to outrun this thing let's go let's go keep let's go let's get the shore come
on their next memory was being back on Shore just staring up at the bright object I remember thinking my God I
could pick up a stone and bounce it off the side of this thing that's how close it was and then all of a sudden it just
stre away very very fast and within a few seconds it was like a star just another
light in the sky I remember stepping out of the canoe and going up to the campsite and I
remember remember there was no Panic people seemed to be very relaxed hey guys what do you want to do about
this fire it's out all four men agree they were out on the lake for less than 20
minutes the huge bonfire should have burned for hours and yet inexplicably only coals
remained the unusual thing is that we didn't stay up for hours and discuss this thing which is what you would think
you know four young guys on a camping trip would do and uh we just seemed very fatigued and we just wanted to go to bed
the next morning we got up and um got our camp together and and paddled to the next
campsite the men spent another 10 days in the Allagash Wilderness but never again saw the bizarre light as the years
went by they told friends and families about the UFO sighting but no one really believed them the men hardly believed it
themselves then the nightmares began for Jim and Jack weiner hi Ray hi Jim finally Jim contacted UFO researcher Ray
Fowler for help Fowler suggested the Allagash 4 undergo hypnosis with a trained hypnotherapist to recover details of the
sighting one by one they underwent hypnosis [Music] it's cold like a doctor's office it's
cold when we return the chilling details of those sessions I don't like these things I don't care where they come from
they shouldn't be doing this to [Music] people see you it's right there deep in the wilderness of northern Maine four
men witnessed with a believed was a UFO years later they underwent hypnosis to probe the Forgotten details of their
experience under hypnosis each of the men experienced terrifying repressed memories memories of being
abducted they were almost exactly alike independently of one another each of them Drew illustrations of their
incredible recollections these are the actual paintings and [Music] drawings all four said they were taken
aboard the craft the aliens forced them to strip naked and seem to be conducting medical
[Music] examinations the aliens took samples of the men's skin and body fluids their
blood urine and seamen what follows are excerpts from the actual sessions they don't know what to do I
think they think I'm going to come after them I feel like I want to I feel like I
want to the first one that comes near me I'm going to throttle them I don't like
these things I don't care where they come from they shouldn't be doing this to people Jack weiner found the faces
terrifying they're right there their face is right in my face I don't know why I don't want to
know I don't want to know what they want they're saying things in my head they're
saying don't be afraid they say do what we say just do what we say Charlie folz was the next to be
examined it's cold like a doctor's office it's cold they put the panel over your
chest and then they scrape your arms your chest your legs and thighs we shouldn't be
here this I just keep thinking I want to be back in the canoe Chuck R could actually see what
the aliens were doing to Charlie see some sort of device on him they've got a this looks like a silvery
like it's got curves on it it's almost like like it sucks something he's got his head tipped way
back it's almost like he in pain we can't help him all we can do is watch him I don't know if you're aware of it
you probably aren't because you haven't been talking to each other it was not until after the hypnosis sessions that
the Allagash Ford discovered that each of them had recalled the same horrifying events you saw the same things
experience the same we were amazed that Jack would say something about how he remembered the light or or Chuck would
say something that he remembered or Charlie would say and we'd sit there my God that's exactly what we remembered
one person would pause to take a breath and the next person would pick up and you knew what they were going to say you
knew what they were going to say and when they paused for a breath you could continue and it was also kind of uh nice
to know that I wasn't going insane having these nightmares that they were in fact me real memories of an
event that did happen ultimately each of the Allagash 4 took polygraph tests and passed
[Music] easily for Skeptics however stories of alien abduction do not stand up to
scrutiny some suggest that images from popular culture or horror movies may have triggered false memories of alien
abduction some of the stories that you hear about abductions are right out of the films I mean almost verbatim
media driven it's cyclical you get some good cases on TV people hear about them they think they may have had the same
thing happen uh it it sort of feeds upon itself hey guys look at that usually these are people have no interest in
abductions have not read about it or even unfamiliar with the nature of the beings and are shocked and astounded
when they hear someone else has had these experiences as well or that there is material in the media about it the
investigators have a very clear-cut agenda about what they're what they're looking for so if you get somebody
that's doing uh UFO Abduction research this is a person that generally has already decided that UFO abductions are
real that thousands of people are having them they have a symptom list and if you
come in the door with those symptoms then you must have been abducted it really doesn't work like that I'm open
to listen to something which other therapists or uh other mental health professionals have not been able to
listen listen to this is not a club anyone wants to belong to this happened if you believe it
that's all right if you don't believe it I don't care I don't care cuz it did for the skeptic UFO stories may seem
dubious or even Preposterous so until there's an alien spacecraft placed on public display
somewhere there will be doubters even so the stories are hard to explain in some of the most fascinating Unsolved
Mysteries we encounter coming up in Wyoming a marathon runner mysteriously disappears
could her husband have been involved Lander Wyoming her name is Amy Beckel she's
just 24 years old a dedicated athlete and Olympic hopeful Amy and her husband Steve seem perfectly matched both
dedicated athletes both bright and attractive on this day she runs alone in the tall trees of the shishoni national
forest and disappears as time went by and there was no sign of Amy police suspected Foul
Play and her husband Steve became a key suspect Amy and Steve beell had been married for a little more than a year
both loved the outdoors running for Amy and climbing for Steve they moved to Lander because its rugged terrain made
