[Applause] [Music] there will be spoilers is anybody watching True Detective season
3 that's the question the captain's watching I raised my hand I ra raed one I raised a foot that's but that's good
podcast my friends is when you raise your hand and nobody can you give them the visuals with with no ability to see
you yeah can you you can't hear me raise my hand so we will talk some true crime
on this episode but we're going to talk some True Detective first because it is on our brains cuz good lord it's good
it's very good so I all right so let's talk about the the uh Seasons okay we have season one two and now we're on
three and I'm not going to lie uh and I think a lot of people Felt This Way season 2 was was a let down compared to
Season One MH uh it doesn't seem like it was well received my overall opinion of
season two is this I thought it started off fairly decent I thought it started off well the actors that were chosen and
actresses that were chosen for season 2 I thought was great casting I thought that was a home run for
me I think the story got convoluted like it was it was got confusing after a while and some parts were confusing
enough that at the end of an episode this is in the second half of season 2 I was asking myself well why do I care so
much because it didn't grip Me the Way That season 1 did season 1 we all know was a huge hit well the answer to that
question is you didn't care as much because it wasn't as good right and I think sometimes we've seen this time and
time before and we will see it time and time again season 1 set the bar so high for themselves it was it was almost
difficult to achieve that level of greatness again however I think with season three they've hit a home run I
think that they are achieving that same level of greatness I actually find myself a little more intrigued
with season 3 than I was at this point into season 1 and and what I when I say at this point so you said there will be
spoilers however this will we will be talking about this will be released a week after episode 4 so by this point if
you're listening episode 5 should be out will be out and unless you were watching
the Super Bowl which you know only millions and millions and millions of people will be uh you may not be caught
up to this point or whatever ever but as the captain said there will be spoilers
so if this is something you're looking forward to watching or you needed the right push to get you to watch yeah this
should be the push right here because season 3 has been fantastic so far with True Detective yeah and I've been
getting a little bit of criticism because I said this could end up being as good if not better than season 1 and
season one I've stated multiple times that I think it might be the best single series that I've ever seen on
TV um maybe Freaks and Geeks might rival that as far as a one seon thing one season story yeah and so what's cool if
you don't know anything about True Detective it's on HBO it's not they're not sponsoring this episode but it's on
HBO and season one was great season two you know I just never got into and then season seon 3 has been mindblowing but
if you're wondering hey do I have to go watch season 1 and two to know what's going on no no they're new actors every
season and what's nice about True Detective is they're able to get top-of-the-line A-list celebrities M to
work on these shows for one season MH and really it's because of uh Woody and and and Matthew MCC are all right all
right all right that they really started off this season right I mean or the series right mhm and so I think that's
why we have such amazing actors in season 3 well and I think these are actors coming forward and saying we want
to be a part of this yeah this is that good that we want to be a part of this and the the casting for season 3 is
incredible and and I say that having seen four episodes I mean that the acting from from top to bottom is is legit it's
very good and the writing is very good as well so what's going on so far is we have two
detectives and basically the story is set in the 80s the '90s and then today yeah 2015 though I believe right
right so the the general overview that I have right in front of me and I think this is from
heavy.com yeah um IMDb or you know I actually I take that back I don't know who it's from okay I was going to give
somebody credit but I actually don't know where I got where I copied this from but the the general overview as
stated on this particular website is True Detective season 3 plays out in three separate time periods telling the
story of the 1980 disappearance of a young Arkansas boy and his sister and a mystery that deepens over decades well
and this is a story there's so many points of this story and this is going to give some stuff away a little bit but
I'm not going to try to ruin every episode for you but we know that there's detectives we know they're working two
missing person cases two missing children cases yes so that's one Avenue true if you're a true uh crime fan you
love that at some point we realized that somebody wrote a book about this case so
true crime lovers love true crime books somebody wrote A True Crime book about this crime that's awesome mhm and then
at some point one of the lead detectives that worked this case not only in 1980 but also again in
1990 is later being interviewed for a true crime documentary yeah and that's another
thing that true crime people love so it's almost like when they're writing this story they said we need to bring in
