my name is Barbara AR onus uh I've been a good friend of Nick Nikki I call her Nikki uh Nicole for oh about 13 years
now I'm David tzer I was a good friend of Nikki's for about five years before her uh death my name is Pamela Schaefer
and I was Nikki's friend for about 10 years prior to her death how did you and Nikki meet in a program of alcoholic
synonymous when she met David what did she tell you about this this man that she had
met she said that uh he was the love of her life and that he she was going to have kids with him and be with him
forever and tell me about the first time you met David what were your impressions
that he was a different kind of a fellow I believe at the time they were engaged
and we wanted to meet him and he sat out in the car and wouldn't come inside and
there was like a house full of 15 women that were really wanting to to talk with
him and he wouldn't come inside she'd called me a couple different times and one time she was in her
room with the door shut she was in fear of her life because he had just slammed the computer thing down on her hand and
she was afraid she was really afraid of his anger I went on a double date with Nikki
and him and he picks the place and so you have people that are in Alcoholics Anonymous and he picks the brewery
Downtown Seattle uh this Brewery restaurant he's sitting there drinking beers and you know like and most people
won't do that like he didn't care how your feelings were he just it was all about him she was a different person
when he wasn't around she was real guarded when he was around how do you mean it was like walking on eggshells
you know to describe it you could see that he he he made all the rules and she followed him and what did she want in
that relationship what was she hoping for with David oh just a life together with her husband to have kids just to be
happy um I looked up to Nikki I mean she was a lot younger than me about half my
age um but I really looked up to her she helped me tremendously to get through my
alcoholism did you see this coming at all Barbara oh man not her death no um it was her
eighth AA birthday we were all waiting for her to show up at the birthday meeting and she would have been right on
time for that I'll tell you she'll be dressed up just to the hilt and just ready to talk and and to share her life
of her sobriety because she was so proud of it this was 8 years of sobriety years
sobriety which is an incredible celebration to have oh exactly yes