it a perfect training ground Amy's always really fond of saying you know let's retire now and
then will work when we're old have to work some odd jobs and things like that but basically every day we live the way
we want to hi Emy hey Sam and I are going to do Bo check out a new route it was a
typical day for Amy and her husband Steve bye hi Steve was going rock climbing with a friend Amy had a long
list of vand call a phone company get the gas turned on buy some home insurance once those tasks were done she
turned to something fun planning a route for a 10K Mountain Run when Steve returned from his all day
climbing trip Amy wasn't home yet found a nice friction climb we was talking casually and he asked about Amy I said I
don't know she's up somewhere she goes okay no problem hey guys hey Steve early evening what's cooking Steve stopped in
on Todd and his wife Amy still wasn't home where's Amy I think he was getting more and more worried at this time
she usually leaves a note he wasn't panicking by any means because it was still light and still you know she could
have been out doing something it was it was not an an unordinary day for Amy so we didn't think it was unusual that she
was gone but when we got back from the movie I was really worried am's not back yet she's not back
no I haven't heard anything from her I called the police they're out looking for Todd and his wife a search roads
where Amy beel most likely went running Steve stayed behind hoping his wife would call Tod and I had been driving on
the loop road for about an hour or so and right around 1:00 we glimpsed Amy's car pulled off the side of the
road okay we'll find her now we saw our car there and it was like you know we were
relieved it's like oh man we thought we'd found her so I walked up ex completely expecting for her be in the
car she's not in there like and had um run out of gas or not been able to start it or a dead battery or who knows what
the heck I'll go call the sherff [Music] heyy at that point it was relief you know and concerned because you know her
car's still up there and it's it's you know after midnight and you know she's probably cold and maybe has a twisted
ankle Amy but Amy was nowhere to be found not in a few minutes not even a few hours
Amy by morning dozens of volunteers were scouring the mountains more than 500 people covered a 20m radius not a single
clue was found we should have found Amy Beal if she were a runner up there and nothing
else entered the picture could she still be there yes but given the circumstances the lack of
Clues I don't think she is after 8 Days the massive search was called off Dave King suspected Foul Play and
accused Steve of knowing much more than he was saying Steve you know what this is no this is evidence that ties you
directly to Amy's disappearance I was pretty blown away you know and I turned to Dave I was like
you know Dave what's going on here then this is this is not cool he was floored basically he slumped down in the chair
we have some serious questions about you and your wife's relationship the best thing you can do
right now is cooperate the guy says look if you take a polygraph test we'll get this cleared
up right now and I was like wait a minute you know if you guys are accusing me of something I didn't do I'm going to
want to talk to legal counsel here I wouldn't let any client take a lie detector test or completely
inaccurate uh they come in about onethird of the time as a false positive and it would be a terrible Injustice to
Steve if he fell within that one-third false positive and it was used wrongly against
him deputies searched Steve and Amy's home among the items They confiscated were a series of journals Steve had been
keeping since high school journals investigators found incriminating we've obtained many pages
of writings there are song lyrics in there and there are writings about power and death some about killing
people Sheriff's investigators asked Amy's family and friends to read exerpts did you see that I was floored wondered
about this guy you know at that point my wife and I we both thought you know there are some things
that we've seen in the past that you know maybe somebody should be aware of brother told the sheriff about one night
Amy and Steve were over for dinner how did you get that bruise it's nothing it's just a bruise just a bruise
just a bruise you know Steve can get a little rough sometimes Amy just laughed it off would
not look me in the eye and I said that is not a normal reaction it's particularly for
Amy deputies also found a camper who claimed that on the day Amy disappeared she had seen a blue pickup up truck
driving fast on the Mountain close to where Amy's car was found a man was at the wheel and a
blonde woman was in the passenger seat the next day the camper saw the same truck at the search
site based on that information we showed her pictures of Steve beckler's truck and she concluded that that was the same
truck she had seen evidence was mounting against the Steve Beckel but was that evidence
conclusive statistically he did it first person we have to eliminate in the case
where there may be Foul Play involved in one's disappearance is the person closest to that
person hey Sam and I are going to Sheriff's investigators believe that there were incriminating gaps in Steve's
activities that day time when he could have harmed Amy he was with people all that afternoon and evening so I don't I
don't have any question question about about that he just didn't have the time but what about the camper who said she
saw what might have been Steve's truck according to phone records Steve made a call from his house at 4:43 that
afternoon Johnny hey it's Steve that's about the same time the camper saw what she alleged was the truck on the
Mountain Road a 45-minute drive from the beckel's home I don't see how Steve ever
had the time to get up to where Amy's car was and [Music] back and what about motive investigators
believe Steve's Journal show a desire for power and control that may have led to murder Steve and Amy's friend tdd
Skinner strongly disagrees a psychologist can read anything into any writing that you can
ever wish to put in there and to me I've never seen more innocuous writing taken
out of context more heavily to you know to a worse result Amy's family still wants answers
they want Steve to take a polygraph test I don't feel like me going in and getting attacked is going to solve any
problems I feel like uh you know I went and I tried to work with Dave and it didn't work out um and you know things
need to get solved a different way now 7 years after she disappeared Steve had Amy declared
dead he has since remarried did Steve Beckel murder his wife the town of Lander Wyoming is still
divided he says a stranger could have kidnapped Amy or a car could have accidentally hit her her family will
never be convinced if you have any any information about Amy Beckel or any of the other cases we profiled tonight