these things that all True Crime lovers love right and and by doing that I think
it it has made it a very compelling story yeah and it's detective Wayne Hayes is the main character purple hay
purple Hayes yeah that's a cool nickname and his partner is Ronald uh West mhm or Roland West I'm
sorry Roland but uh so you have these two detectives who are working this missing person's case and it's taking
place in Arkansas which adds an extra hint of almost a true element from you know cases that we've seen in the past
dare we dare we say should we say well I feel like we're walking on eggshells here no I think the the thing about this
case is there there's definitely some hints maybe not even intentionally but there definitely seems like some hints
of West Memphis 3 mhm now different victims uh different you know as far as we have missing victims and not three
murdered victims but there's also things like what what's the one place called Devils Devil's Den Devil's Den so kind
of like Robin Hood West Memphis 3 right and it being in Arkansas as well um you know I love when like you said who knows
if this was intentional or not not M but I love I'm not a huge Fiction guy but when I'm reading a fiction of who done
it a mystery a murder mystery I love when it seems to me that the author took to took real life cases and worked some
of those angles into the story I always find it a little more intriguing for me well and also we're only four episodes
in so there's a lot of wh ifs at this point pretty early on on you figure out that because like I said they're going
from 1980 to 1990 at some point you figure out out pretty quickly that somebody has been held responsible for
this case mhm in the sense of an arrest or a conviction but we don't we don't know
exactly who that person is that they've held responsible or if they should have been held
responsible right because because what's happening in in 2015 in the story when they're doing the True Crime documentary
is it's hinting at there's new information that the detectives never had and that they should have had but it
was a cover up and they actually Brin up the Franklin Scandal um which yeah they out you're
right they the um the lady that's doing the documentary she's kind of the host maybe executive producer of this
fictitious documentary that they're doing MH she she asked she specifically asked the detective if he had ever heard
of the the Franklin scandle right which is funny because he says no and I keep thinking if you're from that area and
you're in law enforcement you would have heard of that so I I think it's kind of
a but I he's not from that area so that I think that's what makes it um wait the
Franklin Scandal but what I'm saying is like he's in law enforcement and he's been in law enforcement since the 80s
I'm just saying you would think that he would have heard of the Scandal maybe he
wouldn't know much about it but that would be almost like asking a detective hey have you heard of John Bay Ramsey
case you know or west Memphis case like there's a lot of detectives that we've talked to and that's one of the things
that has always fascinated me if you're a true crime lover you think that these guys that are detectives or cops that
they're they're living the dream job right because they actually get to work on the
case but once you start talking to the some of these detectives and you go hey West Memphis 3 what do you know about it
a lot of them they don't know anything other than oh yeah three boys were murdered oh yeah I heard something about
that yeah they have a a brief or general overview of of the actual case may even
have an opinion on it but from my experience those detectives typically haven't spent
much time looking into them into these cases because they're working they're working their own yeah so it's not like
they go home when they're supposed to be thinking about missing you know John Doe
that's missing in their Town they're not sitting there researching Brian schaer's
missing you know disappearance or Mara Murray's case they're they're working on their own cases mhm
so but to me it seems like something that he would have known about but again again it's 2015 and the guy purple
Hayes's character uh detective Hayes he has a hard time remember in anything well he's getting up there in age right
and he's losing some of his memories and some of his you know abilities so that's
possibly why he never heard of it but it is fascinating because there is there's
one the wh if of who did this mhm one are the victim you know are the victims dead or alive
mhm and then was somebody found responsible that shouldn't have been found responsible so there's so many wh
ifs right now so I'm just telling you do yourself a favor and if you want to really dive into something I mean I mean
it's really to the point where I clicked on it yesterday I watched it yesterday I
clicked on it it was like 9:30 so once once uh normally the way the streaming works is that you can watch it online
once it's released to the public so you could start right at 9:00 I started at 9:30 and right when I click play it will
tell you how long the episode is and I think episode 3 was like 45 minutes and I was like only 45 right you want it to
be longer and last night it was like an hour and 15 and I thought this is going to be great I mean it's
really um like a great movie that's not complete every episode well and I love the platform of the premium channels
compared to your regular networks where they the networks are more beholden to that time frame that time slot that they
