"48 Hours" behind the scenes | Forensic Files

My name is Josh Gilman and I'm the producer of CBS News 48 hours father and son. Water was an important visual
element in telling this story. Are you ready? Do this thing. So what we decided to do was use a very high-speed
video camera to create images of water dripping from a faucet, pouring from a faucet. And we got really creative with
it using our camera team out in Salt Lake City. We went to Home Depot and we bought a plastic utility sink which
would double as a bathtub. We cut it in half. We then glued a clear looseite panel onto the front of it and then we
filled it with water and we started taking various shots of just about anything we could do with that bathtub.
Starting with single drops. Okay. Ready? Go. And shooting them hitting the water from the side. We also
did water pouring out of a faucet. We got underneath the bathtub. We moved the bathtub into an aquarium, put it up on
uh saw horses and then move the camera underneath it so we could shoot the drops actually hitting the glass pane as
if you were under the faucet. Of course, we shot it from above and we shot it from just about every angle we could
think of. And what we ended up with was just a really, really interesting group of
images that really helped tell this story in a unique way.

In "48 Hours"' "Father and Son," a Utah mother is found dead in her bathtub. Because water plays a significant part in this story, producers used a Photron high-speed video camera to capture unique shots of running and dripping water which were then used as creative graphic elements in the show.
