The Treaty Oak in Austin, Texas was known as “the most perfect specimen of a North American tree”. Until one day in 1989, Austin city forester, John Giedraitis, decided that the 500-year old tree looked sick and started to suspect that someone was trying to kill. The Austin police ended up arresting Paul Steadman Cullen. On this episode of the Criminal Podcast, we unearth Cullen's motives for killing the Treaty Oak.