have and I think with something being on premium channels you the writers and the
producers have and directors have more liberties with that yeah more control of that time frame that time slot to go you
know what this is the this is where we picked up from last week and this is where this weekends we don't care if
it's 45 minutes or an hour and 10 we you know this is this is the stopping part yeah and look episode 4 has one of the
best Cliffhangers I've ever oh it's very good seen in television history I mean we should really stop sucking the [ __ ]
of the TV show True Crime or True Detective and probably actually talk True Crime well just real quick before
we move on you're exactly right but before we move on what was what made you did you finish season two of True
Detective no cuz some people bailed on it I mean I just never got into it but when I watched season one uh you know I
might go back and watch it because now I have HBO like the streaming service M but when I watch True Detective I
actually had to buy it so so I bought it all and then I ended up like being able
to watch a couple episodes I think of season 2 and then just never and I'm a Rachel McAdams fan and just never really
got into it but what made you go back to season 3 because what I what I have to believe is
happening or or happen four weeks ago right right but I have a feel I have a feeling that a lot of people that bailed
on season 2 or didn't like season 2 are not giving season 3 a chance oh they will I mean after the after the the
water cooler talk oh yeah because anybody I've said hey you got to watch True Detective they're like I've heard
it's really good yeah you go okay well now the word trailer looked really good the trailer was really good but I H I
have to uh thank you my friend because you were I think I probably would have watched it on my own but I think you
were the push that I needed to get into it early on because I I saw the trailer a couple times I was like man that looks
really good but I was still a little still a little gunshy31 one and maybe two before I did and
you're like yeah it's really good and you were you were the only person that mentioned it to me before I watched any
of it so I thank you for giving me that push cuz my initial thought was well I'm
going to let these build up till they get to like six or seven episodes and start watching and then that way if I
hate it I've not invested the time you know and I can just walk away from it but uh you were the push that I needed
to to start and so I started a few days behind you but uh we're on we're all on the same level now yeah I think you
finished four before me but but I also think like if you look at you know what was happening in season
one especially like Russ's character um the character Russ and that in that is he's this
very um kind of loner type but very into True Crime and taking all of his knowledge
from any case he's ever heard of and trying to look at every angle of the case and he's kind of quiet to
himself um very unique character and the trailers I think for season 3 kind of showed that now where in season one The
Detectives aren't really friends they kind of butt heads the whole Time season 3 they kind of butt heads but they're
more friends but I think it's that character Purple Haze or I should probably call him detective because he's
he deserves my right but his character seems to enjoy the purple hay nickname yeah but it's
like you know he's the same kind of detective he's the detective you want or at least I want when I'm watching a true
crime show even if it's fiction which I guess I guess that's not true crime at that point but when I'm watching a crime
show I want the detective to be that type of character right because if somebody called me up even though you
know I'm the sidekick uh saying stupid comments in the corner if I was going to investigate a case I
wouldn't be showing up you know making douche canoe um flicky flicky jokes I'd be you know reserved and and yeah I
don't know um and so that's that's the character if I was going to play a detective that's kind of the detective
I'd play or want to play you know they should eventually call me I should be and that's going to be on my bucket list
I need to be in one of the episodes of True Detective even if I'm like one of the suspects or
anything like I I could do it you you uh you hit on something there that I think
is very very spoton so season one I mean the case that they were investigating was interesting was fascinating but but
the glue that held it together for me was a lot of the interaction between the two detectives and season two I thought
that was lacking big time and season three brought that back you have great interaction between these two detectives
they they both have their own ways and own methods of doing things but they like you said they they butt heads at
some points but other points they seem to be the only one that's backing up the other detective yeah but whereas in
season one it seemed like Russ was the lead and even though detective Hayes is the lead at least in the 80s on this
case uh his partner is not lacking as far as intelligence go no I mean or or or being of an interesting character
yeah I mean it's just unbelievable acting if there's uh look if if if you watch it tweet out these actors because
they they deserve some uh praise for what they're doing because this is this is some of the finest work on TV okay
enough with well and if everybody if everybody loves it you know if it's a big hit and people want to hear our
