Pauley Perrette speaks out on stalking | Forensic Files

stalking is such a cruel crime it's a theft of your mind of your life of your safety was that hard for you to sit down
here today I'm so scared sitting here talking about it it it just it puts the same fear into every victim that it but
we can't keep this a secret I need to use this information for something other than the destruction of
myself and that would be to help other people most stalkers are just using the internet to stalk their victims it's so
available it's so easy I think all of us as victims have all been told at some point well don't don't use email don't
use computers how what are we this is our lives like what else are you going to take away from us
the law needs to be changed so that when you have a you have a restraining order
and especially when you're convicted that if you mention your victim's name it's the same thing as writing them a
letter it's the same thing as standing on their porch you are violating that restraining
order we need third party culpability if anyone is willingly and knowingly helping a stalker stalk the persons they
have restraining water against they should be equally responsible for that we have a big problem with our legal
system because a stalker will often Sue constantly sue their victim so they can see them in court I believe that the
reason that many stalkers use the illegal system to sue their victims is because it's control because they
they're telling you where you're going to be that day and unfortunately our court system has not has no help for us
in that my biggest fear is someone that I love being harmed because of this and that
has there have been instances where it's just been too close nothing hurts more than seeing your loved one suffer
because because you're the target

"NCIS" actress Pauley Perrette explains how she would like to see stalking laws changed. Perrette tells "48 Hours"' Erin Moriarty she is especially eager to see laws catch up to the presence of the internet in people's lives. She believes stalkers with restraining orders should not be able to use their victims' names online.
