inside the apartment. So, to investigators, it looked like Carmen had willingly let her killer inside. So,
they started with the people closest to her. First was her current boyfriend, Rob.
But detectives quickly discovered Rob was over 1,500 miles away in Arizona visiting family. And phone records
confirmed that they talked that night. And multiple witnesses backed up his whereabouts. So, he was ruled out.
Then investigators turned to Carmen's most recent ex. People told police he'd been upset about
Carmen's new relationship. But he also had an alibi. So, detectives moved to another ex-boyfriend. This one looked
much more promising. Carmen discovered he'd been cheating on her. And she even took concert tickets
he'd bought for another woman and used them herself. According to people who knew him, he'd told people he wanted
revenge. And that could sound like a motive. Until investigators learned that he was
over 2,000 miles away. One by one, every obvious suspect was ruled out. Eventually, more than 40 men were
eliminated through interviews and DNA testing. And that's when this case changed