opinions more maybe once the season is over oh we'll talk about it again we we'll do another off the record of True
Detective but um another thing that people have been asking for is an update a lot of people wanted a third episode
of The jimie Claw story M and typically we would leave updates for this show for
off the Record and the way that things the way that the news was breaking and our schedules as far as what was already
on board mhm unfortunately I know we're coming a little late with this but I think it's something we should still
discuss because people well I don't know I I don't think we're late I actually think we're
probably early oh well and what I mean by that is we're going to talk to you about some some of some of the stuff
that we know but there's going to be way more that comes out I think there's going to be some confession I think you
know could there be possibly more than one person involved it's very possible so there's been an arrest and the news
that came out when Jaimie was first found there was little to new no news at all it was simply that Jamie Claus had
escaped the home of her captor and I guess the the way that I understand it to be is this that she she escaped the
home she flagged down or ran up to a woman that was walking her dog and then the woman grabbed her and said they they
went to the nearest Home pounded on the door and the gentleman that lived there let them in and the woman that was
walking her dog looked at you know the guy's like what's wrong what's wrong and and she says to him call 911 this is
Jamie Claus and so the police obviously very quickly show up after that um this woman and this man helped this this girl
that who knows what what condition she was in at that point but she was held captive for 88
days and we talked about this case we did two episodes on it and our episodes were really what everybody else was
talking about what everybody else was speculating about what happened and why did this happen and so the news has been
slow coming out but what we've learned since the uh Jamie was found alive and somewhat well you know uh by everything
that we're being told is that they very quickly arrested a suspect and his name is Jake Thomas Patterson and I don't
have it in my notes Here Captain but I believe he is 21 years old is what I remember seeing and yeah which is um
pretty young for a piece of [ __ ] I thought so too um we're we're used to talking about older pieces of [ __ ] yeah
um so he's arrested and what came out shortly afterwards I think this took a few more days but
he lived like 60-minute drive from Jaime's family's home yeah which is pretty far
but they they said that it's believed that he spotted her getting off of the school bus right and then decided to
Target her with the purpose of taking her and abducting her and this is what led him
to in the shortest form is kicking the door of her home and then there's a struggle he kills allegedly we should
say kills Jake um I'm sorry James Claus age 56 and then Jaime's mother Denise Claus age
46 and drags jimie out of the home and takes him back to takes her back to his home there are some different layers to
this that are are intriguing and like you said Captain we will find out out a lot more about this once there is an
actual trial it would be interesting to see what he's willing to admit to because
there have been some leaks that have come out that sounds like he has talked with police a little bit and in fact
when they first approached uh this James uh Patterson or Jake Patterson I'm sorry
there's a James there's a jake anyway so when they were when they approached Jake Patterson I mean again
the show is called off the record I mean where this is not take a bunch of notes
and do a show so so we we do have some notes but well but the thing is when they when they approached him what's
been reported is that he said I know what this is about I did it or I did this something to that effect I don't
know his exact words but we also have some other things that were leaked out that says that he told
investigators that he was pretty convinced he got away with this whole thing right and even a little
bragging about him getting away with it he he has talked about how he disguised his vehicle and he also talked about how
after the two we Mark once two weeks had gone by he thought he was convinced he had gotten away with all this and I
believe he told investigators that had she not escaped he would have got away with this 100% now we've seen this in
the past with other types of of individuals that are similar to this guy they are they do think they're very
smart they do think they're very intelligent and they do and they like to brag about what they you're right but I
love the whole if she if she wanted to got out if she want to got free I want to I wouldn't be in jail
right now no [ __ ] right you know [ __ ] Sherlock I think where that lead me to
believe what what it leads me to believe is this that let's say at any time she fought
back enough or became a problem enough for himh with killing her parents I would believe he'd have no problem
killing her right and for someone to say I I believed I got away with this after
two weeks it leads me to believe he would have done this again if he would have got rid of Jamie at some point he
would have probably done something similar to to this in the future and the weird thing this is something we talked
about with Ed keer and we talked about it more so with BTK and BTK Dennis Raider his exact words referenced a two
