Angola prison has a gift shop? | Forensic Files

hi I'm Anthony vend Didi producer with the CBS news program 48 hours today I taking a ride up to Louisiana State
penitentiary in Angola uh not just because it plays a role in the hour that we're working on but uh also because
there's something up at the prison I find both fascinating and bizarre so let's go check it
out the interesting thing about the drive to Angola is that the prison is literally the end of the road
this 17 M 2-lane Road dead ends at the prison itself and I've got three choices I can either drive into the
prison I can turn around or I can make a little stop right before the entrance of
the prison you'll see it coming up that's what I want to show you this is the Angola museum inside
there's a model prison cell a display of confiscated makeshift weapons and even the electric chair that was in use until
1991 and if you want to bring back a piece of Angola right next door is a gift shop where they sell mugs prison
box of shorts and t-shirts including some that are very tongue and cheek I was surprised to find
a gift shop connected to one of the most infamous prisons in the US but Angola is
also home to a famous Rodeo and that's when the shop does its best business well there you have it the Angola Museum
and Gift Shop now all the proceeds from the sales go to the upkeep in the museum
honestly you see some strange things working for 48 hours but this has got to be one of the strangest for me
