Britney Henderson from Burlington Wisconsin came face to face with dating abuse her freshman year in high school
I'd never had a boyfriend before and I fell for the senior football star and it was about 4 months into our relationship
when I started noticing slight changes Britney says her boyfriend criticized her clothing isolated her from her
friends and family even controlled her diet but his temper terrified her most of all he had said something and I
thought it was funny and so I laughed and he turned me and he pinned me up against the wall by my throat and he got
in my face and started yelling at me for laughing at him did you tell anybody about that mm why not fear fear of what
he would do next Britney's father eventually stepped in and ended the relationship for her now 21 and in grad
school in Austin Texas she volunteers at the national dating abuse helpline thank
you for calling love is respect are you safe to talk victims of abuse once you're involved in it it sucks you in
this Situation's not your fault you always deserve you know to be safe and support what do you think would have
happened if you stayed in the relationship there are some heart-wrenching stories out there of a
lot of victims and what they experience and I'm very thankful that mine never made it to that point