week Mark or 40 you know he said for for anywhere from about 48 hours up to two weeks especially with the first attack
that he did he felt like for that first two weeks that at any moment like like as soon as he committed the crime
everybody knew what he did and it was just waiting for them to show up and knock on his door and after a while
after that period of being paranoid went away he was back out to wanting to hunt
and troll again for new victims so yeah one of the things that they state is you know it is common for
individuals who pre on children to not have a lengthy history and but the because the ones that do have a history
they're already keeping an eye on mhm so I I think that's kind of interesting statement made by law
enforcement well so some other details that have been leak leaked to the public before we get into those I do
want to mention I don't believe so Jake Patterson has been arrested but I don't think there's been official
charges uh laid against him yet at this point because I think they they have they're
going to have a buffet of charges that you can charge this guy with obviously but I think they want really want to get
it right as to what their Cas is what the charges 100% will be I could be wrong on that but I I don't know that we
have a date for his day in court yet and as you pointed out if he is communicating with investigators on some
of this stuff we might be looking at a confession eventually now if they have enough evidence which I I got to believe
that they do there's probably plenty of physical evidence putting him at the murder scene as well as putting jimie at
his home for those 88 days they may not be willing to deal with a confession because they may have a strong enough
case and say we don't want to deal with this guy he's a double murderer he's an abductor of a child and you know you
don't have to use your imagination too much else to think of all the other crimes he's probably
guilty of but we don't want toel and deal with this guy the tricky thing is I I don't believe that there is a death
penalty in in this state right so mandatory what he would be facing would be two life sentences plus a bunch of
other stuff tacked on for his other crimes maybe like life plus 80 years or something never getting out again we
don't care that you're only 21 years old well it states that Jamie could hear the
sirens when when she was bound and she was dragged from her home she could actually hear the sirens and then they
say the suspect Jake Patterson uh even told detectives that he had to yield to the uh the the sheriffs and the deputies
that were racing towards the home the responders had to go past him yeah and he had to actually like get out of the
way mhm um you know 80 mile 80 Mile Drive okay I mean you know not that this guy was bril brilliant I'm not saying
that at all but what I'm saying is you're 80 Mi away from the crime scene you're way more likely not to get caught
mhm you're way more likely that within 80 miles like you said if he did Kill Jamie
and put her in the woods somewhere which he was maybe planning on cuz he even said something to the fact that hunting
season was almost over and with hunting season almost being over he could then dispose of the body in the wood
and then you go it be that much longer until she would be found cuz as we've discussed a lot of times they are a
victim will be found a body will be found by hunters at the next season well and if he's willing to drive 80 miles to
get the victim then who's to say where he puts the body after hunting season so let's say he drove two or 300 miles away
then you'd be you now if if those remains are even found by hunters The Following Season mhm Where do they start
looking at that point yeah would they be able to connect it to this guy and you know they had some evidence and leads
and stuff that they were working in the beginning of this case when it first broke but they didn't seem to have
anything leading them to Jake Patterson there's no evidence out there that they spoke with Jake Patterson any time
before she escaped his home right now so she's held there for 88 days and there are a couple things here
too that that went on during the course of of this 888 days I I'm a little blurry on his a little confused about
his work you know what what he was doing for a living his employment during the course of this 88 days but I do know
that there was uh a day that he left his home for approximately 12 hours as she was being kept in his home he went to
visit one of his grandparents right and this was a 12-hour visit taking the risk
of her getting out during this time and then there was the other strange story that was leaked was that on Christmas
day he had visitors to his home while she was still being held captive and the police were very quick to say we have no
reason to believe 100% that that any of these visitors to his home had any idea that Jake Patterson was involved in the
Abduction of Jaimie CLA or that he was holding her there obviously well I mean again it's 80 miles away so it's it's
like you know that the crime happened obviously it's a big deal is Nationwide it's probably talked about worldwide but
you start going okay even our son's a little weird our friend's a little weird but he's 80 mil away mhm what are the
chances right and he had no connection to her so the fact you know you got law enforcement saying well heck you got
somebody that's 80 mil away and has no connection you know so Patterson's not on the Rad
Radar for anybody right not law enforcement not his friends he has no criminal record right so but the one
thing I want to do bring up again about the hunting season was the detectives after hunting season were
over they were shocked that they didn't get anything they thought well somebody's going to find something but
when nothing was found this is their gut feeling of somebody's holding her some where and that she's alive was
reconfirmed by that after hunting season as well cuz they're going well heck there nobody found anything so she must
be alive mhm and um and that that's probably a very difficult thing for for everybody to uh that's working on the
case now you're going well [ __ ] we still think she's alive somewhere yeah and and
the thing that we pondered on our episodes about Jamie CL was we threw out the theory and others
did as well could have jimie have been involved in any way at all because we've seen
cases in the past where a parent or a husband or a wife are killed and then the you know one of the other people
living at the home disappears and then later you find out that they had some involvement and they brought somebody
else in to to help assist with with this crime these crimes these murders and obviously now we know that that that's
not the case here but what I find intriguing about this is as soon as I found out that boom she she didn't have
anything to do with this MH my first thought in memory was thinking of the very brief description we're given of
the 911 call when when it's believed that her mother or either Jamie was attempting to call 911 and the brief
description you got at the time was that there was a lot of commotion a lot of yelling going on in the background or
you know of that call and so you have to wonder was there enough information on that call that law enforcement actually
knew or firmly believed that she wasn't involved in the crime but didn't release
that because we know they didn't release that that's why everybody was speculating that that could be a
possibility yeah but they did state that there it was their belief that she wasn't involved correct so but okay so
what we do know is he he has been charged and he's going to face two counts of first-degree um intentional homicide and
that's going to happen his I think his first uhe um preliminary preliminary hearing yeah is uh February 6 so that's
when he will officially be charged yeah but what's interesting here is what we said um I'm I'm just looking this this
was a new I think when we talked about this I looked up some old stuff this is the newest that just just came out uh in
the last 24 hours so they're saying that that's what he's going to be charged with the hearing starts February 6 but
they actually don't believe that they're going to charge him with any crimes that
happened during her her being captive by him uh they don't anticipate filing any
charges against Patterson for crimes committed during J's captivity so I wonder if that just means
that we have enough evidence this is a sign delivered I'm Yours uh case right and he's going to do two life sentences
he'll never get out and so why waste the time to do anymore and and the reason why I think well Double
Jeopardy it's not so much waste the time I think I think it's it's holding ammunition behind so if for some reason
there's some strange reason that he does not get convicted of this then you move
forward and go all right Cole we didn't get you on the double homicide but we're
going to get you for which will the double homicide will very likely include breaking and entering and some other
little charges as well right but if they can't get him on that for some strange reason I think it would have to be very
strange that he doesn't get convicted of that that then they can go all right well we're going to we're now we're
going to charge them with kidnapping and these other charges uh that that were a
result of the kidnapping well and I think this is one of the ways of protecting Jamie because they don't
have to actually have her be a witness or testify to anything at this point so by doing that if you can just get the
person to either confess or plead guilty then or or you just again get him convicted sorry Nick's Nick's smoking
weed in the garage trying to hold it in as long as I could no we'll just keep it who cares
um he's not smoking weed he just he just can't talk properly um so I think that's their way
of keeping Jamie out of this and again I guess again if he got off on something then I guess you could say well hell we
could uh charge him with these other crimes and we have an eyewitness so and that also means that she doesn't have to
be in the courtroom and she doesn't have to face this dirt bag again yeah hopefully it's something as simple as
she can give a statement and they're able to use that in court um sorry I took a drink and I was trying to breathe
at the same time you can't do that apparently uh if you study science you would know you can't breathe and drink
at the same time because then you inhale liquid which will then cause you to cough and talk the way I'm talking well
a lot of people don't know that when you were studying a computer that you were also so studying science that's right
and I'm working on a method of inhaling liquid yes and when we figure that out we'll let you know but uh so the the
visitors to his home so kind of circling back here MH on Christmas for my understanding was his father and maybe a
girlfriend and then I I'm unclear if it was a separate visit or part of the same
visit his sister along with a friend of hers as well and again point out that the investigators have already said
publicly there's no reason to believe that they knew anything that was going on during their visit or even up to the
point of her escaping yeah I mean I think a lot of people are going to go how did you not know well you just they
didn't know the the there's no evidence that these that anybody that's related to them is is a pile of [ __ ] just
because he's a pile of [ __ ] doesn't mean that people in his family are piles of
[ __ ] but I will tell you that I've been having this little gut feeling lately that I'm going to be in a situation
right okay I I just have this gut feeling that I'm going to be in a situation I I don't know when or or what
kind of situation if it's going to be a big situation a little situation but I feel like I'm going to be in a situation
at some point just have this gut feeling and um but I feel like it's going to be similar
to one of these what if you're at Christmas you go visit your son at Christmas and all of a sudden you hear
in the closet you know you feel like this is a possibility for your life that that you
will be in a situation where you're going to go to someone's home no no not but similar to it okay like one of those
situations of what do you do like you're at McDonald's and a guy pulls a gun and
decides to rob the place and you're right behind him and you have a frying pan right mhm what do you do and I I I
do feel like the U there's just this gut feeling called intuition you know maybe
in a couple weeks I'll tell you I stopped the bank robbery who knows well was it Samuel Jackson that attempted to
rob the McDonald's and coming to America and and uh Eddie Murphy stopped it with
a mop was it a mop that he used to stop that hold up yeah and you know why he's able to do that why cuz the royal penis
was clean um I remember watching that movie a lot when I was a kid and there's that scene
where like before he goes to Queens New York they're washing him and then the lady pops up and it must have been on TV
and they must have edited that part out but I remember watching that as an adult
and she pops up out of the water and she goes the royal penis is clean and I remember thinking I watched this a lot
when I was a kid well you know what when when ha when we were kids aha what I seem to remember is most of the cable
networks this isn't regular TV but most of the cable networks didn't censor anything like it they just played the
movie as is so if you saw PG-13 or R-rated movie it was pretty much as it was in the theater um but back to the
case real quick you know talking about well no no I want to answer that question sorry what you do
what do you do I mean you're hearing noises even if you heard a help me right like now now this dude let's say it's
your buddy right you go over go over to Morgan's house right and you're hanging out with Morgan and all of a sudden in
the basement you hear help me right like this is your buddy or this is your son or this is your you know what I mean or
the his his sister came over so that's your brother like what the hell do you do do you go
hey man we got to look in your basement or do you start you know I think I'd probably start with what's going on in
here you you politely excuse yourself and call the authorities oh so you could pretend that
you didn't hear anything I hope that I could in that situation you don't know I mean you
might have you probably have a gut Rea like I'm just saying I I don't mean to laugh at a situation but it's almost
like you go uh do you have a parrot you know you can't say that cuz you don't want to don't want them to know that you
heard the well so I'm just saying that like those are situations it's just like when the lady in the park walking her
dog comes up and the girl's like you know I'm Jamie Claus and and she's like she kind of knew who she was but it's
like again what do you do in that situation and I think um you know and look I I know that has nothing to do
with the case but I think there's a lot of times in these cases at least when we're going over them where I Ponder to
myself what the hell would I do well and I think I think a lot of I think everyone out there does the same thing
and so when jimie ran up to that woman walking her dog I believe she said I'm Jamie Claus and I don't know where I
don't know where I am or anything about this town or what town I'm in um but I don't think that lady knew much about it
she probably knew the name and that might that might have been it I right but then they brought her to a
neighbor's house right and when they brought her to the neighbor's house the guy has been following the story right
so then he's like oh [ __ ] this is the girl that I've been you know looking up information at at night probably
listening to True Crime garage talk about it and now going she's in my living room I mean that would be like
Brian Schaefer knocking on my door mhm or or you know U going to the gas station and running into Mara Murray MH
like that's crazy well so I guess gives you something to ponder as well and what
you're talking about is very similar to uh Ariel Castro who was yeah he kept three girls who ended up you know they
grew up into be women I believe they were all adults once they were found one of them escaped but he kept them in his
home for years and years and years and I read stories that he he was a musician and he would host band practice or uh
get togethers with other musicians in his home to get together and play music together and he's been giving local
artists a bad name for well and all those people years later are going I I had no clue you know I had no clue there
was nothing in there in my experience while I was in his home to tip me off that this was going on well it's kind of
like when you look at like um um Silence of the Lamb when you look at that layout it's like
it's very unclear Buffalo Bill's house it's almost seems like there's a basement under the
basement mhm maybe there was maybe there wasn't so then you just go with this uh
Patterson guy right what was his setup like you know did he and then well we do we do what has been leaked is this is
that he when he was not there when Patterson was not at the home or when these people came over to his home he
kept her under a twin bed it doesn't say if it was his bed or or or not I don't we don't I don't know much about this
this dwelling where psychopath probably slept on a twin bed so he kept her under
the twin bed and he put containers around the bed and he put He put weights inside of these containers so that it's
kind of locking her in under this bed and I I would have to assume that there were some kind of constraints right uh
applied as well keeping her under the bed so when when those guests when his guests came over on Christmas that's how
he kept her and of course he's threatening her in advance right saying hey people are coming over if you if you
make a noise I will kill you and she has no choice other than to believe him because she's already witnessed him
commit two homicides of her parents at this point and then I guess he would put on music either in that room or in
another room with the thought of that it would drown out noises should she decide
to attempt to make any noises and she's probably they probably put duck tape around her mouth or or whatever there's
probably a lot more involved in it than just that but that's what has been leaked to the the Press yeah but then
you also wander you go okay well I mean we won't know but it's like what if this guy's not visited a
lot by his family well then he goes it it doesn't sound that he was I mean 88 days and and probably only had two
visitors that they're aware of yeah and um yeah but then you you kind of wonder how far the family is away from him so
then you start thinking well what if he got through these two visits and he's just like I can keep her alive for
longer mhm and then and then does it become one of those scenes where it's like 5 years later she's still living
there she's still being tortured there so I mean at least that part of the story of her being
free there's a happy ending yeah that that hor horrific portion of the story is over with and ended in a good way I
mean but that's why I said I think we've actually I mean talking about off the Record we can talk about whenever we
want but I think if we're going to do a whole episode on it for like True Crime garage I think there would just have to
be more information yeah than has been leaked yet and I don't know if we'll ever get that though because the you
know when the da is saying we're not even we might not even charge them with these other uh crimes M okay so that's
uh maybe it's one of those again it could be a protecting thing of Jaimie but also her family M they've been
through a lot you know not only the the two murders but then we on top of that we have didn't know where she was at
don't know if she's dead or alive and then what are going to be the repercussions what are what is going to
be the work that she's going to have to do to get through this mentally um now what one of the I believe one of the
judges said is look you know people with this kind of strength and character that
we can be hopeful that they will find uh some degree of healing and I think that's a a great statement made because
she got out because of her she can if anything hopefully this proves to her that whatever she puts her
mind to that she can accomplish and that she will be fine and and hopefully she goes on and does great things yeah and
it's it's going to take a long time of of healing for her certainly and I and the community is still trying to heal
itself through all of this now I do believe that the reward money that was offered up for
information or for a suspect or the finding of Jamie Claus they've determined they will reward that to
jimie herself because she's the one that escaped and and point you know was able
to communicate what was going on what took place yeah that horrible night in the 88 days that followed well yeah and
again this I mean this might come off a little cheesy or or whatever but I don't
care care I'll say whatever I want um but it's like you know you have these moments in your life where you kind of
think about what you've done whether you know you worked a job for a long period
of time or whatever it is but there's these moments that you just wonder like what one what are you made of what are
you capable of and are you living to your full potential right and then on top of that you start wondering what
what have you really done and I think um the Silver Lining and some of this is that she can say I know what I'm made of
I know what I went through I know that I can get through anything you know and she's going to have some bad days but I
don't think any of those days are going to be as bad as as any of those 88 so yeah what a what a tough story and
I I I wish we knew more to share but uh we've been getting so many people talking about doing an update that we we
